Robert was a wonderful host and the property was absolutely beautiful. It was very private and a perfect way to spend our anniversary. We will definitely be back!
Perfect spot.
We had an absolutly wonderful time camping at Hygge Dune! Robert was such a great host, he met us when we arrived and shared some great stories and information about the land and walked us up to the camping sight. It's about a 15 min walk from the car so like the other reviews have stated, make sure to pack light (which we did). It was absolutly worth the trek, the area is so beautiful and private and Robert set a really great spot for the tent which kept it protected from the wind, and we were able to set our chairs up a tad higher on the dune just a few feet away. There was also a path where you could walk to the bluff that overlooks Lake Michigan - it was no more than an easy 10min minute walk and the views were absolutly STUNNING. We didn't have too much of an issue with bugs which was nice. We couldn't have a campfire due to fire restrictions but that didn't put a damper on our time there. The town of Elberta and Frankfurt were close by so we went into town for breakfast and dinner, there were also lots of other activities in the area so if you wanted to venture away from the campsite during the day there is lots to do. I could not recommend this place enough and we hope to come back again.

The view was beyond worth the 15 minute hike!! Pack light! Would stay again for sure!

This camp was so beautiful and Robert was very helpful. Beautiful view of the stars, coyotes easily heard at night (which we loved) and a stunning overlook of the water.
Beautiful view and nice and secluded - felt like we were really in nature. Be prepared to hike in your gear - a great option for those prepping for full backcountry camping in the future. Be prepared for wind like Robert mentions - weather can be unpredictable along Lake Michigan but the trade off is an exception view and campsite. Robert was a thoughtful host !
Robert’s spot was absolutely STUNNING! The views of Elberta and Lake Michigan are out of this world, and the sky was the most filled with stars that I’ve ever seen! Robert met me at the parking spot and walked me out to the spot. The only thing I will say is pay attention to the forks in the road when you’re walking out. I was happily engaged in Robert’s conversation on the way out, and didn’t pay attention. I got slightly turned around on my first walk back to the car, but had no issues on my other hikes back. It’s very easy if you’re paying attention! The hike to the spot wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected, just a nice steady incline. The campsite is very well maintained. A beautiful firepit up top and a tent spot behind a bush slightly down the dune to help block the wind. There are tons of amazing hiking spots in the area, and sleeping bear dunes was just a drive away. I had to cut my trip short due to being called back home, but will absolutely be booking this site many times in the future! If you’re looking for a unique, quiet place to camp, this is absolutely the spot for you!
The hike to the campsite was more than worth it. After camping here, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to camp in the SBDNL park again! So beautiful and so amazing to be able to experience the dunes like this.
Robert was a wonderful host, friendly and generous! He graciously accommodated our plan changes and provided excellent recommendations for exploring the area around his land. The campsites themselves were well manicured and Robert provided lots of firewood and tips to enjoy our time there. The views from the campsite were unmatched, and exploring the forest around the sites themselves were equally rewarding! 10/10, definitely take any opportunity you can to stay here!
