Cozy up to the outdoor fireplace during these chilly nights in the UP- It won’t be long and we will be booking winter campers! Are you a hardy soul? FALL COLOR STATUS: October 22nd; forest is YELLOW; we are on our downhill slide from peak color status; most areas have yellows and browns- some are still sporting oranges and reds. Think up-north seasonal residential private road. (But tucked away in the forest out of view.)

You cannot see another campsite or structure from any of the three sites. Site 2 is the most private and secluded, it has a nice fireplace insert, charcoal grill, picnic table, and fire ring.

Site 3 is the smallest of the three sites and makes for nice overnight pit stop; has a fire ring, pot belly stove for warming food, picnic table and bench.

(furthest from the outhouse (450 feet away down the road and through the path)

Site 1 is a pull-through site and is the largest and most open (least tree canopy and more sun) it has a primitive stove for warming water or food, a fire ring and picnic table.

The shared outhouse is closest to site 1 (200 feet up the hill)

You won’t be camped next to a highway, it’s a peaceful place to set up camp and not be bothered or feel cramped or crowded; Bears live in the UP but I have never had any campers encounter them- always keep food in your car overnight.

M-28 can be a busy highway at times; but all sites are out of sight of highway and at least 1000 feet away; you may hear the road in the right conditions.

No shortage of room to park anything you drive; set up a tent/ hammock; have a beverage on the picnic table next to the campfire!

I live a half mile away.

Verizon and AT&T cell service one or two bars of LTE CELL SERVICE (METROPCS/Sprint no service)

NICE CLEAN OUTHOUSE TOILET on the property.

We are: 8 miles west of Newberry south of M-28. 52 miles east of Munising This is the most centrally located spot to see most eastern UP attractions; TAQUAMANON FALLS; Brewery and Pub, OSWALD BEAR RANCH, Seney Wildlife Refuge.

MUNISING WATERFALLS, Garland Zoo and PICTURED ROCKS, GREAT LAKES SHIPWRECK MUSEUM, Big Spring Kitchittikippi, GRAND MARAIS BEACH,

Camping in the UP, don't forget to be ready for mosquitos;

I keep the vegetation down and spray once a year; a smokey fire does a great job of chasing them out of your site!

The convenience store is within a mile and offers booze, ice, gas, campfire wood, subs and anything else you may have forget to bring with you.

If there is another group camping on the property, you may never even see them.

The forest surrounds all sites, and you'll feel like your tucked away in your own Mature Maple, Birch, and Spruce 'forest room'

Public Access to the lake offers fishing at the DNR boat launch ACROSS M-28 FROM THE BEARS DEN 1/4 mile away. This private-road neighborhood is tight-knit and values the security, privacy and quiet that goes with this area. Showers avalable in town at the Pleasant Moose for 14 dollars.

(Public boat launch also has a toilet)

This was a great site! It was exactly as expected, and it felt safe and secluded. The nights were quiet, and while there is a big road close by, i didn’t have any problem with any sound at all. This spot is a great mid-way point in the UP to stay and be able to see many of the UP’s greatest spots! Cory was a very friendly host, and I would definitely recommend this stay!

I try hard to make this convenient spot as private and relaxing as possible. I’m so glad you enjoyed your time in the UP!

The host went out of his way (WAY out of his way......) to help us when we needed it! We sincerely appreciated his assistance with our rig and its lack of traction. The spot is killer quiet at night, completely secluded from everything.

Our rig was bigger than the host had posted as the maximum size 25 feet. With his permission, we tried it and was barely able to make the turn off the roadway into the spot. I would say the host has the max length of 25 feet completely correct and would not try anything longer than that. Our rig is 56 feet long with the tow vehicle for reference.
The fresh eggs were also top shelf and among the largest I have ever seen.
The fall color was breathtaking with may colors right in the camp site. We are 100% solar powered and did have some difficulty with collecting enough sun for our power requirements, but that 'tree bowl' we were in was well worth it. (Translation, bring alternate power source. :-)
Thanks for a memorable and great stay!

What a special campsite. Not only was Cory super responsive and easy to communicate with but the site was easy to navigate and had everything we needed. Full privacy from other sites, equipped with a grill, wood burner stove, fire pit and picnic table made our weekend super enjoyable. Only downside was the noise from m28, but also great to be so close to it to access all the great things you visit the UP for.

Corey was a great host and very accommodating. There was a mixup with our booking, but Cory provided us with another site and added in firewood for the trouble. Unfortunately, we were unable to partake with any of the wonderful amenities due to rain, but will definitely rebook in the future. Though there were other campers, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.

Very nice and secluded site! The weather wasn’t on our side most of the time but we stayed dry and were hiking Pictured Rocks anyway. Tree coverage was a huge plus and having a private place to camp with a fire ring/picnic table made it a great base camp. Would recommend, just plan for the weather!
