Make your home for the night in the woods by the ocean, tucked in the woods on Frenchman Bay at the end of a private drive, passing through the gate you will feel a sense of peace, joy & tranquility. During clear weather we have fantastic stargazing and sunsets from beach and views of the surrounding mountains and islands.

The property is off a swimmable sand beach on Frenchman's Bay and walkable to to several miles of well maintained hiking trails. At night you will hear the loons, seals in bay, treefrogs, distant coyote howls and owls hooting. 15 minutes from the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia. 45 minutes from Mount Desert Island. For amazing views walk through the woods down to the beach or admire the variety of woodland diversity and tree species.

Please read through our entire description before booking :)

Site is in woods of your choosing on my land, rustic backwoods wilderness rustic no/low amenity camping. There's my home and will be other campers here, and though your firepit and table will be visible from my road, and you may see the occasional passing car on the driveway. I will likely come to say hi to you, please specify if you would like to be left alone. This is not the most private site. To view our other tent site and two cabins, please view this listing from your mobile/web browser and click on “The Point” where it says United States>Maine>The Point

However, this site for tenting can be as deep into the woods as you would like; if so, this site is totally private from any passerby hikers on beach and therefor clothing optional. We are also 420 friendly as it is LEGAL here. While we don’t discourage imbibing this is not the place for a loud party, big groups or any amplified sounds as sound really travels to neighboring sites who may wish for a more quiet time in nature. Quiet hours are observed 9pm-8am..

You may have a fire here in the firepit. We have wood available onsite. If you like to cook over open fire, there is a grate. Site features a picnic table, bench/2 chairs for sitting around the fire and (very dim, in dappled shade woods) solar lights. There are no beach fires permitted at this site. Site has a shovel and bucket for fire safety.

Here you can walk directly to the beach to watch the sunset.  Check in to set up camp by 8 PM at the very latest; please try to ensure to check-in before nightfall to avoid any confusion with finding and orienting yourself to the property and site

This is a leave-no-trace site and there is a dumpster here for your use. We will take your compost! Pls practice mindful consumption prior to your time here in order to plan to minimize waste waste. Our priority is to keep the land here pristine and respected. Our mission to utilize and experience but save and protect the environment can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of YOU!  We are here to prove & provide an extremely magical alternative to the business and chaos of traditional large RV campgrounds, that does not degrade the environment or break the peace that our small town still contains. As a courtesy to Mother Earth and fellow campers, leave all of the land you visit better than you found it& do not burn any trash other than paper products.

Bathroom is a shared Portajohn not too far off (1-2min wall) that has pumped twice a week due to shoreline ordinance zoning restrictions, keep in mind we are not a traditional campground we are a private residential home and wood lot, just homeowners taking care of some acreage and slowly restoring and building things. Love hosting guests. No showers but who cares, ideal for short term stays, go for a swim to freshen up or baby wipes. Not like a traditional campground with normal amenities, we aim for more privacy between sites for peace and quiet. Quick walk to the water. If you have a big RV or want Wi-Fi book at west bay rv or schoodic woods, here things are more rustic and you won’t be packed in like sardines.

Limit of two dogs per party. Dogs must be on leash or strict voice command. Please leash dogs when coming for a meet and greet to my home as we have outdoor pets. This is a wildlife sanctuary; dogs must be well behaved, cannot be allowed to bark in excess and must not be a threat to wildlife.

Please keep your speed down while driving on our quiet neighborhood road and on road. Together we are here to be an example to others of what mindful camping can be and what deservedly respite and respect for nature holds in this seemingly chaotic crazy ever-changing modern world.

I am not a commercial campground nor do I aim to be. Our goal with Hipcamp is to provide a place for seekers of peace to gain a *QUIET TIME* in & better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us. The Point is holding space for the organic growth of regenerative community in an insane world. Thanks for caring and being apart of the solution.

By booking this site you agree to adhere to all rules as stated. Kids count as additional guests; if they use the potty, no matter what age. Although Taft Pt is not strictly adults only, kids between the ages of 2 and 6 are discouraged (but allowed) at this site in favor of booking at the more private Farmhouse Woods site instead. We aim to keep a peaceful atmosphere for ourselves & other guests. Guest will be provided an electronic information packet in gdoc form on Taft Point, Schoodic & Acadia upon req/prior to arrival.

We love welcoming people to our property and are happy to answer any questions about the area prior to your trip. We look forward to meeting new people and making new friends.

Thank you for reading! An additional note from the Hosts: we are so consistently amazed, beyond, bewildered by the wonderful characters, hearts and spirits of our guests here. It’s such an honor and a privilege to be able to meet and host and have you here. Something weird is going on (total glitch in the matrix) where we have just had the most wonderful guests. Hipcamp was never a long-term goal for us but it has been a continual source of positive energy!

We had such a perfect stay at Lily's campsite! The site itself was great with a firepit, chairs, and a picnic table. Only steps from the ocean and right next to a hiking trail. We were really able to unplug and relax. We drove about an hour to Bar Harbor where we enjoyed hiking up some of the mountains, and of course a lobster roll for dinner! Lily was a great host and responded quickly any time we reached out. We hope to stay again in the future :)

We enjoyed every minute of our time at Taft point. Whether we were watching the sunset or making coffee on the beach at low tide, every minute was beautiful. Lily was very helpful and provided very through directions prior to and during our stay. We loved the location and proximity to winter harbor and the Schoodic district of Acadia.

Absolutely loved Lily’s property! It’s a little slice of heaven in the location for all your potential coastal maine explorations! Lily was very responsive to any questions, but also wasn’t intrusive. The campsite was in an ideal spot with a fire pit, Adirondack chairs and a picnic table. Lily even threw up an easy-up tent and strung some lights just in case it rained. We will certainly be back for more! And I can’t wait!

More sunset! I couldn’t even believe how gorgeous! He got to live his best lifeNothing better than dog friendly places! We genuinely enjoyed the private beach.

The site and property were just as described. Communication with the host was very good and we found everything we needed easily. Being right on the water is an incredible experience- one that is not easy to find. I really respect and value the mission of the host and seek to be in nature with minimal impact. The property is surrounded by a beautiful nature conservancy with well marked loops for contemplative walking- it was an added bonus! I can’t say enough about this very special spot and will return again if I’m so fortunate.

This campsite was perfect for what we were looking for. Very secluded and peaceful. Just a short walk down to the bay from the campsite. Lily (host) was friendly and had helpful suggestions of activities in the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend renting kayaks from her. We saw 10+ seals that swam up close to us during our time on the water - one of the top highlights of our whole trip to Maine!
