If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
It was a beautiful area. Lots of Amish farm stands in town, within a mile to 2 miles. Delicious products, produce, etc. Porta potty is a ways away, but can drive to it, and park. Beautiful birds right at cabin, I never saw a black throated blue warbler before! So pretty.
It rained most of the time I stayed, and I am glad to say the cabin was water tight! The wood burner got it nice and toasty too. The property is covered in ATV trails, but are good for walking or running as well. We enjoyed it. So did our dog!
Great site, easy to find and the hostess was great with communicating instructions.
Cabin was as described, and there were some basic amenities available as well. We opted to sleep in our rooftop tent and used the cabin as a place to ride out a big thunderstorm. The porch was the best.
Other info - it’s peaceful, but you will hear traffic noise from the highway. There’s a bit of cell coverage from Verizon there - enough to do what you need to do. ATVs went flying by, so be aware of them.
Everything about Carolyn's land was perfect for what I was looking for. The cabin was new and very nice plus the inflatable mattress was very comfy. I walked around her land the morning after I arrived. There are many nice trails through the woods. The lupines in bloom in the area were gorgeous. The privy was a bit of a walk to get to but not extremely far. It was very clean and had supplies like hand sanitizer. The cabin also had any needed supplies.
Our plans changed at the last moment, so we were unfortunately, unable to stay at this lovely little cabin. But Carolyn couldn’t have been kinder and more accommodating. We look forward to rebooking and staying there next season!
The bees knees
This cottage is perfect spot to crash, a great spot for local trail riding and a spot to actually sit and do a whole lot of relaxing peacefully (coming from city life, this was the bees knees). Unfortunately the rain didnt hold off long enough for my group to hike Katahdin fully, but hanging out here on the deck and by the fireplace inside getting cozy, listening to the rain on the roof was pretty dang relaxing and still worth the 5 hour drive just to chill. Local thriftway store and gas stations made it easy to pick up some essentials if any, id come back any time knowing theres some decent stuff around here and a wonderful place to stay! (If youre lucky you might get to say hello to some local doggo friends, we had a special visit from a neighbors dog who came to say hello!) Thanks for a fantastic space to stay Carolyn!
The stay was very nice and it was perfect for us in our travels, like going hiking for Mount Katahdin. I would definitely lodged at this cabin again. And the price was great compared to other places.
Thank you for this stay! You allowed us to be close enough to travel to Baxter State Park bright and early to hike Mount Katahdin!! It was an amazing adventure and because we were non-Maine residents, it was nearly impossible to get a reservation for hiking this popular mountain. Finding this HipCamp gave us the chance to sleep close by (50 min drive) and get to the Togue Pond Gatehouse SUPER EARLY for an incredible summit that day. Then, we returned to this cozy cabin after and were able to unwind, cook a good meal, and sleep. We didn't use the air mattress, but rather laid out our sleeping bags on the floor of the cabin. Good breeze through the windows, beautiful patio to sit/eat/cook, and nice, private nature surroundings.
