Adam’s Getaway
We had a fun, relaxing visit during Labor Day weekend: this was our base camp to explore Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Arriving at Wheel Inn on Thursday, we bellied up to the bar and asked Diane if we could check in; she directed us to the manager Yvonne who quickly and kindly explained the layout, the policies, and the amenities, while deftly pouring drinks for guests.
The place was clean, cozy, and airy. The fridge had space for beverages and snacks. There were enough power outlets to recharge our phones, but we averaged one bar of LTE, so this was an Internet-free vacation.
The battery-powered light switch and accent lights were dead, but the smoke detector had working batteries, so I appreciate the prioritization.
During our stay, temps plunged into the low 40s: the space heater kept the room in the mid-50s, which was perfect for sleeping bags, which we were told to bring.
Labor Day music: a deejay and a polka band, but the highlight was the cover band Otis Spicoli, playing gems like Icona Pop and a Journey/Metallica mashup.
We cooked most of our meals on the picnic table provided. We did eat in the restaurant one night: I had a delicious cheeseburger, fries, and a beer. The wait staff took good care of us.
Eventually we stopped hearing the drone of the ATVs prowling, and relaxed by reading books and playing board games between road trips.
Next time we visit, I’ll rent an ATV, and make sure I remember the meat raffle at 3 on Saturday!

Adam’s Getaway
Enjoyed our stay, it was relaxing. The cabins are well furnished, with fan and heater as needed. It is not necessarily secluded, it is in the backyard of the bar. However, on nights other than Friday and Saturday, I imagine it is very quiet all the same. There are outlets both outside and inside the cabin, which is very convenient. We had a fridge in our cabin (Adam’s Getaway). There is a volleyball court and corn hole in the yard, so very fun if you’re travelling with a group of friends. We didn’t get to explore too much, but there are hiking trails nearby and two lakes (Thunder and Eagle). The campsite is next to an ATV trail. If you have an ATV, you should bring it, because it looked really fun, and there are tons of ATV trails in that area. There is a little bathroom/shower cabin between the two main cabins, but there is also a bathroom with a shower by the bar area. The bathroom looked new and clean. Lots of firewood behind the cabins. Also, the stars were absolutely amazing.

Not a private or secluded area
The cabin itself is adorable and the concept of it is fantastic. A few things to note that I think others should be aware of and that maybe should be mentioned in advance:
the 2 cabins are very close to one another
the 2 cabins are very close to both bars on property; and one of the bars is an outside bar; so music and partying all night. I honestly thought the cabins were a bit more secluded and not just smack in the backyard of a bar.
The showers are located right next to the outside bar and it is a bit daunting to walk out of a shower with carrying your toiletries and a towel on your head when there is a group of motorcyclists all staring at you while partying.
minimal electricity - there is 1 power strip; but extension cords needed if you want to plug anything in that reaches beyond a foot (cpap machine, example).
The fan that is provided is very very loud and unable to sleep with it on at night; also we had to put the fan outside on the porch facing the door to get air moving, it was so extremely stuffy and beyond hot upon arrival; there was no way that a person could have safely stayed in the cabin had we not thought to put the fan outside.
also; bring flashlights - the 1 lamp provided in the cabin is very low wattage and barely enough light to truly see. If I was truly camping, that would be fine; but because this was more glamping style, we expected better electricity, lighting, and air flow.

A Trip Up North
Super cute spot to stay. The bar is a great oasis when you need something refreshing or a quick bite and don't feel like getting the fire going. The tent/yurt was expertly decorated and they supplied a fan for warmer summer nights. A small fridge kept our necessities cold and the shower and bathroom amenities were updated and well maintained.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place! Clean, comfortable sleeping in both the bed and the cot bunks, beautiful new bathrooms and shower-both very clean as well! But I have to say the best part of the stay was the hospitality!! Everyone was so helpful and friendly! We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Glamping up North with a bar!
This is a cute little “yurt.” The bed was super comfortable! The decorations are modern and rustic. We loved the front porch with solar lighting (only one worked however) and comfy chairs. The bar, The Wheel Inn, was a lot of fun with Brandon behind the bar who was on it all day and night. We had some awesome cheese curds that were squares and pizza. We also joined in on the meat raffle and even won! They have real bathrooms next to the bar which was pretty convenient. The cabin had a little fridge which came in handy, had a huge fan for the day and a heater for the night. It had two outlets with power strips, which was plenty. It could have been a little bit cleaner in a few areas, glass coffee table and a few prior dog and guest hairs. Overall it was a great glamping cabin and weekend!

Glamping fun
Cool cabin tent with very comfy bed and clean. The cabin tent was able to allow nature noises but some privacy too. Cabin tent was near to the outdoor bar for entertainment and beer! New clean bathrooms and showers too!

We had booked the glamping tent for 2 nights and possibly a 3rd night but only stayed 1 night. We were so disappointed with the mattress in our tent. The mattress was so terrible that it left us with no sleep and terrible back aches. We opted to not continue our stay and pack up and find another place to stay for the rest of our weekend.

Wonderful place for a short getaway
My wife and I were looking for a short stay away from home and we are beyond happy we chose to stay here! The cabin was far nicer than even the pictures show and the amenities were all very clean and beautiful! It was nice having the delicious wheel inn close by to grab drinks or food while sitting in front of the fire. Would absolutely recommend and will likely be staying again next year!

Nice rustic cabins, close to parks
The cabins were really nice – they each had a powerful little space heater and a sink, which was super convenient. The bathrooms were just a short walk away and very clean.
I didn't realize how close the cabins are to the bar, which was very busy on Friday and Saturday night. While convenient, because it meant we didn't have to cook all of our meals, it was also a little obnoxious to hear drunk people loudly leave at bar time. The second night was basically a pissing contest between two motorcycles with incredibly loud pipes.
Overall, a good experience at a site that's very close to lots of parks and trails. The locals were very friendly and even let us drive their ATV!

Ok so wheee do I begin? These cabins are so cute y’all! From the most adorable decor to the the most comfortable bed we have ever sleep on. For non camp camp people this was the next best thing. The location was great. Near so many nice lakes, state park and restaurants. We found a waterfall and waterhole only 7 minutes away. The bar and grill had great food and friendly staff. Thank you so much for the great experience. We will be back! Soon!
