The cows will ask for scratches and tickles All the animals have been hand raised from babies and are super friendly. Sandalwood Downs Toodyay operates as a farm stay and has been in high demand for several years now. After years of traveller's requesting caravan and tents sites, Marc and Jane are excited to announce as of March 2024 we now offering 11 caravan/camping/tent sites. With only 11 unpowered sites spread out over 100 acres, you are guaranteed privacy for you and your family and friends. 3 clean instant portable toilets. A refreshing cold bush shower is available on site. The farm also features a fantastic communal area for fellow traveller's to meet, chat, have a few drinks, sit by the amazing fire pit (during winter months), have a BBQ. The farm features many beautiful hand raised farm animals such as, camels, cows, miniature goats, donkeys, alpacas, lambs, deer, a pig, emus, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowls, geese, rabbits, chooks and peacocks. Spend some time strolling the stunning walk trails and taking in the amazing views on the property, The sunsets are vivid and beautiful. The stars shine and sparkle bright. Each site is cleared and levelled siteā€™s available 3 sites accessible by 4WD only (Hill Top Double Tree, The break and The Ledge) SMALL CARAVANS ONLY, camper trailers and tents at these 3 sights. 6 sites accessible by 2WD and 4WD. Suitable for tents, camper trailers and caravans and pop tops. Most sites have chairs and tables, except sites 8, 9. 10 and 11. Fire pit open between 4.30 till 8.30pm. NO INDIVIDUAL CAMP FIRES ALLOWED. Due to guest, animal and property safety. Guest breaking this rule will be asked to leave the property. The Julimar Forest is conveniently located just 2kms away. The fabulous township of Toodyay is only 8 minutes away. Sandalwood Downs Farm: -The property is 100 acres of beautiful tranquility. Perfect for a family getaway or a romantic couple experience. Not suitable for large noisy party groups. -The property is only 45 minutes from Midland and 7 minutes from the wonderful town of Toodyay. RULES AND GUILDELINES. While staying at Sandalwood Downs we would like all visitors to understand and accept the guidelines and rules, which are in place for everybodyā€™s happiness, comfort and safety. YOUR FAMILIES SAFELY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US: - No bikes sorry. As we are a farm we do not have bike trails or paths. The paddocks are uneven terrain with incline and decline and are not safe for riding. - No yelling or squealing in the communal / play ground area. This area is for everybody's enjoyment. If your children are yelling and squealing you will all be asked to leave the communal area. - Please supervise your children at ALL times, this is for their safety. Children are not allowed to roam free around the farm without adults. Please ensure your children do not yell, squeal or run whilst around the animals. -Children must be supervised in the communal playground area, The playground is closed for use at 6.pm. - No lighting of campfires. Local Shire and DEFES have very strong rules regarding this, and if lighting of a fire occurs people will be prosecuted by DEFES and the local Shire up to $36000.00 or 3 years imprisonment, -Fabulous communal fire pit open during winter months. No individual site camp fires due to safety of our property, animals and guests. -If you smoke please place your butts in a sealed fire proof container. Please do not leave them on the ground as it is a fire risk and our animals may eat them causing health issues. -No dogs permitted on the property due to our animals roaming free. -You must be totally self contained, own power and water, (3 clean portable toilet and refreshing cold bush shower are available for use in the communal area). -Please take away all rubbish. -No big party groups. -Quiet time from 7.30pm please. Please consider other guests and our neighbours. -Check out of campsite by 11 am please. -If a gate is closed, please close it behind you as will find it very hard to catch an animal that has escaped. - Please do not enter animal enclosures/ paddocks without Jane or Marc. -As we are a farm and you will be in our farm animals home, we ask you to please be kind and friendly towards all of our animals. -You approach all animals at your own risk -Please do not feed the animals any food that has not been given to you by Jane and Marc. -Please drive very slowly through paddocks 10km per hour as animals roam freely. -You will be handed a rules and guidelines policy when you arrive which includes an emergency and evacuation plan. Make sure you read and make yourself very aware of the guidelines, as your safety is very important to us. -Arrival during day light hours is a must please arrival by 6pm, for yours and our animals safety. The front gate will be locked at 6pm for security reasons and will not unlocked till morning. THESE RULES AND GUIDELINES HELP KEEP EVERYONE HAPPY AND SAFE. Loved the stay. The farm tour is the highlight- just the stay probably a bit overpriced and the farm tour probably cheap for the value. Great hosts and everything smooth

It was nice. Up on Goat Mountain, the view of the rolling hills meeting in the valley was lovely. Kids loved the animals and birds. The visit of goats and alpacas to the camp-site was fun for a pet. Sadly the weather turned next day and soaked us, but that's nature. Only an overnighter to test the new camper trailer, so a few extra nights for next time. Happy to go back. Thanks for letting us stay on you property Jane. Great set up.

I enjoyed tent camping at billabong it was a private spot with a good view of the hills, the animals were friendly and overall a lovely place to stay I definitely will be staying there again and recommend. šŸŒ»

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Goat Mountain. Very easy to get to, very easy to set up your camping space, and kid friendly. The animals are adorable. Portable toilets were well maintained and in good condition. We'll definitely be back!!

Fantastic spot, a little up the hill away from other sites and with great view. Perfect if you are self sufficient. Slight slope to site. Only downside was no animals in the field with us! The animals around the farm are absolutely beautiful and super friendly. 10 mins drive in Toodyay.

Thank you Jane for sharing your wonderful farm with us for the weekend. It did not take long after our arrival for some of the animals to come and say hello and being woken up by the sounds of wildlife was really special. Our site (no.2 behind the old bus) was ideal and we will definitely be visiting again.

Authentic farmstay! Very peaceful. Sites are very spread out. Can hardly see anyone. The animals are next level! So many of them and they are all friendly. Definitely the best farmstay in regards to animals interaction, Iā€™ve been too. The owners have 4 dogs. The dogs were my favourite! Beautiful, calm natured pets. Couldā€™ve easily taken them home ā¤ļø

The Beautiful Billabong (site 6)
Beautiful spot! Loved the views. Very friendly animals, had the sheep come join us at our campsite. Walked up the hill to see other sites, definitely will book for next time as the views were spectacular x

Highlander Heights (site 4)
This was our first hipcamp experience and it was brilliant! The sites were spaced out so it felt private, was wonderful wandering the farm and checking out the property. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful, we will be coming back!

The knowledge Marc & Jane have about their large variety of animals is amazing and they are the nicest people. We camped 2 x nights on Highlander Heights and after exploring all campsites by foot, this was definitely the pick.

We had a lovely weekend out on Sandalwood Farm! Jane and Marc are both lovely. Very warm, welcoming and hospitable. They were responsive, quick to answer questions and very informative. We did the farm tour as well and that was a cool experience, with opportunities to feed baby goats, meet and learn about lots of unique and interesting farm critters and loads of photo ops! Our campsite was very spacious and pretty. We had site 1 near the creek, which was awesome for the kids. The toilets, playground and general grounds were all very clean and well-kept. It's a lovely, organised set up. I'm so glad we went. Thanks for having us Jane and Marc!

Absolutely loved our stay at Goat Mountain! The place was even better than we expected ā€” peaceful, beautifully set up, and surrounded by friendly farm animals who loved hanging out with us. It felt perfectly private, yet we were made to feel so welcome. The positioning of our camp site had great views and easy access to chatting to the animals. You can really tell the owners have poured their hearts into creating a haven for happy animals ā€” and for the people lucky enough to visit them. Couldnā€™t fault a thing, weā€™ll definitely be back!

We had such a great time camping at Sandlewood Downs! All of the animals are so friendly, happy and well looked after. The farm tour is amazing and Jane and Marc are so informative and doing wonderful things out there. Highly recommended!

The Beautiful Billabong (site 6)
We had a fabulous time at Sandalwood Downs. The camp sites were well spaced out and private, and there was a great choice of 2WD and 4WD accessible sites. The hosts were friendly and informative and clearly passionate about their property and animals, the animals were delightful and the children loved interacting with them from sun up to sun down. The facilities were clean and more than what you would usually expect camping in a field. The farm itself is located a very short drive from the Toodyay town centre which has anything you might need in terms of shops, restaurants, fuel etc. It feels secluded but is close to town and in reality not too far from Perth itself. We would also recommend the additional farm animal feeding tour, Mark was so knowledgeable and happy to have a chat and the kids were besides themselves feeding the animals and riding the (in service) fire truck.

Great camping spot! Very beautiful surroundings with animals roaming through the paddock was camped in. The kids loved being around the animals and the playground was great too. The hosts were lovely, we will be back :)

Wonderful weekend at Sandalwood Downs. Each sites are away from each other. Even when the sites are full during school holiday weekend, it still feels private and quiet. Lots of animals around. Weā€™ve visited multiple times and is one of our favourite hipcamp.

Just an excellent find! Spontaneous trip away with my 6 year old son. Camp spot was great, located close to toilets and playground, and felt really secure as a single female traveller. Simple but clean facilities, portaloos dosed with detol regularly, and the bush shower offing a clean rinse on the last day. Owners absolutely lovely, and all the animalā€™s incredibly friendly. We enjoyed a hike up the hill, and the farm tour particularly. Will be back again, and with friends in tow. Thank you Mark and Jan for having us.

We loved our stay! Beautiful countryside with a lovely farm. It was so fun having the animals around and the farm tour was great. Our children are hesitant with animals and all felt very comfortable before long. The toilets and communal area with playground are excellent, the owners/staff all very friendly. We would love to return and highly recommend.

An authentic farm stay - as adverised! We came for an educational experience for our grand-daughter. It is not a caravan park with the usual fancy facilities but a stay especially focusing on a range of animals in a farm setting. The tour was outstanding. Think the rainy periods added to the reality! Marc was an exceptional tour guide! Thanks Ken and Audrey
