The best camping in Western Australia

·

Hemmed in by beaches and turquoise waters, Western Australia is known for its coast, but the sprawling state has much more to offer. Venture inland to see deserts dotted with ancient monoliths and sun-baked vineyards; discover 19th-century gold rush towns; or hike through red rock gorges. Spring and fall bring the best weather for wine tasting or hiking through the national parks, while the summer heat is best enjoyed on the beach. Winter temperatures are still balmy enough to explore outdoors, with wildflowers blooming along the coast.

Perched along the Swan River and blessed with year-round sunshine, Perth brings the good life. In the city, wine tasting cruises, riverside barbecues, and parks will keep you outdoors, while the neighboring port town of Fremantle serves up beaches and ocean-fresh seafood. Holiday parks and camping sites dot the surrounding countryside, providing easy access for campers and caravans.

The Coral Coast stretches north of Perth, from Kalbarri and Shark Bay to Coral Bay and Exmouth. Sand melts into turquoise waters; bands of coral teem with tropical fish, manta rays, and whale sharks; and Cape Range National Park’s rocky gorges snake down to the ocean. Outdoor adventures abound, from snorkeling and kayaking the Ningaloo Reef to bushwalking and beach camping.

From Esperance on the south coast all the way up to Newman, the Golden Outback rolls out white-sand beaches, kaleidoscopic salt lakes, and rocky canyons. Whether off-roading in a four-wheel drive or winding through the outback in a caravan, there are ample opportunities for road tripping, with camping sites and holiday parks dotted throughout. Along the way, dive into Aussie’s gold rush heritage in Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields, walk Lucky Bay, and keep an eye out for wildflowers.

Rolling headlands, sloping vineyards, and seaside towns provide the perfect backdrop for wine tasting and coastal walks in the Margaret River region. Albany, Bunbury, and Bussleton are among the most popular places to stay, with access to the region’s many beaches, wineries, and camping spots.

Dusty red desert tracks wind their way through the Kimberley region to Broome and Kununurra, where the vast outback is home to otherworldly scenery and rich Aboriginal heritage. Get a taste of Australia’s wild west out here—drive the Gibbs River Road, stopping to hike through ancient gorges, swim in remote waterholes, and enjoy campfires under the stars.

5 beautiful acres in the Swan Valley with horses, we run a horse rehoming charity from here where all proceeds from hipcamp go to support our facility. Along with plenty of horses, you'll also see kangaroos at certain times and our pet sheep Jamima who thinks she's a horse! A superb property with a winter creek and an open paddock where the horses live. It's very peaceful. There are only two camping sites available on this wonderful property at any time so privacy is assured. There is also a dam on the property so please mind any children with absent swimming abilities. Campfires are allowed during the season, and there is a toilet and shower available in the shed 100 meters from the camping area. Smaller groups booking the campsites will have full access to the toilet and shower. Please note, however, we offer a group camping option for larger groups but those booking this option must be fully self-contained as our facilities are not enough to support a large group. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy here, we kindly ask that you take all rubbish with you when you leave. We also ask that you please do not feed the horses. The property is well located to access many great wineries and cafes in the famous Swan Valley area, some within walking distance. Security here is taken care of by Mr security guard "aka" Smoky our pet dog. He's very safe and timid. If you get a pat from this boy I know you're good, so beware! We are dog friendly here, so you're welcome to bring mans best friend and we also have a secure yard to house any pets if you need a break, so long as they don't hassle the horses. We may also be able to accommodate your horse - please discuss this with us prior to booking. We look forward to welcoming you to Everything Horses ltd where you can enjoy one of the last pockets of peace left in the Swan Valley area. We are everythinghorsesltd on Facebook with current uploads to see more of the property and animals here. The Rockcliffe vineyard was originally an apple orchard. In 1990, the first vines were planted, and in 2007 we built a "State of the Art winery", which is located on the property. Rockcliffe is now the biggest winery in the region. We sell wines all over the world and in Australia. We focus on producing small batches of high-quality wines, all of which can be tasted at the Rockcliffe Cellar Door. We welcome self-contained travelers to come and stay for 1, 2 or 3 nights maximum. On booking your site, you will be amongst the vines on one of our levelled bays which are allocated on a first come basis. It is important you have your own toilet, as we do not offer facilities here outside of our cellar door hours. Overflow camping is also available in the paddock across from the winery, suitable over summer when it is dry and we are running our summer music events over the weekend. Please get in touch to enquire about this. The place is very quiet, being in a rural setting, but only 4km from Denmark town. If you are a cyclist, this is an ideal place to stay. We have a mountain biking track that goes around the vines, paddocks, and through the forests, all of which are part of the beautiful Rockcliffe property. The camping areas are a very short walk to the cellar door where you can taste all of our delicious wines or treat your children to Gelato and Fudge. We also offer Cheese Platters, Pizza's and Fries. The kitchen is open from 12-4pm for lunch Sunday through till Thursday and from 1-7pm for lunch and dinner Friday and Saturdays.

‼️ THE RIVER IS VERY LOW DUE THE HOT AND DRY WEATHER. IT HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED FLOWING AT RAPID CORNER AND IS REALLY LOW AT THE OTHER SITES PRIVATE SITES‼️ Murray Valley Camping features campsites that are completely open in nature. Each site is close to the Murray River and is surrounded by nature, so you truly feel far away from the rest of the world. The property is close to the famous Bibbulmun track, with Harvey and Boddington equal distances away, so options to explore the region easily. Campers can go for walks along the river, relax, and enjoy the sounds of nature. Throw your kayak in for a paddle. Throw a line in and try your luck at fishing. As the day slips away, catch a beautiful sunset, as you toast marshmallows by the campfire (outside of fire restriction times). There are no toilets or amenities, so all campers need to be fully self-contained in that respect, with their own camp toilet and water, and we ask you to take all waste when you go. There’s also little to no cell reception at the sites. There is background noise from the nearby conveyer belt that goes on and off randomly. Some people take it as soothing white noise while others think it’s overbearing. Pet-friendly, so you're welcome to bring your four-legged friend along. Unplug from everyday life, escape and reconnect with friends and family in nature.

We are a biodynamic winery and farm, our vines were already established when we purchased the land just over 3 years ago and some of the first planted in the region. The farm is a working farm and well.. a massive work in progress. Our passion is the land, the environment, making good wine, listening to music, eating good food and sharing all of this with our community. We are opening up our farm to share with like minded souls who share the same passions as us (our community). Over the years we have started to learn about the secret spots on our property. The ones which are secluded, capture beautiful pieces of light at certain times of the day, where the black cockatoos love to rest on the branches of the gum trees, the areas where weeping peppermints create a haven and the frequencies of the frogs elevate at certain times of the year and times of the day are so loud that you cant hear yourself think. As a result we have several spots on our property we would love to share with like minded people who have a love for nature, music and wine. PLEASE BE AWARE WE HAVE NO FACILITIES such as toilets, showers and water. Our region 'Margaret River' is famous for wine but there are so many other things that make this place special. A wild but beautiful coastline uninhibited by people, karri forest, caves, mountain bike trails and a 120km coastal walk. We are also known for surfing and close by are a number of world famous breaks including Surfers Point which is located 20 minutes from the farm. Closer to the farm you can enjoy a short walk to a beautiful winery called SI Vintners, drive to The Berry Farm or the quirky town of Witchcliffe. At Witchcliffe you will find Darnell's General Store which has a gift shop (The Shed), cellar door (Amato Vino), coffee shop (Witchy Brews) and fantastic pub (Dear Darnells), newly opened McHenry Hohnen Vintners wine bar and vintage stores which it has become renown for.

Hello, welcome to Rosa Glen Farm in Margaret River. The farm ground campsites are for those who are looking to escape with no power, no water and no facilities and little mobile coverage if you are not with Telstra. Campers need to be fully self contained.
