Welcome to Savannah Campground, a privately owned 10-acre property just 20 km outside of Derby, near the iconic Gibb River Road. There is one private campsite available — perfect for solo travellers, couples, or small groups. The site suits 4WDs or AWDs with single axle camper trailers with space for up to two vehicles (no caravans) private access directly off Bungarun Road. While the road is often corrugated, taking it slow makes for an easy and manageable trip. Tucked away in a quiet section of the property, the campsite offers peace, privacy, and a rich connection to nature. Surrounded by native bush and shaded by trees, it's an ideal spot for birdwatching and wildlife encounters — Agile wallabies are regular visitors. A basic campfire is in place, and plenty of dry firewood can be gathered from the surrounding bush. Fresh water is available from a tank fed by a pristine local aquifer. The property owner lives onsite in the main house and is happy to assist with water access or share local tips and knowledge. Nearby, enjoy scenic walks along the Derby marsh or visit the historic Bungarun Leprosarium. Savannah Campground also makes an excellent base for day trips to Windjana Gorge or local fishing spots such as Blue Holes, located less than 20 km down the road — great for casting a line, setting a crab pot, or launching a tinny when the tides align. Derby town is well-equipped with essentials and amenities. You'll find Woolworths, IGA, a chemist, hospital, hardware stores, and three petrol stations. There’s also a public library, several cafés, and a variety of takeaway options - everything you need for a comfortable stay or a quick resupply.Campsite Details - There’s one private campsite available, ideal for solo travellers, couples, or small groups.
