Secluded Homestead Great Hosts
Nik and Beth are the best hosts I’ve ever stayed with on hipcamp. They have a long gravel drive that can be quite steep at times so make sure your car can handle that. Our campsite was near the creek and freshly cleared when we got there. Nik and Beth were nice enough to share their bbq dinner with us and talked at length about their life on the homestead. They showed us all their livestock and patiently answered all our questions. You could not ask for nicer or more generous hosts. I hope to come back and stay for longer!

Beautiful field along a babbling stream (crik) not far from the small homestead farm. The hosts are very friendly, happy to have you hang out with them or enjoy solitude in your own space. We enjoyed our stay.

Creek camping with stargazing
Nik and Beth’s campsite was great! We got in late, but they were still accommodating and showed us the site, provided us with the best firewood i’ve ever used, and were very hospitable. Their 3 dogs were friendly and playful. We got to walk around their farm to see their bunnies and pigs, which was lovely. The creek sounds and the stars at night were lovely and made for a wonderful nighttime experience. two things to note: the site we stayed at did not have a grate over the fire to cook and the gravel road to drive to the farm is bumpy…drive slow and carefully. I would highly recommend Nik and Beth’s farm campsite.

Quiet and Secluded
What a beautiful place, quiet and secluded. Nik and Beth are terrific people and excellent hosts. Really enjoyed our time with them and look forward to a return trip in the future.
I would mention that the last 1 ½ miles are fairly steep downhill with tight turns and a gravel surface. We had no issues getting down or up and I doubt most people will either.

Very helpful! Nik was at the bottom of the mountain to greet me when I got there because it was late. Minimal cell service in camp ground. I have a 2WD (honda fit) and had some slight trouble getting back out on one particularly steep part of the road in but besides that could manage ok. Would recommend!

Perfect for Overland Camping
We enjoyed our stay at Coon Creek and the drive in was spectacular. Our group of 7 trucks spent just one night before leaving and the hosts were very accommodating. Tucked in a holler keeps the even temps slightly lower in the summer months which was refreshing. Thanks so much, we’ll be back on our next adventure through the area!

We absolutely loved our stay with Nik and Beth! Very generous hosts who let us camp wherever we liked and then let us explore the mountains that they call home. Their property is absolutely gorgeous, dogs are wonderful, and we had a blast sitting around the fire in the main circle at night eating, laughing, and carrying on. 10/10 the very best 4th of July we could have. "This place is the tits" (lol). We absolutely will be visiting again and are avidly looking forward to visiting our new friends.

Tranquil - need higher clearance ve
Coon creek cove is so peaceful and quiet. We came from NC and met family from PA, and we were so looking forward to a few days of catching up and relaxing in and by the creek. The property is so natural and beautiful, and we spent an afternoon sitting in the creek when it got warm out.
Nik was very hospitable. There is a cute and clean outhouse that he cleaned out twice per day. Their dogs were very sweet and gentle.
The only trouble we had was getting our cargo trailer-camper conversion through the creek bed that you have to drive through to get to the site. It's a regular cargo trailer, not lifted or anything. We ended up having our family member walk beside the camper and move large rocks that we could not clear. The steps on the camper are pretty bent, but those can be replaced. It's still worth the wonderful time that we had.
If you have any questionable clearance issues, this will be a tough one to navigate... if at all.

Peaceful get away in the hallow
I can’t wait to go back!!! We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday evening and Sunday morning in this lovely camp site! It was an adventure for sure! Be sure to drive a 4x4 as the road washes out and you drive through the creek. We enjoyed learning about Niks homestead life and absolutely loved the company of his dogs! We saw a baby fawn and enjoyed a lovely stroll down the mountain road. The stars were breathtaking as well. We highly recommend this camp site!

Remote, Kid Friendly, Great Hosts
Staying with Beth and Nik was a fantastic experience for our whole family. Beth was communicating with us before our stay and helped show us some hidden gems. Nik was so kind to show us their animals and Beth even had toys for our kids (5 and 2). The camp site is a big, flat, mowed area surrounded by woods, wildflowers, and a creek. Our children loved it and so did we! The kids especially loved the trees for their hammock and how friendly Beth and Nik were. We hope to return!

Great place to stay! Nik was extremely friendly and had lots of useful and interesting information for my partner about his land usage, future plans, and caring for his animals. Campsite was nice and secluded and well-care for outhouses (a luxury!)

Loved it at Coon Creek Cove. The hosts where very friendly and welcoming. We interacted with the animals on their farm. Gave us eggs from their chickens to eat at camp. Delicious! Everyday asked us if we needed anything. Knowledgable about the area. Will be back and loved our experience there. Thank you! Diane and Riley.

Nick and Beth were gracious enough to take us in last minute on our pass through the area. Their
homestead was well maintained and many different areas to chose from for camping.
will be sure to come back next time we’re in the area.

Secluded, welcoming homestead!
You won’t find a much more secluded spot! So beautiful with the mountain stream running through the middle!
1. Gravel mountain pass is accurate AF. I felt like a rockstar getting my camper over it myself. Don’t let it intimidate you! It’s worth it!
2. Our dog had the time of his life. He played with their dogs who are phenomenally friendly, sweet, and well-behaved.
3. This is a homesteaders dream and Nik and Beth are so welcoming!! They let us park right next to their camper so we could get electric. They have so many big plans for this place. It’s amazing. We can’t wait to come back.

To camping heaven, and beyond!
This review is way overdue, but better late than never! My husband, friend, and I camped at Coon Creek Cove for a week in August. It was by far, the best camping trip we have ever been on. Nik and Beth helped us book both sites on the field so that we could have privacy for COVID-19 purposes. It was so peaceful, and not to mention our dogs loved the site, too. We had a blast taking them for walks in the creek. I even got out of my comfort zone a bit by driving my Subaru up and down the very long gravel road, and through the creek after major rainstorms. Lol! The area that Coon Creek Cove is in took a bit to get used to, as the reception is either non existant or spotty.
However, Nik and Beth made the experience 100x better! My husband helped Nik make a rabbit hutch, and we got an opportunity to tour the farm. I truly believe that Nik and Beth have become our friends, and we absolutely plan to return! Since our friend had to leave early, Beth went on some outings with me to Kroger, to get cheesesteaks, and to go swimming in Sutton Lake. Finally, they hooked us up with barbeque, eggs, and tons of firewood!
This place is highly recommended!

Almost Heaven. Well, Paradise.
Never knew that such an adventurous place existed that was only a few hours from Cincinnati. What true Hip camping is all about. Interesting adventures in a truly 'Wild and Wonderful' area of the country. The land and the people are so unique. Nik and Beth made us feel right at home from the get go and were eager to share their vision for the area they have come to call home. Place is a treat and yes, is home to the Legend of Bigfoot and the Myth of the Flatwood Monster.
