Best in Washington: Finalist
Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2023.
One of the oldest original homesteads in the area, for nearly 150 years this gem has been in the family. We have shared it with many people over the years and would love to share it with you! These beloved woods are the remaining part of the once vast, St. Martin homestead-started in the late 1800s. Our family ties and our roots grow very deeply in these woods-we've been born and raised here and continue to strive to be good stewards of these lands. Pristine woods, trails, river access, and more! Located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, 60 minutes east of Portland, 25 minutes west of Hood River. A truly tranquil place to enjoy exclusively, or to use as a basecamp for the unlimited adventures possible in this scenic area. Welcome and enjoy!

Springs Meadow
#1 spring meadow. This is a spacious site bordered on four sides by (1) the river, (2) the creek, (3) the road (so some traffic coming by), and (4) the woods. Summer 2024 there is a fire pit as well as split logs for sitting and food prep—a great set up. Near the river is an area for sitting and wading. Hike up stream a bit for some great-looking swimming (too cold in June). The road coming in is narrow, and the hiking is arduous. Blackberries are invading, as they do, but they are mostly mowed back. There were a couple of big groups camping at the other sites, and we didn't hear a thing.

Eagle's Nest
Beautiful property
This was our second time camping at Eagle's Nest, and we enjoyed it again. The only hiccup was with getting into the gate. I used the Hipcamp app to forward driving directions/gate instructions to others in our party, but the info was inaccurate. The host sent a separate message directly to me the day prior to our trip, explaining how to get in the gate. I did not realize this info was different from what my guests received. It was not a huge issue, just a minor inconvenience and something to be aware of if you camp here; verify everyone has the same instructions :)

Eagle's Nest
We loved our stay at Eagle's Nest. It was exactly as described, and perfect for our family of 5. The hot springs were still cold this time of year, so we enjoyed the river, hiking paths, tree swing, and all the little critters. The wildflowers are beautiful, and abundant on the property. The composting toilets are the best outdoor toilets I've ever used—clean, well stocked, and clear instructions. We plan to come back in the fall.

King Fisher
Awesome Campground (King Fisher)
We stayed at King Fisher and loved it. Really nice secluded spot by the creek. We had 8 guests so fitting 4 tents was a little tricky so the tents were a little close but still had plenty of room. The trail to get in is a bit narrow and a little far from the cars but not bad at all. Wagons were very helpful but a bit hard to move on the trail in some spots. The compost outhouse was really nice. Overall really beautiful spot. Saw tons of bald eagles, swam in the river, and hung out in the creek next to the site. I'd definitely recommend this spot and will try to come back! Host was really nice and helpful as well.
