Looking for an ideal family getaway spot? With our unique location nestled in the foothills of Stewart Mt and the peaceful Squalicum Valley. Rusty Ranch Tree Farm offers 110 acres of meadows and forest. Our location provides easy access to much of our local recreation options and is only 10 min east of Bellingham. The camp area is spacious and can easily accommodate your family and even a couple of friends. Scattered trees offer shade, and large grassy areas provide ample space to roam. Rusty Ranch Tree Farm is dedicated to "Eduction through Exploration" where we strive to provide your family and friends with more than just camping but also a place to experience nature and learn about forestry, farming and making maple syrup from trees right here on our farm.. Hike the several miles of nature trails on the hillside and explore our 65 acres of certified forest. Placards on the nature trail are part of our self-guided tour and provide information about forestry and the plants and animals that call this their home. Wander through the old growth groves, walk the 50' boardwalk and see the magical Fern Ridge. There are abundant wildflowers and seasonal berries to pick, as well as a variety of fall apples and pears in the old orchard available for self harvest. You can even purchase a tree to take home and plant. Other farm experiences include a guided interactive nature tour for your group, a class on making maple syrup, or experience farm life and "hang with the hens." We also offer the opportunity to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables brought to your site. Don't forget to stop by the Snack Shack for fresh cinnamon rolls, ice cream bars, snacks, drinks, apparel and locally made gifts. I hope you will choose to stay with us for your next adventure.

Welcome to our 110-acre tree farm.  We offer hiking, foraging, camping and a self-guided nature tour. Hawthorne Loop is a large circular site with extra space for your family or to share with friends. Scattered trees offer shade and the large grassy areas around the site provides ample space to roam. It is a short walk to the creek below where you can sit and relax. Follow the nature trails up the hillside and explore our certified forest. See the old-growth grove, the 50' boardwalk, 100-year-old stumps and the magical Fern Ridge. There are abundant wildflowers, seasonal berries, as well as a variety of fall apples and pears. Visit the Game Shack or let the kids play at the playground. We have balls, frisbee, corn hole boards, horseshoes, ring toss, tether ball, a volleyball area and more. PLEASE NOTE: All sites are DRY CAMPING.  PRICE: Price Includes 1 RV or 1 car and 1 tent.  If you wish to share this site, there is an ADDITIONAL charge per RV/Tent of $20 per night. Creekside Tent Site

Creekside Tent Site is a large, neatly mowed grassy area with a view of the creek below. This site is dry camping, Creekside has easy gravel road access and includes a large fire pit area,  picnic table and a 10' x 20' shade canopy. This site is best suited for tents, campers, camper vans, sprinter vans and SMALL trailers. (May require minimal leveling for vehicles) All our sites are part of our tree farm experience. We have 110 acres with over 3 miles of hiking trails and 3 picnic areas along the trails. We also have mowed paths around our hay fields. Enjoy the self-guided nature trail or request a guided tour. PRICE: Our price is for 1 family unit or up to 5 people. This is a smaller site and not suitable for groups. If you have more than 5 people in your family or group please consider booking one of our other sites. Please note, we can only accommodate tents or smaller vehicles under 20ft. Please message me if you have questions prior to booking. FIREWOOD: PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. Welcome to Rusty Ranch. We offer 110 park-like acres in the peaceful Squalicum Valley. Our private group area is tucked away along the edge of the woods and above the creek. We offer an 18' x 20' covered shelter,2 picnic tables, a playground area and access to Game Shack. A well maintained gravel road provides easy access for vehicles and RV's up to 27'. Please note that this is dry camping and there are no hookups. PRICING: The base price is per night up to 15 guest. Additional guest are $5 each per night. There is a MAXIMUM of 5 RV's/tents allowed at this site. Please let us know at time of booking how many campers, RVs, tents will be in your group. Should you have a larger group and would like more space, there is an smaller group spot in the same area (Painted Pony) that can be reserved for a larger gathering. AMENITIES: This site includes a fire pit, 18' x 20' covered shelter and picnic table, a private composting pit toilet (cleaned daily) and a hand washing station with non-potable water. DESCRIPTION: Rusty Ranch's Rustic Bunkhouse and Corral gives you access to 110 acres of hay fields and forested hillside. Horse and hiking trails leave right from your camp area. While camping here, you can hike or ride our trails, the mowed paths around the hay fields, or drive to one of many local trails. The popular Y Road trailhead is only 2 miles south. Other popular trails are 20-40 min away. PRICING: IF YOU BRING PETS THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL $20 PET CLEANING FEE. Please add this to your EXTRAS when you check out. For those camping with horses, there is a $5 corral use fee per horse, PER NIGHT. Bunkhouse sleeps 4 people. You may share this site with 1 additional RV/Tent for $20/night. Perfect Spot for a Large Group!

We had a company camping trip here and the site was perfect! The pavilion came in handy when the rain came down hard, and there was plenty of space for all of us. I heard many positive comments about the outhouses and how nice they were. The host was very friendly and provided us an excellent experience!

I loved staying at the Rusty Ranch! Had very rainy weather so the campground wasn’t super full - having the big canopy over the picnic table was clutch! Margaret was great and made sure I had everything I needed, and I loved meeting the animals, hiking through the forest, and picking salmonberries by the creek. This would be a great spot to visit with kids as there are lots of family friendly amenities.

Rustic Bunkhouse & Corral
We loved the peaceful and relaxing setting of the cabin site. The cabin was very sweet and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking the salmon we purchased, by the campfire. The outdoor table with canopy was great for shade as well as setting up our camp stove. The trails through the forest and fields were well kept, and much enjoyed. The whole property appears to be maintained with much love and care.

The host made us feel welcome and at home. Rusty Ranch was a great location to disconnect but also close enough to Bellingham to be able to explore. We will definitely be back.

Went to Bellingham for ski to sea and stayed here 2 nights. Everything was very well set up, the host was super friendly and helpful. The area is beautiful, the campsites are well established, the outhouse is one of the best I’ve seen. Lovely nature trails and quite convenient location. 10/10, no notes.

Hawthorne Loop
Rusty Ranch was our first Hipcamp and we were impressed! Our little boys enjoyed the easy hiking trails, playgrounds and chickens, our dog bounded around the woods and meadow (with us close by) and we loved the quiet, secure camping. The entire property was well taken-care-of and the campsites were spread out. It's like a private state park. We'll be back!

Despite the rain our 3 day camping weekend was outstanding at The Rusty Tree Farm. Her hospitality and friendliness are over the top. She went out of her way to make the additional experiences for our grandkids, personal and meaningful (Hang with the Hens and Pony Time). The land is well groomed, and she is an outstanding steward. The additional shelters and outhouse are incomparable to anything we have ever experienced. We will definitely be back to stay.

I loved camping at Misty Meadows! We were camping with friends and it was the perfect spot. The campground was beautiful and there was a pavilion with a fantastic fire pit. They made sure we had everything we needed and had lawn games and firewood on the property!

This was our second stay at this site, and it was just as good as the first. Hospitality is top notch, yet private. All the walking trails are great and extremly pet friendly. RV parking is super awesome, just pull right in to a level gravel spot and a full turnaround to get out. Can't ask for more than that. Although some would complain about no water or power, there is an outhouse and people should simply plan accordingly. All of the spots are private and great. We will be back, my dogs are already trying to book online.

We loved Scott and Margaret’s land. It was beautiful and peaceful. My daughter enjoyed seeing the farm animals and enjoyed the playground. It was really nice to have a covered area over the picnic table!

Nice big loop, trail entrances do go through the sides of the site but we had no one walk them and enter our booked area. Outhouses were cleaned daily, covered area was great but being your own light sources for night, lots of trails and swing sets. Easy open drive in on a paved road. No cell service. Bring your own water and power resources.

Had a short stay here last minute in the cabin and it was wonderful! Definitely would love to come back another time for longer so I can explore the property more. The cabin has a top bunk bed and a full sized futon that was actually very comfortable. The bottom bunk is two benches with a table which was nice to eat and play cards on. There is a campfire pit and a compost outhouse which was very clean and nice. A snack shack is available where you can purchase stuff with cash or Venmo. Hope to be back next year!

Words are utterly useless in describing our time on Margaret’s property, but I’ll try. Margaret is exceptional; great hospitality, active communicator, and such a sweet soul. The property is astounding, well maintained, and incredibly family friendly. My daughter was obsessed with the farm life, that was the highlight every morning and evening. Perfect location for meandering towards Mount Baker or wanting to enjoy the perks along HWY 20; nothing was too far in my opinion. We explored Bellingham and Vancouver BC. Our nana is visiting and we always take her to new places around WA. The add on options were a delight; we enjoyed the salmon and cinnamon rolls. The playgrounds were a perfect spot to wind down after a long day. The privy’s were impeccable and maintained daily. This did not feel like camping. The cabin is cozy and perfect for our small group. We cannot wait to return. Thank you Margaret for absolutely everything.

Our annual trip to the Rusty Ranch was wonderful. As usual, Margaret took care of our ever-growing group and was gracious with her time, letting our kids feed the animals and showing them different parts of the farm. The site, trails, and bathrooms were well managed, and there were a few new things for the kids to play with like a homemade three hole mini golf course. Looking forward to our 2026 visit already!

So lovely! All the thoughtful touches were so kind and generous! We will definitely be staying again! Our daughter loved the playground and games, our son loved the hiking trails!

Rustic Bunkhouse & Corral
Excellent place to enjoy the beauty of the forest & unwind. This is the most peaceful place I’ve ever stayed. The little cabin was perfect!

Beautiful property and well maintained. Also they have thoughtful amenities and toys for kids. The sites are spaced out nicely also to allow some privacy. Good camping !

Painted Pony
Scott & Margaret’s Rusty Ranch, a lovely, well-planned camping spot, made our recent stay in Bellingham delightful. We appreciated the large site with a picnic table, fire ring, and shelter. The charming composting toilet functioned quite well. Our Painted Pony site was quiet and peaceful, and we had a barred owl observing our breakfast activities. I imagine that this camping spot, with playground, playfields and hiking trails would be terrific for families with children. Recommended!

This was our second time at Rusty Ranch! We love staying here. It’s the perfect spot to camp with your family. There is an awesome snack shack, a clean outhouse, a game shack, playgrounds and private hiking trails! Our little one had a blast exploring the grounds with us and meeting the chickens.

Hawthorne Loop
Rusty Ranch continues to be one of my favorite Hipcamp sites. It’s the perfect balance of peaceful tranquility and outdoor adventuring. I was camping alone with my pup until the rest of the family could join me and I felt completely safe and at ease. We walked the field loops every morning and evening and enjoyed hiking the trails during the day. Scott and Margaret have clearly poured a lot of love into this space and we’re so grateful that they’re willing to share it will us!
