Gaia Rising Farm Campsite
Pretty, but overgrown
I can tell this is a beautiful property, but when I arrived, it looked like it hadn’t been maintained for awhile. Tons of tall grass everywhere, even surrounding the fire pit, and I wasn’t exactly sure where the campsite was given the pictures showing one area by the pond, but the table and benches in another. Anyways…my allergies went crazy and I had to vacate before I even unpacked, but maybe this will be nice for someone else? I didn’t hear anything from the host either which felt a little odd.
But still a very pretty property.

Sequoia's land is a very special place on a very special island... walking distance to the general store, to the sea, to a labyrinth (look it up), and other special spots. Campsite is set up with a table and benches, an outhouse (! such a bonus), and a fire pit near her majestic pond, though I didn't end up using it. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and recommend it to those who appreciate a peaceful camping experience.

Our campsite at Gaia rising farm was secluded and had ample room for our truck and tent. It was nice to have a picnic bench and be neighbors with the sheep. There were some construction noises going on nearby that were somewhat unpleasant but not sure how that could be helped. We left one night early because smoke blew in from fires in eastern Washington but overall it was a pleasant place to stay.

Secluded clearing
Such a cute site!
Pit toilet is a short walk down a wooded path. Trail to the pond (fire pit if no burn ban) and sheep! Fun to hear their bleating.
Great short bike ride to Kelley Point for beach walks.
Beat homemade jam at Country Store practically at the entrance to the property.

Perfect location near the ferry dock. We had a car but you could reach it by bicycle or even by foot.

Beautiful, quiet, retreat pond
Gaia Rising Farm is now one of my favorite campsites in the PNW. When we stayed, Sequoia was only renting one campsite so we had the whole place to ourselves. Our small group of 5 had a fabulous time and could have easily held a few more tents. The pond is lovely, albeit small, and you can walk down the road to beach access on this beautiful beach for a nice ocean swim in the morning. The wooded area is rustic but we found it perfect for the main 'kitchen campsite' and then you can put tents in a few different spots near the pond or in the woods. There is room for 1-2 vans but it's cozy. We had 3 cars and a 4th could have been fine if you back out the driveway.
Sequoia is fabulous and was super helpful when I arrived to setup. We walked down the road (15 min) to the Guemes General Store for a concert, and then drove to the Guemes Mt Hike for a fabulous view.
Highly recommend for a small retreat, campout, or family time even. Grounds are pretty basic, but that's the beauty of Hipcamp, you can sorta setup your own thing and make it unique.
Bring lots of water and maybe consider a hanging shower, walking up to the house for more water probably would have taken a few minutes.
The place is very quiet so not a party spot at all, and sound carries a lot so if there are two campsites being rented at your time of visit you may want to check in about who else is renting and if they are a party group or quieter. Laughter from the kitchen camp area definitely carries well to the pond area.
We had a lovely fire by the pond one night, I recommend bringing a small gas propane fire ($100 from Lowes) so you don't have to bother with smoke or fire risk in the summer.

Quiet and private spot in the woods
This was a nice, remote and quiet spot in the woods, close to the ferry terminal and with a nice picnic table, fire ring, outhouse and pond. I was visited by deer and heard coyotes howling at night.

Gorgeous, wild and private campsite with sweet pond and row boat access, beach access. Lots of wildness and a proper outhouse. Thank you Sequoia!

Bad experience with site & host :(
The farm was lovely, and under other circumstances I could see this being a great trip, especially for families. Our experience was not that. When we arrived we learned that the host had no idea her site was live on Hipcamp and was surprised and disappointed when we showed up, did not have accurate contact information (when we asked if she received our calls or messages confirming our stay and site location she said phone and email were both not working/monitored) and having bad site conditions (we got deeply stuck in the mud and spent 8 hours building a “road” with sticks and large stones to get out).
The owner did help by trying to pull us out with a tractor but eventually suggested we abandon our van at her farm and come back in a few weeks to get it. We left after one night (had booked for two) after a friend towed us out so that we could get home and clean up.
We get that mistakes happen, and all the things that went wrong make this a truly funny comedy of errors. We would have still recommended this site, but when we asked for a refund, the host blamed our experience on us, saying to Hipcamp that we should have called to get directions despite acknowledging to us that she didn’t answer the listed phone because it didn’t work. The ironic part is that we called several times from different parts of the property to get directions even though the check in instructions said to navigate by gps because we wanted go be extra certain of our location and respectful of the property.
The fact that the host did not take responsibility for maintaining her listing or contact information, and blames campers for her mistakes, makes us wary for future campers. We hope this improves!

Lovely spot to camp and very peaceful. Tons of room at the pond site to spread out. As an added bonus, it's also super close to the general store and the ferry.

Beautiful site and a great upgrade over being packed in at a state park site. Burn ban was in effect but that actually increased our privacy as the other site had no impetus to join us for the fire pit ;)

Lovely birthday weekend on the farm
We had an absolutely wonderful time camping at the farm. We had the spot in the woods and it was so lovely and private. The site is quite large and it fit our big (16 ft x 10 ft) tent with ease along with all our tables, gear, etc. We had a little deer friend that came up to the site to eat the pears that were dropping from a nearby pear tree. (If you get scared of noises in the woods like me, don’t worry, it’s just falling pears!) The site by the pond is fabulous as well. We didn’t have neighbors for our second night so we went and checked out the other site. We would stay at either one if (when) we come back. The outhouse was not bad at all and felt very private being a short walk away from both campsites. The woods site is very private which was wonderful for these 2020 times. The host Sequoia was very kind and popped by to say hi in the morning we were leaving. We were grateful to her for letting us take our time heading out. We rowed in the little row boat on the pond and it was quite idyllic. We really can’t say enough good about the site. The island is lovely as well. We spent some time driving around and had a delicious take out Reuben sandwich from the Guemes Island General Store right off the ferry dock. The ferry was super easy to catch and the campsite was about 2 minutes from the dock which was nice. We had a very lovely time and will be back for sure.

Great for our young family
Camped here with my husband and young toddler. The site exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the rowboat and fire ring, and the pit toilet is well-maintained. Appreciated being walking distance to the ferry/general store/beach. Loved hearing farm sounds from sheep and chickens. Will return!

Picturesque farm stay
It was an idyllic setting. Glad we booked both sites so that we could enjoy the peacefulness of it all. The starry sky was such a rare treat, and we loved hearing the sheep talking to each other in the morning.

Great site with added perks!
I would highly recommend staying here! The campsite was spacious and secluded. We only saw the campers staying at the forest site once in three days. The outhouse was in good shape. We really loved rowing around the small pond and petting the sheep when they wandered to our side of the fence line. There is a nice big fire pit and $5 firewood ready to go at the site. This site is lovely and a good value.

Just OK
Pros: Site was very nice and private. Firewood was provided for small fee Nighttime was very quiet. Composting toilet outhouse was actually not bad.
Cons: Bring bikes or kayaks. There are no hiking trails. Constant airplane traffic overhead during the day. The brush clearing operation across the road was very loud and constant from 9 -5pm. The neighbor at the end of the lane called us "f**ing tourists" for disturbing his three off-leash dogs, despite himself having two boats and RV in his driveway.
So overall a one time bad experience which is not the host's fault. Will visit again, maybe.

Charming location
This site was charming and enjoyable. Perfect for our family of five with two tents and close enough to all the lovely hiking, biking, and beaches Guemes has to offer. The pond was fun to row around on and there's even a hidden treasure on the tiny island. We thought that the pond would mean nighttime bugs but we were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the space was any time of day. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and have already recommended the spot to our family and friends.

Delightful!
What a charming place! This was our first trip to Guemes and it was such a lovely spot to stay. The farm is so charming and in a great location-- easy walk or bike ride to the shore or the general store. Loved that there was an outhouse to use! We had the woods site and it wasn't big enough for more than 1 tent, but Sequoia helpfully suggested some alternatives, which worked great. My kids loved the friendly sheep and the pond-- both boating and swimming.
