Tipi Camping: Warmth & Solitude

I'm not really a 'camper'. I've never felt like one. Since meeting my (now-)wife, I’ve been initiated into it, but I’ve still never felt like a camper, more like a foreigner with a good grasp of the language, but an undeniable accent. I booked this campsite as a birthday gift for my (now-)wife. It looked like it had enough wilderness to feel smugly disconnected from modernity, yet sufficiently domesticated to prevent actual discomfort from interrupting my bourgeois camping fantasy. We arrived post-sunset despite planning otherwise. Belinda's hand-drawn map proved cryptic in darkness. The instruction "turn left at the boulder at the gully"made me later realise I didn't actually know what a gully was. This revelation came the next morning, too late. The weather was warm enough to render the indoor fire unnecessary. There was something deflating about unused amenities—as if the careful research that led to selecting this specific site (with its documented fire feature) had been somehow invalidated. We swam at nearby Falls. We met an old couple at the car park. They couldn’t make it down to the water because of their mobility, and were up for a chat. We left after they brought-up “Dan’s lockdown”, which felt a bit like a non-sequetor, tbh. A nice walk and swin ensued. Our meals, cooked on the indoor stove, retroactively justified the labour of transporting provisions (including wine) to our tent. After we left, Belinda asked if I wouldn’t mind leaving a review which I do not

Wombat Valley Views Campsite

We had an awesome stay at wombat gully! The campsite was secluded with a lovely view, and Belinda was very helpful In replying to questions! Would definitely recommend if you’re after an isolated feel, and a bit of adventure:)
