Stable Hill Farm is reopening to campers after three years of establishing our working cattle farm. Set high on a hill above Glenmaggie, the property offers wide open countryside, peaceful rural views and a beautiful outlook towards Lake Glenmaggie. Across 100 acres of rolling farmland, you’ll see Angus and Hereford cattle grazing, with views south towards the lake and north towards the Great Dividing Range. Pitch a swag, tent, camper trailer or campervan and settle in for a simple, self-contained country stay on a real working farm. Lake Glenmaggie is only a 9-minute drive away, with easy access for water sports, walking, sightseeing and picnics. Licola and the Victorian High Country are also within reach to the north for those wanting to explore further. Stable Hill Farm is peaceful and rural, but you are not isolated from the essentials. Heyfield is close by and has a public RV Park with toilets and a gold coin shower. For supplies, Heyfield has an IGA and the famous Timberline General Store, which stocks general goods, takeaway food, fuel and camping gear. For meals out, the Railway Hotel in Heyfield is a good option for classic country pub meals, while the Tinamba Hotel is a well-known regional dining destination. We also recommend a visit to Blue Pool near Briagolong, especially if you are exploring beyond Lake Glenmaggie. Guests travelling with horses are welcome to enquire before booking so we can discuss suitability, access and paddock availability. Please note that there are no facilities on the property itself. Campers must be fully self-contained, including their own toilet, and must take everything with them when they leave. Please bring your own firewood and keep all fires contained to the fire pits provided. As this is an active farm with livestock, gates must be left exactly as you find them and children must be supervised at all times. The property also has uneven ground, steep gradients and small cliff areas, particularly near the lower creek.

Lake Views is a peaceful hilltop campsite at Stable Hill Farm, set on the next plateau down from our highest site, Rooftop. From this elevated position, you have beautiful views across the rolling countryside towards Lake Glenmaggie to the south, with the Great Dividing Range visible to the north. It is a slightly lower and more tucked-away site than Rooftop, while still offering a genuine hilltop farm camping experience. This site is suitable for a self-contained swag, tent, camper trailer or campervan setup. Guests will have plenty of space around them, but please note that our second campsite, Rooftop, is located approximately 200 metres away on the highest hill above. Depending on where each group sets up, another camp may be visible in the distance. Lake Glenmaggie is only a 9-minute drive away for water sports, walking, sightseeing and picnics, while Licola and the Victorian High Country are within reach to the north. Stable Hill Farm is a working farm with Angus and Hereford cattle, and guests are welcome to explore the property on foot where access is safe and permitted. Please leave gates exactly as you find them and respect all livestock, fencing and farm areas. Guests travelling with horses are welcome to enquire before booking so we can discuss suitability, access and paddock availability. Rooftop is our highest camping site at Stable Hill Farm, set on the top hill of our 100-acre working cattle property. From this elevated position, you have wide, uninterrupted views towards Lake Glenmaggie to the south and the Great Dividing Range to the north. It is the most exposed and elevated site on the farm, with a genuine “top of the hill” feel and plenty of space to slow down, look out, and enjoy the countryside. Such a beautiful spot with 360 degree views we saw beautiful sunrises and sunsets and the cows were so placid they sat around our fire highly recommend such a beautiful spot

Thank you Matt and Justine, we had a wonderful, quiet and relaxing stay surrounded by stunning views all around and down to the lake from the grassed ‘paddock’. Our front seat view of the thunder and lightning storm the one evening was just a bonus.

From booking Matt & Justine’s land to check out, everything went so smoothly . Matt was so easy to communicate, understanding and even offered us flexible check in and out as we were running late. Land was clean, views were magnificent. Don’t miss out on Sunrise when you camp here 😀 Will definitely recommend this place.

Private campsite on a farm. Easy to find. BYO everything you need to be self sufficient. We didn't meet the hosts but they had amazing communication. We moved campsites based on the weather, so we did not get to go down to the lake. Pet friendly, NIL farm animals around so it is safe for off lead. The grass was a little long, this could be a snake hazard in summer time, would be good to get some cows in the paddock to graze in between guests. We were so happy with our stay. The hosts were very clear about cars in the paddock and despite their communications some of our guests drove their lowered 2WD down into the gully, off the track and next thing you know tow truck has been ordered........ So listen to the owners !

Glenmaggie Rooftop
Camping at Glenmaggie Rooftop was qmazing! The 360° views of the countryside, lake and mountains were stunning. The stars were incredible at night, so if you have a telescope, definitely bring it along. Driving and hiking around the 100 acres was also a lot of fun (please note - 4wd access for some of the tracks as it can get quite steep coming back up to the campsites). Matt and Justine were very accommodating. They allowed us to check out late and move around the property freely as we were the only group there. Overall, a very pleasant experience and a great way to enter into 2022. The photos don't do it justice!

The perfect spot!
Glenmaggie Rooftop
We had a fantastic time and Stable Hill Farm and thank Matt and Justine for being exceptional hosts. Photographs cannot do justice of just how beautiful the space and surrounds are. We had seclusion and privacy to enjoy peace and fresh air - we were fortunate to have clear nights and the nights sky and number of stars visible was something we have never seen before (city folk!). The space was safe for our giant breed dogs and Matt and Justine ensured the grounds were ready for us to enjoy - even providing clear fire pits and clear access to the site. We can't wait to be back and plan to do so as soon and as often as we can. We left feeling revitalised, destressed and refreshed. Thank you Matt and Justine!

The perfect spot!

We had an fantastic time at Stable Hill Farm - grounds were private, quiet, breath taking and we left feeling refreshed and revitalised. Our Hosts, Matt and Justine were very responsive and easy to communicate with - we greatly appreciated the effort they took in preparing the space prior to our arrival to allow easy access and cleared area for us to stay. Photo's don't do justice but the entire farm is stunning and we really had a fabulous trip. We took along our three giant breed dogs and there was ample space to keep them entertained and space for them to enjoy a safe explore around our campsite. We can't wait to be back and plan to do so as often as we can. Camp site was close to local amenities (short drive to Glenmaggie lake and Heyfield was easily accessible).

Lake Views Glenmaggie
Thoroughly enjoyed staying at Matt and Justine’s property. Exceptional 360* views of mountains, rolling hills and lake Glenmaggie. The property is easily accessible and only a stones throw drive off the main road even though it felt isolated. The stargazing was exceptional not to mention the sunset and sunrise.
