We absolutely adored our stay at Paul’s miners cabin, would have happily stayed there indefinitely. It’s very charming and cute, we spend all weekend by the fire outside enjoying the bird sound and the stars, or inside in front of the fire with a wine. Would absolutely stay again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful peice of land very peaceful alot of wildlife to hear and see in the day and at night.
You are close to Castlemaine and a Reservoir which is so good on a hot day to swim or kayak in.
The miners hut itself has alot of history and is well kept we were surprised how cool it was despite hot temps. It would be very cosy in the winter I'm sure.
Bathroom is clean and every detail considered
You do share the bathroom with other campers guests in the Glamping tent, at the time these guest were very quiet so all good.
Communication with Paul was excellent we enjoyed meeting his friendly black lab.

Cabin was fantastic. A real time capsule and it was so good to be able to stay there. There was lots of wildlife all around and it was very peaceful.

We had a really nice couple of days away. The cabin is incredibly well set up with gas lighting, solar lighting, and skylights. It has a sink with hot and cold water, and USB power to keep your 'essentials' charged. The barrel heater keeps you nice and warm. I brought a few extra items from home to assist with cooking, but the kitchen setup, as is, will easily handle most meals.
The shared bathroom is nicely set up. It’s worth noting that the bathroom is attached to the cabin and shares a wall, so you can hear when other guests from the glamping tents come and go.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would happily return.

Rustic Miners Cabin
A great location from which to explore Castlemaine and surrounds. Across the main road is an interesting and expansive forested area with a 5 k walking track that leads to the reservoir. Saw abundant Roos, wallabies and an old riverbed. Kids loved exploring there and so did the dog. The cabin itself is as expected- well set up, homely and super cozy once you get the drum-fire going. Paul & Fran didnt impose themselves at all- but were there if needed.

We brought our kayaks and found the cottage to be in a great location to access some very pretty spots. The house is very comfy and a short hop to Castlemaine. We had fun exploring the diggings and trails. If you are staying a few days I would recommend bringing a few essentials to cook with. We brought a cast iron pan, bbq implements, oils, sponge, extra loo roll, torch, lantern and condiments which were very handy as the kitchen is cute but small. There is a grill for the outdoor fire so you can sit and cook there too. If the skies are clear I would also recommend bringing binoculars or telescope. We had brilliant dark skies.

Paul's cottage is wonderfully rustic. You really do feel "off grid", but it has everything you need. Highly recommend for a trip away!

We had a wonderful stay at Paul's cabin, it was so well equipped with everything we needed and so cosy and comfortable. We loved the open fire and it was so good to bring our dog who had such a great time. A really beatiful cabin highly recommend, the glamping tent down the road looks great too 👌

We love staying at Paul’s place, being a private property gives you an extra sense of security and privacy.
The cabin had all we needed for our short stay, it’s a nice location close to a place where to swim.

We had a lovely weekend away at Paul's Rustic Cabin. It was perfect for our short getaway. Paul was a great host, and gave us info on the local eateries. There is a glamping tent on site, but we were far enough apart to not bother each other. We will be sure to tell others how wonderful it is to stay there. Thank you Paul!

Paul lives on a little bit of heaven and has sliced off a little bit for us. The Miner's cottage is rustic but charming and the fire was warm and cozy. We had one couple in the cabin and another in a camper trailer out front. Once the weather gets warmer this site will just get even better. There's a tent set up for glamping just up the track and that looks great too. Well worth it and will return when it's a bit warmer.

Loved the authentic feel of going back in time along with some minor creature comforts that made it that extra easy to feel more comfortable! Place was well kept considering the style of cabin but the hot water and working toilet / shower that was exceptionally clean was a great addition. Gas lights worked a treat and gave a nice vibe at night along with the fireplace. Working LED lights in and around the cabin when needed and the sensor light near the toilet area because it was outside of the house as it shares with the glamping site was a nice little treat. Paul and his wife were very accommodating even went out of her way to make sure we had enough provisions before she turned in for the night. Thank you for the great stay and hope to visit again! PS. 15 minutes drive to Kyneton for the Cobbs bakery pies is a must!!

Great little cabin! Spotless, quiet, lots of kangaroos and yet close to castlemaine. Bring lots of warm clothes and blankets in winter. Barrel fire is nice to warm the space though.

Beautiful little cabin. Very cozy and rustic but with all the comforts you might want. Simple cooking/eating utensils available. Board games to keep you entertained when it’s rainy.

I loved the cabin. Its quiet and fits the rustic perfectly. Amazing stay and Paul the owner is friendly and there if you need anything.
Be sure to pack your own bedding and no cold foods. Be mindful the inside fore place will smoke out the cabin. Will be going back with my partner.. what an amazing place.

The cabin was exactly as described. My two children (5 and 8) and I loved it!
The fire heater kept the cabin toasty. There was plenty of warm water for washing dishes and showering. There were basic kitchen supplies (kettle, pot, chopping board, sharp knives etc as well as crockery and cutlery). The mattress protectors and tea towels and bathroom towels were immaculate.
We loved expedition pass a few minutes down the road. We saw lots of kangaroos on the property. It was a short drive (a few minutes) to chetwon and under 15 mins to castlemaine.
Paul came and introduced himself and was very friendly, but we felt completely secluded, even though the cottage is at the bottom of the property with his house on it.
Definitely recommend!

Absolutely wonderful weekend away. Gorgeous cabin, lots of character, hot shower, composting toilet (vented well - not smelly), fireplaces warm it up beautifully. Wet, cold and rainy weekend, spent in a warm, cosy cabin, in a beautiful location. Little kitchen, with basics so we could cook and eat there. Eski provided (BYO ice).
Definately will be back - absolutely what the soul needs is more places like this to reset, relax, enjoy the time away from technology.
