Nestled on a serene inland island framed by the Loddon River and 12 Mile Creek, our property: Riverside is a hidden gem offering a unique camping experience. Surrounded by majestic River Red Gums, tranquil billabongs, and the cheerful chatter of the resident Grey Babbler birds, this secluded slice of paradise invites you to unwind and reconnect with nature. Our working sheep farm provides a peaceful and authentic country backdrop, and with just two campsites on the property. One on the Loddon River and the second on the 12 Mile Creek. You'll enjoy exclusive access to your very own natural retreat. Whether you’re exploring the winding riverbanks or simply soaking up the tranquility, the beauty and freedom of our sites are unmatched. What We Offer: Two separate sites at different location A self-contained campsite with water access for your privacy and relaxation. Walking is possible along the banks of both river and creek, offering a great opportunity to explore the beauty of the area at your own pace. Both the creek and river, while narrower in this area, wind their way through the landscape, offering a charming and peaceful setting. Designated campfire spots with firewood provided (fire restrictions apply from November to March—please check with us). Pet-friendly policy—bring your furry friends along, just keep them controlled and clean up after them. What You’ll Need to Bring: This is a back-to-basics experience. You'll need to be fully self-sufficient, with your own camping toilet and waste disposal system. We follow a strict Leave No Trace policy to preserve the pristine natural environment for everyone to enjoy. Local Attractions: The charming town of Boort, just 20 minutes away, boasts a well-stocked IGA, an award-winning butcher, two cozy cafes, and water sports on Lake Boort. Kerang, only 30 minutes north, is your gateway to the stunning Kerang Lakes and wetlands. Pyramid Hill. Climb the hill or enjoy Parkrun on Saturday Whether you’re here to unwind, explore, or simply bask in the serenity of this riverside haven, Riverside promises an unforgettable camping experience where nature’s beauty takes center stage. Welcome to our 1st camping site on the 12 Mile Creek - Secret spot No. 2 The 12 Mile Creek frames the outer border of our farm and is actually wider and a greater flow than our treasured Loddon River. Secret Spot No. 2 is very similar to Babbler's Haven - offering a unique camping experience. Surrounded by River Red Gums, running water, and the cheerful wake-up call of Kookaburras and Cockatoos this secluded slice of paradise invites you to unwind and reconnect with nature. Our working sheep farm provides a peaceful and authentic country backdrop, and with just one campsite on the 12 Mile Creek, you'll enjoy exclusive access to your very own natural retreat. Whether you’re exploring the winding banks of the creek or simply soaking up the tranquility, the beauty and freedom of this secret site offers you the authentic camping experience What We Offer: A self-contained campsite with creek access for your ultimate privacy and relaxation. The 12 mile creek meanders for around 2kms on our farm so there is plenty opportunity to walk and explore the area. Feel free to throw in a fishing line or to swim. Both Murray Cod and Yellow Belly have been caught. Catching carp is always welcomed - please dispose Designated campfire spots with firewood provided (fire restrictions apply from November to March—please check with us). Canary Island has become my absolute favourite place to camp now, having stayed at both sites (Secret Spot #2 as well). Both are absolutely beautiful spots. Bablers Haven has nice open grassy areas, yet very private and secluded, tucked in amongst the gum trees, and right on the river. It was a perfect spot for the kids, plenty of grassy space to run around and things to explore. It would also suit a larger group really well - several fire pits, multiple separate clearings right along the river, so you would each have a bit of space to yourselves. It is dead quiet day and night - besides the sounds of nature, and the kookaburras constantly laughing at my fishing skills. The provided firewood was a life saver as well! The directions to the sites are very easy to follow, and Jo is always quick to reply. Thank you for having us Jo!

Secret Spot No 2 on the 12 Mile
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by a magnificent, towering tree that immediately made the campsite feel special. The site was incredibly peaceful, with a beautiful creek nearby that added to the relaxing atmosphere. Surrounded by nature, it was the perfect place to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet and scenic getaway

Our first stay at Babblers Haven and we were absolutely delighted with this Hipcamp. Jo’s directions were spot on, the fresh eggs left at the gate a personal touch (these things count), the peace and quiet of the site and just us was a wonderful way to spend the long weekend. We utilised the firewood Jo left for us and basically relaxed and made the most of the ambiance. Would definitely recommend this site for anyone else that likes to be by themselves - I’m sure we will return.

Secret Spot No 2 on the 12 Mile
A stunning, private spot right on the creek. Lots of cleared space for kids to run and awesome trees to climb. We had a fantastic time. Jo dropped off fresh eggs too. Directions were spot on Google maps can be relied on and service at the camps site was stable. Will definitely be back again.

We spent a three-day weekend at this lovely Hipcamp. We camped amid huge ancient redgums in a very quiet and private spot right next to the Loddon River. The host Jo was great to deal with, very thoughtful, made great recommendations. Provided firewood for us and more. Boort was the main attraction for our visit, and this spot is very conveniently located, just a short drive from town.

Bablers Haven was a peaceful and secluded camp ground, perfect for relaxing. Jo,s communication was easy as the site would not be easy to find without good instructions. Beautiful part of the Lodden river to camp on, and Boort was a great place to visit and swim in the lake on a hot day.

Pleasantly quiet space isolated which is exactly what we were after.. Jo was spectacular in communication and even left fresh eggs and the juiciest apricots in an esky for us at the gate- Amazing! Would highly recommend this place- only 20 minutes from town if you need anything!

A very private location with three fire pits to choose from all on the bank of a creek that provided great fishing even if it was just for the sport of it. Greeted upon arrival with a dozen fresh eggs. A very clean environment with plenty of firewood and Jo the host being very responsive, had mobile and TV reception and a 20 min drive to Boort where we spent the day on the lake fishing and swimming. Overall a great experience and will definitely be returning for more of the serenity, thanks Jo.

Flat and large camping area. It's by the river but unfortunately not great for swimming as lots of trees and debris. Lake Boort was about 20min drive and was lovely for swimming. Great for our dogs as they could be off leash. Lots of very big spiders and moths the size of small budgies! Jo was easy to communicate with.

Absolutely loved our stay here- Jo was beyond kind, so helpful and accomodating and made us feel really welcome. Beautiful open site with lots to explore; gorgeous birds, frogs, eels and fish. Plenty of shade and loads of options of how to spread out. Fire pits were perfect for group cooking. You can feel the care that has been taken. Sweet details like the little insect hotels. What more could you want! We will definitely be back, thanks again Jo for such a special weekend.
