Water Front Campsite
Great spot, nice big dam right in front of the campsite, plenty of room to set up (provided no other campers on the property) and very welcoming hosts.
We particularly loved seeing the kangaroos and resident kookaburras.

We loved the waterfront campsite at Lalgambook Retreat! The view across the water is beautiful and we loved daydreaming out on the little jetty. The bathroom facilities make the camping feel luxurious, while still secluded in nature – the best of everything. We saw lots of wallabies and had a kookaburra spend an afternoon at our campsite with us. The sounds of frogs at night and birds in the mornings made for peaceful sleeps, far away from it all. We had planned on going for walks in the local area but the property is so big and brimming with stunning bushland that we didn't need to leave the whole weekend. The artistic metalwork around the property including seating arrangement overlooking the water and fire pit are a really nice touch. David and Karen are kind and welcoming hosts. We feel very lucky to have discovered this gem near Daylesford and are grateful to them for having us stay. We would love to stay again one day and even stop by Hepburn Bathhouse, just down the road, on the way in next time.

Water Front Campsite
Beautiful spot. Thank you for sharing it with us. We had a wonderful relaxing couple of days and kids loved exploring and tossing rocks into the lake. It was a bit cold and windy to take the canoe out. Next time for sure.

We recently stayed in Vanessa the Vintage Van at the beautiful Lalgambook Retreat over a long weekend, and while it turned out to be the wettest weekend imaginable, we had a truly memorable experience.
Perched on a picturesque property overlooking a serene dam, the van itself is absolutely charming—originally styled, incredibly comfortable, and had everything you could possibly need for a cozy stay. Despite the unexpected cold snap, our experience was warm and welcoming thanks to the wonderful hosts, who went above and beyond by providing extra blankets and a heater to keep us comfortable.
Although the rain kept us indoors for most of the time - when we weren’t navigating Daylesford - we genuinely enjoyed the peaceful, snug atmosphere and left already planning our return. Next time, we’re looking forward to making the most of the property, hosting a fire pit, taking nature walks, and spotting the local wildlife.
Vanessa is a little gem in a truly special setting. Highly recommend for anyone after a unique, restful retreat—rain or shine!

The hosts were nice and kind. Karen gave us a detailed direction in going to their place. They welcomed us warmly when we arrived. David even approached us offering a temporary site to shed under while it was raining the night we pitched our tent. We were so thankful and lucky. The kids enjoyed kayaking in the waters. My
daughter was so happy to meet their pet Clover( the cat) and Eevy? (Pardon for the name of their dog not so sure). Definitely we'll come back and we'll surely spread the news about this wonderful place to friends and everyone. Lots of thanks Karen & David!

We had a lovely and peaceful stay at Lalgambook Retreat! We stayed at the waterfront site and truly enjoyed the serenity — it was quiet, relaxing, and surrounded by nature. The kids and my husband had a blast canoeing and even had fun racing each other across the waterhole. It was such a treat to see kangaroos hopping by and to spot all the beautiful birds around the area.
The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the amenities were spotless — very clean and well looked after. The only thing to note is that access to the property can be a little tricky (note: we were towing a 21ft caravan) and having a 4WD helped. The owners were upfront and helpful about this.
Overall, a wonderful escape into nature with great hospitality.

What a gorgeous spot hosted by the kindest family. Karen gave clear instructions to find the place and was most gracious offering water access and electricity.
The bathroom facilities were clean and well kept. We came up in a 2 wheel drive and although the road in was a little rough had no trouble getting through.
We had a wonderful time canoeing in the dam.
A short drive to the family's metal art gallery in Blampied (Overwrought Garden Art) was also well worth the visit!
