About 9 acres of native forest, bounded on 3 sides to thousands of acres of Enfield & Ross Creek State Forests. Kangaroos, possums and many native birds live in and around my property. Wake up to bird sounds: Kookaburra's early morning call. Green & Red Rosellas and clever Magpies come to feed. Spotted pardelotes and robins flit around bushes and trees. Occasional gangs of black Gang Gang Cockatoos pick at cones on the tallest trees. Kids can collect kindling or pinecones or use the playground on the property; swing, slide, seesaw... Plenty of historic walks from 1850’s goldrush times. Follow the water “races” down toward the mines. Good bike riding. Star gazing. Historic village of Smythesdale ten minutes away. Beautiful Ballarat 15 minutes to north east. In the bush you can feel away from civilisation… it was my retreat to nature during Covid era! Heals Nature Deficit Disorder! Some say it feels like a McCubbin painting of pioneers… Be nurtured by Nature! 4 campsites: Kookaburra Camp: ($77 per night per couple) Walk 50 metres on clearly marked track from parking area near main Kabin. Already set-up Bell tent, double mattress plus space for 1-2 singles. Bedding available on request. Chairs/ hammocks available. Solar lights. Short walk to fire pit. Wood plentiful. Sauna nearby & available as Extra. Kookaburra call "alarm" at 6.45-7.15am. Rosella Camp: ($44 per night) Easy access + flat site for self-contained Caravan or RV ( up to 10 metres) with access to circular drive exit. Use of communal fire pit included. Magpie Camp: ($77 per night) Existing modern Tent, double mattress plus space for 1-2 singles. Bedding available on request. Pre-dug fire pit. Solar lights. Wood fired Sauna (as Extra) adjacent. Cockatoo Camp: ($44 per night) Flat and accessible site for self-contained RV up to 8 metres, adjacent to 65kms State Forest, pre-dug fire pit, solar lights. Composting toilet is available for tent sites guests,, at varying distance from tent sites. This is a digital detox zone. No reliable wifi or mobile reception. Landline for emergencies at main Cabin. Families of wild (not tame!) kangaroos & native birds live near or on my nature retreat- they have priority and are spooked by loud noise or dogs. Sauna available as Extra.Easy access RV or caravan site close to front gate of property. Can drive Caravan forward - through to circular driveway - for easy exit. Grassy flat site with native trees.

Rosella Caravan Camp

Susanna had several campsites on her land, each with a distinct appeal. We chose the Cockatoo camp, which is close to the dense forest, has a fire pit and a large enough space for an RV or tent. Susanna was especially friendly and lovely in assisting with any requests we had. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to camp near Ballarat or Smythesdale.
