Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
A picturesque 165 acre rural property/hobby farm located 15 minutes from Bairnsdale in magical East Gippsland. We have a great mix of grassed fields, wooded fields, a large stocked dam and 80 acres of nature reserve full of trees and animals. The property has a large array of bird and wildlife perfect for bird and wildlife spotting. Some of our regular animals and birds are Kangaroos, Echidna's, Wombats, Ducks, Kookaburras, Cockatoos and heaps more. The camp site consists of a large flat grassed area next to our dam. There are huge red gums hundreds of years old for some shade. The camp is private and yours only, however there is room for roughly three camps/caravans if you wish to bring your friends. There is firewood available on site and can be collected. We have a stocked dam to camp next to which has yabbies, tortoise and australian bass. You're welcome to put a trap or line in, just save some for other people. The dam is swimmable so bring your pool toys. The the dam is fed from a solar powered bore so the water is always high. We are pet friendly - dogs can be bought along and even kept off leash if they are well behaved. There are fields and tracks suitable for horse riding so you can bring your horses. We are a small functioning farm with Cows and Calves regularly in some of our fields.Very basic campsite - You must bring your own water, power, and toilet. The camp is a 3 minute walk from the main house but secluded in behind a forest of gums and stringy bark. You can choose where you want to set up and there is plenty of room. This is the perfect spot for someone who is fully self sufficient who wants their own space - or a group of people who don't want to be squished into a caravan park. Well-behaved pets welcome. You will get a 30 acres to yourself where you can have your animals off leash and walk the beautiful fields. Fire wood can be collected on the farm, you just need to ask where from. Our farm is located minutes from bairnsdale, 45 minutes from lakes entrance and 1 hour from the alpine region. We have several boat ramps within 15 minutes to access the Gippsland lakes for those who are keen on water sports. Gippsland is a huge tourist area and there is so much to do around here.

Awesome spot a short drive from Bairnsdale and Paynesville. So peaceful as others have noted and plenty of wildlife to observe while there. Would stay again

Peaceful and easy to access
We loved camping at Clarkey’s Dam. It was peaceful and private & super easy to access in a 2wd (in dry warm weather at least!) with a caravan. Ample room to turn around as well. Wish we could have stayed longer! Will definitely be back!

Dam Camping at its finest
We had a great weekend away at Clarkes Dam! Nice flat grassy area near the dam to setup, we had a camper and our friends had a tent, plenty of room left for others. Bonus points as this is a “1 site” HipCamp so it’s nice to have the place to yourself! Kids had a ball spending most of the time in the dam! We didn’t catch any yabbies this time but we did catch a turtle that the kids named Shelly and we released safely back into the dam! Flies were a bit bad and we got a bit of wind but that’s no fault of the property at all! We will be going back for sure! Thanks Julian!

Beautiful spot with privacy
Really awesome spot with loads of privacy, owners popped down to greet us and are super lovely! We loved having the whole spot to ourselves with our dog! It was nice not needing to worry about having him on the lead as the spot is quite far from the owners property and being able to rent the spot for just us! Beautiful trees provide shade by the dam and quite large property to go for a little walk! Very active kookaburras as well to listen to was beautiful. Fire pit and firewood was ready to go which made it so easy for us! We will definitely come back with friends next time as there is so much grass space by the damn for more campers.
