Burrunan Retreat is 3 acres located in a quiet bush setting on Raymond Island, on the shore of beautiful Lake King. Enjoy Dolphin, Koala, Kangaroo and Bird watching, along with wildflowers, fishing and suitable for many water activities. Perfect for swimming, bike riding, walking and exploring. Photographers will love this environment! Enjoy gathering around the firepit or BBQ area. We love to share our environment with others who love peace and tranquility. Raymond Island offers this in abundance. Nature truly surrounds you and this is why pets must be on leash at all times. Campfires allowed
Firepit. The fire pit cannot be used during fire ban periods. Please check the rating before use. Bring your own or gather your own wood from permitted areas, not from property as this is for host use only. IGA Paynesville and the service station both sell bags of wood.
Toilet available
Flush toilet. The toilet has a macerator unit attached which means that no other material apart from human waste and toilet paper waste can go down into the system. A Plumber callout fee to fix it will be charged to the guest if it is blocked.

Potable water available
There is a filter for guest use and can be refilled with supplied rainwater. The bore water is safe to drink, safe to use however has a high mineral content and takes some getting used to.

Cooking equipment present
Grill over firepit, bbq, private, stovetop or hot plate, fridge, freezer, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. Use the extraction fan when cooking inside.

Located inside the Bungalow to be erected when required.

The laundry area is located in two places. It depends on other guests on site as to which one you can use. Check with host.

Peaceful!

Beautiful place! We loved camping in the field under the trees and found the facilities provided clean and adequate. This is a new site and you can see there is lots of work going into it. Hope to return again!

Compared to our other Hipcamp stays, the price was much to high for the stay. WiFi didn’t work well, bathroom was dirty and could not be locked allowing anyone to walk in, people at the properties AirBnB and neighbours were very loud and ruined the peacefulness of the location. The location however was beautiful, the lake lovely and many animals frequented the camping site.

Wildlife paradise!
3 m pop-up camper
Perfect spot for feeling like you’re in the bush and surrounded by wildlife! We couldn’t believe the experience we got of the koalas being in trees just above our tent and walking around our campsite. We were visited by kangaroos and kookaburras daily too! When we were there the mosquitoes and bull ants were everywhere but both could be managed. Great amenities to give you some home comforts too. Very quiet at night and felt like a nice private place to camp.

Mozzies and unempathetic host

Would not recommend. Unfortunately we had to shorten our trip due to the immense (!) amount of mozzies at the camp site, constantly and everywhere no matter the nets and spray - making the stay not enjoyable at all. When discussing with the host - the basic response was in line with: ‘what do you expect’ and ‘that’s not my responsibility’.
