When the season opens, the river comes alive—perfect conditions for casting a line and landing quality trout and perch * ❄️ Winter hunting season: Crisp mountain air, quiet bushland, and prime conditions for high country hunting adventures ☀️ Summer is magic here—cool off in the river, swim in clear mountain water, and unwind under long, golden evenings by the campfire. Good to know: * 🚙 4WD dry weather access to river – part of the adventure! Horse camps and RV site all weather conditions. * 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Kids stay free – bring the whole familyFish the Mitta Mitta, camp under the stars on the river bank, or stay at Buck Hunter’s Hut. 4WD access, unforgettable mountain views as you descend down the track. One part of it is steep yet the rest is easy. You only drive on it when it’s dry and the track gets slippery when wet and you must wait a while till the sun shines. When the Dartmouth Dam is full, launch your boat and when it’s not swim or canoe in clear mountain water, and unwind under star filled evenings by the campfire. Walk the great alpine walking trail or go for a ride along the tracks. There is a fully equiped kitchen, shower and long drop. The hut has a wood heater and basic solar. (Wood can be purchased onsite) A double bed and two bunks to throw your swags on. There is heaps of space for camping on the river if you have large groups.
