Cute, private creek-side campsite
My husband and I (and our campervan) enjoyed the well designed space (bamboo grove, creek access, super nice bath house, meadow and picnic table) as a weekend base to explore Balcones Canyonlands Nat’l Wilderness Refuge and Flat Creek Estate Winery.

Don’t miss this spot!!!
The minute you set foot on this property you can see all the hard work Steve and Virginia put into it. The upkeep is immaculate. It’s not just a random pasture they’re renting out to make a few bucks- this spot was designed to welcome guests down to every detail. It’s fully fenced in and gated so I felt very safe, which means a lot to me as a veteran and woman. There is only one campsite, it’s just you. The bathhouse is BEAUTIFULLY designed and well built, and I was very pleasantly surprised by a regular flushing toilet, extra large sink, big mirror and shower. I did a full face of makeup for no reason just bc I wanted to spend time in the bathhouse. 😂 The shower is cold but I set up my Mr. Buddy heater inside and it was nice. There’s a little pathway with steps down to a gorgeous clear limestone creek, and Virginia showed me some spots to hang a hammock. She stopped by in the morning to check on me and we had a wonderful conversation about the monarch butterflies and then went on our way- perfect amount of hospitality and not overbearing at all. I loved that she was genuinely happy I was there. Zero cell service which I found really nice, since I tend to get sucked into my phone. My only regret is I couldn’t spend much time at the site bc I had a ton of online homework due so I needed wifi. But even just sleeping here was wonderful for my mental health. I can’t wait to come back!

Private creek and a bathroom!
This place is great for a first family camping. I knew the creek was dry when I booked for my solo moto camping and I can imagine how much more fun would it be with water. You basically have your own private creek. There is an outdoor bathroom with a sink, a toilet and a shower - great if you don't really enjoy totally primitive camping. I will definitely come back with my family when the creek comes back!

Hidden magic in Hill country!
This was hands down one of the nicest camp spots we've ever visited! Virginia was waiting to welcome us as we pulled up, and she brought us to our secluded little spot down the bluebonnet trail. What a treat! Well maintained, clean commode, and what Virginia calls "barefootable".
My shoes came off as soon as camp was set up, and stayed off the entire stay.
Everywhere you go, the property is magical. The private creek was sparkling, the bamboo forest was winding, and the birds were always singing. There is tons of plant diversity, and delicious wild onions all over. If you come during wildflower season, this is a darling place for your annual bluebonnet photos! Bring chairs to sit in the spring-fed creek while the little ones splash in the water and count dragonflies. There's even a swing that was perfect for (5'2") me. I felt like a little kid again, tucked up with my book, swinging, and listening to the babbling creek. After our dip in the creek, we were able to take refreshing showers!
The site is off of a country road, but felt very secluded and quiet. We lost service about 10 minutes from the site, but if you forget any provisions, the convenience store is less than 15 minutes away. We were under a burn ban, so we couldn't use the (incredibly clean and maintained!) fire pit, but we had plenty of space to set up our stove and cast iron to cook a healthy meal. We can only imagine how magical the stay would've been with a fire!

Virginia was very attentive and nice. She welcomed us and gave us a tour of the property. The creek behind the camping ground was beautiful and the bathroom was a nice plus. We had a beautiful time.

Perfect little spot, very well-maintained, clean, and peaceful. Steps from a clear water creek. Nice outdoor bathroom, sparkling clean, thoughtful touches. Feels very remote but in reality you're only about 10 min or less from 183 in Leander. Only downsides were a dog next door that barked a fair amount (warned about this in location description) and surprisingly there was some considerable air traffic noise late into the night. Hosts provide a baggie full of fresh ear plugs if needed. These were minor issues for me but light sleepers beware.

Great little campsite! The land is well kempt, and the bathroom with running water is nice to have. I stayed here with my 8-year-old, and we had a wonderful time exploring trails, cooking over a campfire, and sleeping in our tent.

Nice campsite!
I spent 4 nights at this nice campsite. The small creek, flush tower, cold-water shower, picnic table, short trails through the bamboo, and fire pit are great features. Excellent hosts! Spotlessly clean and mowed.
My GPS "lied" to me because there is no cell service (ATT) in the immediate area. Make sure you know how to find the entrance without your phone working! Cell service works about 1/2 mile away from the site.
As others have noted, barking dogs in the neighborhood may be annoying to people not used to such background noise. I have yappy dogs myself, so it wasn't a big deal to me. YMMV.

Absolutely loved my stay!
Happy Acres is a gorgeous camp site! The bath house is amazing! After a day exploring different Texas sites, a nice cool shower in that bath house was pure bliss. The trails and creek provide gorgeous views and ample wildlife in the evenings. I had full cell service during my stay here (with Verizon) and the neighbor’s dog didnt park past 8 in the evening, so noise was of very little concern (and I’m a fairly light sleeper.) I plan to stay here every time I come back to the area, I couldn't have imagined a better place to set up camp!

We were looking for a place to camp for the first time with our kids and Happy Acres was perfect. We were close to home in Austin and it was not too primitive for the kids’ first time. The hosts greeted us at arrival and checked in to make sure we were ok. The kids (ages 2 & 5) had fun playing in the spring fed creek. There are a lot of nice touches such as the bath house (clean and stocked), swing, fire pit, picnic table and steps leading to the creek. It was a bit noisy but they do mention this on their profile. The kids didn’t seem to have trouble sleeping though. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you Virginia & Steve!

Super clean, great hosts!
This is a neighborhood spot, with a cool creek, bamboo forest (1/4 acre), very well maintained bathroom facilities (best I've ever seen in an outdoor space). Cool spot to introduce a kid to camping. Don't expect much quiet though (dogs, neighbor's music); take earplugs.

We had a great trip! Virginia was very kind. She was waiting for us when we pulled up. The campsite was very well kept. The table and fire pit look out to the lovely creek. The trails were very nicely maintained. The kids had a blast! The bathroom was super clean and had everything we needed. Great private campsite! We would like to go back.

the area itself was awesome, felt very comfortable there. Steve and Virginia were very nice and down to earth. the only “problem” for me was the loud neighbors. easy fix would to bring ear plugs. Other than that, It was a great weekend and I definitely want to come back sometime in the future.

This camp site is fun and large enough even for a bigger group. There’s room to explore and privacy fences where necessary. The hosts were fantastic and gave a good tour of their property and what’s accessible. While the creek bed is currently dried up, the forested area and trails made up for it. Finally, the home made shower/restroom hut is such a great relief to have during these hot summer days! We’d say the only possible down side (ymmv) was the barking dog next door and crowing rooster. I think his clock was off because he’d crow off and on beginning around 4am
