Desert Gardens Oasis Camping
Interesting spot. The home-made fixtures add a lot of character to the site. I could see this spot being really fun/social w/ a camp full of folks in the high season. I arrived on a July evening with monsoon storms dotting the nearby mountains, near and far, it was beautiful and warm. The camp sits above the desert at the base of a small mountain so you can see the whole valley. The nigh sky was vast and bright, the storms cleared and I didn't get rained on. Sort of a side show gem I happened to stumble upon while driving from Tucson to Austin. My only complaint is I didn't see a single soul when I turned off from lobo, just me and the cattle. **The spot is closer to Lobo NOT Van Horn.

Tent camped at Ted's land. It was beautiful even though we arrived after sundown. The directions were verry clear and we got to our spot without a problem. Unfortunately the rain came in early in the morning and we left so we didn't get to explore the trails. Will defenetly reserve with Ted again in the future.

Unique area, several miles out the desert. Directions are comimg from the north so from the south take the 1st numbered turn. Fortunately we were greeted by Betty who helped us thru the 2 gates where we parked on the landing strip that was flater and away from the various trailers, trucks and structures within in the gated area. Enjoyed talking with Betty, very friendly and kind. Would have been less fun with no one there to assist. Our friend said gate and lock were wrapped in barbed wire and that he cut himself on it. Very peaceful and quiet. No amenities, bring everything. A reasonable price.

Beautiful site, very friendly host
Ted was so friendly and communicative! We got a little lost (seriously just follow the directions on ted’s listing haha) and Ted answered our texts right away and got us to the right spot. When we arrived, he was there to welcome us in and gave us the rundown of the land. He was super hospitable and offered water and noodles for breakfast, but gave us our space for the whole night. The area is definitely off the beaten path but so beautiful and quiet. Incredible stars. Overall, very nice stop for us on our road trip.

Desert Gardens Oasis Camping
Great spot. Solitude in the desert at a great price. Way off the road and offering a nice hike up a canyon. Beautiful place to catch the sunrise too. There’s a big communal fire ring but I was the only guest. There’s a few ongoing projects which I don’t mind but if you’re looking for something finished and developed, better head to the KOA. Very easy to find if you trust the directions and follow the signs. Road was soft in places but easily passable with a Honda Civic as of 12/28/21. I hope to come back through some day.
