Finding us couldn't be easier , just turn right at the welcome to Franklin sign when driving from Huonville. Our gate has two big gum stumps as posts. Early arrival/ caravan drop off possible. please contact us to arrange With big views up the Huon Valley and over the river, this campsite will be sure to provide a great stay. The property is a 5 minute walk into the Historic town of Franklin, where there are are pubs and restaurants. We have 2 flat sites and 3 slight gradient sites, all are far apart. All sites accessible by 2wd depending on weather. There are no facilities, so the site is suitable for self contained campers only, There is dump for toilet water. The site also has drinking water water available free. Due to our children and our Alpaca on site pets must be kept on a leash. Visiting children are welcome to help our kids feed Alpaca, just ask. The property has an orchard of cherry plums, apples, pears, lemons and apricots. There are great walks and sites to see in the local area. It's possible to see Aurora from your campsite, but not guaranteed.

With big views up the Huon Valley and over the river, only 2 sites on a 5 acre property. Choice of camping pitch sheltered orchard or garden. We have wedge tail eagles in the bush above the property and see them daily. The property is a 5 minute walk into the Historic town of Franklin, where there are are cafes ,pubs and restaurants. We have 3 flat site and 2 slight gradient sites all are far apart. All sites accessible by car or van. WE HAVE NO TOILET FACILITIES but we do have toilet dump point so the site is suitable for self contained campers only,  Town water is on site and included. Due to our children and our Alpaca on site dogs much be kept on a leash. The property has an orchard of plums, apples, pears, lemons and apricots. There are great walks and sites to see in the local area. Franklin is a great place to base trips out further south to were the roads end. Huonville is close by and is the last real shopping option for big grocery shop . After Huonville the shops are small local stores. We do get to see Aurora if you’re up late enough.

Great spot to enjoy and explore the Huon Valley and Hartz mountains with stunning views across the Huon river and a short walk into Franklin Darren left clear and detailed instructions for arrival and welcomed us onto his property and kindly shared his local knowledge.

We loved our stay on Darren’s land. The sight was well maintained and had a lovely view of the Huon River and a short stroll into the village of Franklin. Darren was very hospitable and we would recommend it to others as a great place to stay. Thank you Darren.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay in the Orchard. It is a very protected site from the winds, still with a lovely open outlook to the Huon River. Whilst we were the only campers while we were there, the other site is well removed and you would not have privacy issues when Darren has both sites booked. We had some technical issues with our camper, and Darren could not have been more helpful, going above and beyond what we would have expected as a host. When we were doing our research, all enquiries were handled promptly. Very close to Franklin and Huonville shops, cafes and restaurants. Highly recommended.

It was a great place to camp for a few days to see the surrounding areas. The farm stay was good and had a chance to pick some of the fruit that lasted us a few days. Darren was a great host who assisted us with getting set up and onto the property. The views from our site over the river were fantastic. Very nice little town to explore as well. I highly recommend Darrens place for a stay and we would go back if in that part of the world again.

Loved the tucked ih spot at the orchard. The plums were delicious and the alpacas fun. This is a great location, right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to go. We ended up stopping back at the van to put the lovely produce we purchased in the fridge. So convienient.

Good directions however easy to drive past if traffic up ones tail looking for the address. We scored a good spot looking East to the river and valley. Really great to have potable water & dump point available ( getting water over previous few days on Bruny Island was impossible unless camped at landscape supply park ) Really nice mowed lawn ( a treat after camping on black sand ) Darren was friendly & responsive, thank you 🙌🏽

Lovely peaceful campsite with river views. We really enjoyed our time amongst the orchard. It was very Conveniently located for exploring the Huon Valley. Site was sheltered but definitely not flat. I would not attempt this site with a low clearance van or if you are not experienced leveling your set up. Once other people are camped in the spots below it could be difficult for an easy exit if you don’t have 4wd/off road caravan, or if it is wet. Darren is a great host and around when needed. Water tap and dump point easy to find and access.

What a beautiful and well presented place. Lovely views over the river. Easy access if you follow Darren’s instructions. Lovely afternoon spent feeding the alpacas, wandering through the orchard, kids were straight up the big tree! Darren offers water also. Can sometimes see Aurora from the site however sadly our night was cloudy. Even with a second camp set up on site there was plenty of of room. Thanks again for all you local info Darren.

We loved exploring the local area and taking some time to rest in the orchard at this site. Darren was such a warm and welcoming host, providing assistance and recommendations on places to visit nearby. Having access to fill up the water tanks was incredibly convenient! Very highly recommended!

The orchard was a beautiful, unique stay for us. We booked the orchard site which was gorgeous and private. Communication with Darren was on point, and he and his wife had great recommendations within the area. The view from our spot was brilliant, and we watched many wedge-tail eagles flying so close - such a cool experience. As Darren and his family live on the property, they are often out working on the land so if you’re after seclusion, this isn’t your cup of tea. We did really enjoy our 3-nights in Franklin and will recommend to our friends and family.

This is a lovely site, and the host Darren, goes out of his way to make sure his guests have a great stay with his personal touches or setting up the fire and hanging a hammock, to spend time between the beautiful Huon Pine Trees listening to the birds.

We loved our visit here, particularly how peaceful and quiet it was. It is in a sheltered position from the wind, with only one other camper which was great. The access to the site is easy, and having water available is very helpful. The host Darren is very kind and helpful. We are looking forward to our next visit, when we are in the area.

What a wonderful, peaceful place to stay and delight in the serenity of an orchard with wonderful bird life, which add to the tranquility of this picturesque property. The host Darren, is very helpful in making our visit enjoyable and is very deserving of his five star rating. It was a lovely touch to find the fire pit setup today, ready for use tonight. The beauty of this property is that it only hosts two campers at a time, which creates a restful place to stop for a much needed rest after travelling for a while. We extended on our first visit, and are looking forward to staying another couple of nights on our way back to the area.

12/10 service by the host. Crazy friendly and helpful. Great location. Beautiful views. The alpacas are adorable. Kids are saying too many good things about this trip (including a teenager. Enough said)

We absolutely loved our stay at River Huon Views. The site was private, with amazing views of the river, exactly as described. We were sheltered from the winds and surrounded by orchards and a very large pine, where beautiful little blue wrens darted around morning to night. Town was a mere 1klm walk away and the larger township of Huonville a five minute drive. Darren was a fabulous host, full of local knowledge and super friendly and chill … we would recommend this place 100% !

Nice and welcoming host. The site doesn’t have much flat ground to level bigger RV’s or Campers. But other than that it’s a great location with lots to do and see nearby.

We loved our stay here. Close to town. Water and a dump point can be accessed (handy) and Darren is a very hospitable host. Nothing was too hard. BTW, good directions provided so easy to find. Darren met us at the gate. Too easy.

Good base for Huon area

If our site had been further back from the road, that would have been much better, but due to the rain it wasn’t possible sadly, subsequently a lot of loud traffic passing. But Darren was excellent to communicate with and it’s a decent location to explore the surrounding areas.

Loved having the place to ourselves lovely view across river up the mountain. Had potable water and dump point. Host meet us at gate and was very helpful. Great place to stay

Had a great time staying on Darren’s property. Lovely spot, beautiful fruit orchard that we got to pick fruit from and some cheeky alpacas! What more could you want. Would recommend staying here!

Fantastic experience on Darren’s new Valley Vista campsite. Darren always up for a funny informative chat. Helped us with a fire pit which was perfect, and generally made us feel super welcome. Good phone coverage to make it easier to plan, and great views!!
