Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Just a short turn off from the Great Eastern Drive between Triabunna and Swansea, with easy access to Maria Island and Freycinet National Park, Kanyini Camp is a beautiful and serene piece of land backing on Butlers Ridge Nature reserve with sweeping country views. We are one of only a few farms on a no through road and offer a unique experience of peace and serenity while being close to some of the major attractions the East Coast of Tasmania has to offer. We are located only a 10 minutes drive to one of the most beautiful (secret) beaches in Tasmania and 15 minutes drive to Triabunna where the ferry departs for Maria Island. We live on site (a few acres away across the rivulet) and are delighted to offer 10 opportunities for self-contained campers to camp on our private land and share our passion for the area. This is a leave no trace property that suits self-contained campers who bring everything they need and remove everything they bring. Well behaved dogs and humans are all welcome. We are farmers and this property is where we live and work. Please respect our requirement for self-contained campers only. This includes caravans and campervans with toilets on board. If you have a camper trailer with portable ensuite tent and toilet, please contact us PRIOR to making the booking. Very easy to find & to access, including easy turn around area for 2WD vehicles, camper trailers, campervan and caravans.A tranquil paddock at the feet of a mountain range with sweeping country views and a secret beach less then 10 minutes drive. You can have it all at Kanyini Camp. This campsite for self-contained campers is still the best kept secret of the East Coast and with a bit of luck, you will have it for yourselves. Previous guests describe their stay at Kanyini Camp as a peaceful and serene experience and keep coming back. From there, you can explore the best this part of the world has to offer. Tasmanian's jewel Maria Island, award winner fish and chips van in nearby seaside village Triabunna, many walks and local beaches; all a short drive away. We are a French Australian couple and love meeting new people. We chose to settle in this part of the world after living on the road traveling around Australia in an expedition truck for 3 years and we are so happy to be able to give back, share our local knowledge and answer any question you may have.  BYO firewood and enjoy a campfire under the stars while spotting some wallabies and maybe even the famous Tasmanian devil. In summer, please check the website before arrival and respect the fire ban if in effect. We have no facility to offer other than nature, peace of mind that you won't be disturbed and our hospitality. We Only Accept Self-Contained vehicles with toilets, NO tents or swags sorry. We are farmers and this property is where we live and work. Please respect our requirement for self-contained campers only. This includes caravans and campervans with toilets on board. If you have a camper trailer with a portable ensuite tent and toilet, please contact us PRIOR to making the booking. All well behaved humans and pets welcome. Please pick up after your dog and do not leave toilet paper or rubbish in the paddock. You are welcome to let your grey water run on the ground as long as you use exclusively earth friendly products. We have sheep in this paddock in winter and any chemical you drop on the land they will eat in the grass. This means earth friendly dishwashing product, soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and any other washing product. Thank you. Finally, please do not empty the content of your caravan cassette behind the tall grass. We had this happening twice and it was not fun to pick up.

Nice quiet spot. Plenty of space for our big van and nice and flat ground. Good location for some local beaches, wineries and walks.

Peace & quiet
If you love peace and quiet (sometimes the only campers on site) then this is the place for you. And only minutes from a supermarket, cafes, beaches and the Maria Island ferry. We did a lot of exploring while in the area. We spent Christmas here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you so much Florence for all the info you shared with us and for providing a well maintained spot for us to stay.

Exceptional value for money
Great check-in, Florence accommodated a very last minute request after local camp grounds were packed. Communication was great, the guide provided to us on the area and the property was fantastic, we checked out some of the recommended eating options and attractions and were impressed. The property area is really decently sized for the amount of sites. We got to pick our own spot and there was good distance between us and our neighbours. The area was peaceful, and couldn’t hear any roads. We managed to catch the Aurora Australis on our last night which was so magical. The sky scene is gorgeous. Only downside is you need to drive to town as it’s too far to walk. Will absolutely be returning and recommend to our friends and family.
