Conveniently located between Launceston and Devonport, Buckbill Banks Camping offers a beautiful, level camping area overlooking Quamby Brook Creek. The 35-acre property offers views of Quamby Bluff, and various options to explore and relax. Find yourself a nice quiet spot, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. Although we take several bookings at once, you are guaranteed a secluded nook, there is plenty of space. There is a wood fired hot tub beside the creek, which all campers have access to. Imagine star gazing from the hot tub of an evening, or enjoying a morning soak whilst keeping your eyes peeled for the resident platypus in their natural habitat! Firewood is provided for the hot tub, you may buy wood on site for your individual campfires. The hot Tub is not for wild parties, but to relax and view the native wild life, quietly watch the platypus in their natural environment. Please note, we accept one camper trailer/caravan per booking. If you are traveling in a group with multiple caravans, you will need to book multiple sites - but will still be able to camp close together although we dont allow big noisy, disruptive groups anymore! The property has good access for all types of vehicles.

Duckbill Banks Camping
We loved our experience at Duckbill Banks, did see the platypus a couple of times. The peaceful environment was what we crave after many bad experiences at regular camp grounds. The hosts Tamika and Bert were outstanding and it shows in their little piece of paradise. Thankyou and we'll be back!

Loved our stay!
We only stayed one night here, but it was one of the most peaceful places we stayed at in Tassie. The hot tub was fabulous and we’re lucky enough to see a very fleeting platypus! Highly recommend!

Duckbill Banks Camping
We have enjoyed staying at Tamika's hipcamp on a number of occasions, the hot tub is wonderful and the location is very peaceful. During our last stay i have noticed the nightly rate has increased and currently is the most expensive hipcamp in northern Tas, although it a lovely location the nightly price will restrict us returning.

Serenity
We loved our time at Duckbill Bend. 5 days of nothing but birdsong, babbling river and the space to breathe. The hot tub was shared amongst all who stayed with no issues. Previous groups have obviously caused Bert and Tamika some trouble, so Bert’s serious demeanour is warranted, but he warmed up in no time 🙂 Beautiful spot, we will be back.

Pretty Peaceful Paltypus
A beautiful and tranquil spot to camp, definitely one of the most tidy and presentable my partner and I have stayed at in the wilderness (not to mention how wonderful that hot tub is)! Thank you for all of your hard work Bert and for not only making a beautiful spot available for campers, but also loving and protecting the native wildlife here and allowing visitors to gently enjoy their safe and exquisite haven. Would highly recommend to those looking for a dreamy and peaceful spot surrounded by curious bush critters and the unique Tasmanian landscape.
