We loved this spot, beautiful by the river and some alpacas for neighbours. The fire drum and firewood provided made our night very comfortable. No luck on the trout, but maybe that’s just a good excuse to come back. Could genuinely spend a week here, going in and out seeing the sights around the area. Easy booking, easy directions, 5 star Hipcamp!!!

I don’t want to talk this place up because it feels like a best kept secret. It’s such a lovely place on the river, with the alpacas and chickens roaming. We ride from here to Derby, or it’s a 5 min drive.
James, Graham and Christine are great hosts!

I had an amazing stay at this Hipcamp! Why would you stay in the hustle and bustle of Derby when you can escape to the serenity of this beautiful spot? The peaceful surroundings were perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. The creek bed was definitely a chilly swim, but it was so refreshing and enjoyable. We also took a few day trips to explore the stunning St Helens and beyond, making it the ideal base for adventure. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with plenty to explore nearby!

Perfect for us, friendly hosts, we could have a fire, we like privacy and quiet and a spot to fish, although no fish were harmed in our adventure. Privacy gave a bit of space for our well behaved dog to have a little freedom. It’s a lovely walk down the road into town, with an IGA, a quaint coffee shop and a hotel! To top it off on the last day I saw a platypus.

James and father Graham ensured our arrival was smooth and welcoming with a good orientation to the site.
We felt very comfortable and safe there. Swam in the adjacent Ringarooma River, shared with the resident Platypus!
Ground was green and grassed with plenty of flat spots to pitch the tent.
We had cute Pademelon visitors overnight, they enjoyed the watermelon 🍉 we accidentally left out over night 🥰 If you hear thumping at night it’s them.

Such a lovely campsite next to the river. With spots you can dip on for a shallow swim. Take rock shoes as slippery though. Very peaceful and pretty. The supplied firewood is a bonus! Best part was having the spot all to myself!
James and Graham were really lovely and helpful. Graham is really interesting and was happy to share his knowledge and history. The walk to the old mine sites was beautiful and worthwhile. Would highly reccomend this site.

The area is so peaceful and beautiful right on the river. With fire wood supplied and there's nice little walks around their property. James and his dad are so helpful. . I highly recommend staying with them.

Absolutely beautiful, quiet and well kept camping area. James and Graham are great hosts that met us on arrival and escorted us to the site which was much larger than expected. Already booked another visit early next year. Keep up the good work.

Peaceful, convenient location (short walk to Branxholm). Hosts very hospitable. Alpacas are very amusing. Way exceeded our expectations. Natural spa in the river refreshing after a hot ride. See you again!

We absolutely loved it here. Well kept and private. James and Grahame came down to say hello and explained the fun points of the area. We went for a swim in the river and it was such a highlight. A few paddy melons and their babies came for a visit at sunset as well as the possums at night.
We can't say enough great things regarding this spot.
We hope others enjoy it as much as we did.

Gorgeous spot for camping! Exactly as described and seen in pics. Site is flat & grassy with plenty of space to gather around the fire or play cricket & kick a ball around. The pool just up the road is great for all ages. James was easy & helpful to communicate with 👍

This was a delightful site. Perfectly manicured and on the edges of a beautiful river. Met on arrival for escort to site and had several chats with host family. Great fire with plenty of wood provided. Walking distance to quintessential country pub and a cafe for morning coffee - and the best pies ever, esp the lamb. Lots of history and scenery in area. A 10/10 Hipcamp!

Amazing location. Got to see a platypus playing in the river, I also played in the river. Was a bit too rocky for the kids but the free pool up the road was great.

Absolutely stunning! The photos don’t do it justice. If you want privacy, this is the place to be. Well sheltered, grassy and flat. Walking distance to cafe, restaurant and quaint little hotel. James was away but Graham made us very welcome, we couldn’t have asked for a better host. Can’t wait to camp there again.

An amazing place to be on our own to enjoy an incredible, peaceful, private campsite on the edge of the Ringarooma river. A beautiful, flat grassed area with ample wood supplied, thanks to our hosts James and his Dad, Graeme, who checked on us daily over our 3 night stay to make sure our needs were met and to explain the walks and history of the local area. The local Pub and restaurants were within walking distance from the campsite and we would definitely recommend this campsite. We'll be back!!

This is a gem of a campspot set on the banks of the Ringarooma River. It was private with only the sounds of nature for company. Some lovely bushwalks on the property and in the area to take in the beautiful scenery and learn about the tin mining history. Graham and Christine (James' parents) were the perfect hosts, welcoming us and offering suggestions for walks etc. We saw platypus in the river, the alpacas were friendly and the local Cafe, and Italian restaurant food was authentic and tasty. Would certainly recommend this site for a peaceful and pleasant stay.

Magical spot next to the river, easy ride or drive away from Derby bike tracks, close to shop and lovely hosts! We bathed in the river and sat around the fire at night, can’t wait to be back.
