Located just a 20 minute drive from the city of Hobart, the 0.67 hectare coastal bush property is set in a little valley right by Kingston Beach, Browns River and Tyndall Beach. It's just a short 5 minute stroll down the road to the beach, or up the road to the start of the Alum Cliffs Track. Activities you can enjoy here include birdwatching, bushwalking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing, bike riding. You'll be staying in the recently built comfortable bedroom with ensuite bathroom tucked under my house. There's a double bed made up with fresh linen. You'll enjoy hot showers, a flushing toilet and almost complete privacy. Mains water means no problem with water. With prior notice you could use the washing machine inside the house and hang your clothes on the makeshift clothes line strung between trees. Parking for two cars and/or caravan/campervan is easy. A circular driveway surrounds the house with a driveway extension. Work is planned to build an outside kitchen at the nearby shed, but for now campers need to be self-contained for their cooking and washing up, or else walk to Kingston Beach or venture into town for meals. I'm a keen gardener; food scraps go in the compost bin on site. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a fire when conditions allow it. Firewood is free and can be easily collected from around. There's a wood fired bush bath to use too, conditions allowing, with advance notice. Wildlife are aplenty, including birds, wallabies, possums and bandicoots. You are welcome to bring your small dog but please ensure it's under control at all times. Wildlife are at risk if your dog is a hunter and roams free. Tyndall Beach (the Kingston dog beach) down the road is where your furry friends can have a run. Walk them to the beach on a lead and let them off there. This is the perfect place to experience a little bush luxury before taking off on your Tassie adventures. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here, and I very much look forward to meeting you!

Bush Refuge by the Sea
This was a beautiful spot to stay over the Easter long weekend. Truly a refuge by the sea. The apartment itself is perfectly sized & bathroom was great. Heating was excellent. The sound of the sea & the birds was very peaceful - but the shops of Kingston were actually just minutes away. Barbara is a great host with excellent communication.

Magical beach retreat
Barbara’s place is a well kept secret! It is quiet, relaxing and the outdoor bath experience was just magical! The interior space is beautiful, meticulously decorated with all the comforts. We were toasty with panel heaters in both rooms, and the location is perfect - just a short 2 min walk to the beach and another 5 mins to cafes. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Bush Refuge by the Sea
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Barbara’s bush retreat. A camp without a tent … perfect when you love the bush and beach but need a comfy bed. Short walk to beach. Can have your own private camp fire or a bush bath! Highly recommend. Barbara is the perfect hostess and made us feel very welcome.

Bush Refuge by the Sea
The perfect retreat in the Bush and close to the ocean. Shops are short walk away if needed too. I took my little camp cooker and esky and not having a kitchen was not a problem. I enjoyed the simplicity. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the trails that are right on your doorstep. Comfy, clean and delightful place to stay. Highly recommend Barbara's place.

Lovely!!
Cute little unit with a comfortable bed and lots of thoughtful little touches. Barbara was a friendly host and great with communications. This would be an ideal spot for someone travelling with a van who wants a base where they can access the Channel/Huon and Hobart areas by car. Also just as good for some car free time as there are walks around the area and Kingston Beach is nearby. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous little bush hideaway
My family and I absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous little bush hideaway, situated just above Kingston Beach and within walking distance of some amazing walking trails, including the Alum Cliffs track to the Shot Tower in Taroona. Barbara was a wonderful host - very friendly and thoughtful, and the accommodation was lovely, with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! I can highly recommend this beautiful bush retreat! :)
