Black Cockatoos' Rest is a great base camp from which to explore this beautiful region of Tasmania. Locally, take a short walk into historic Franklin where you can enjoy a picnic on the foreshore, kids' playground, and even pull out the fishing rod to see what you might catch. Franklin has cafes, restaurants, and pubs to enjoy a nice cuppa or a good meal if you don't want to cook at the end of the day. 30 minutes south you can enjoy Tahune Airwalk a fantastic day trip, another 40 minutes south enjoy the beauty of Dover then travel to Hastings Caves and the thermal pool.

Beautiful spot with amazing views over the river valley. Loved our 3 night stay. Wendy and and Chris are very friendly and warm hosts. The rustic "Cockys Kitchen" would be a great place to hang and read or play games if the weather was poor with a little fire there as well.

The view from this spot was amazing. Very windy spot due to the hight of the position of the camp site. It would be better with a grassy ground or gravel than dirt. The wind caused us to be covered in dirt. Very good hosts, directions were very clear and detailed.

Great greeting & check in, lovely site with gorgeous view that suited us and our pooch. We didn’t use the facilities being self contained but it looked like they were good. I’m sure we’ll go back.

My husband and I loved the view from this site, absolutely glorious. The toilet, shower and camp kitchen were much appreciated and made our stay much more comfortable. Our hosts, Wendy and Chris, were welcoming and helpful.

The place is really spacious and gorgeous, great shower and campfire. I suggest to everybody to go and say hi to the 3 friendly dog and the sweet and kind guest of this camp. Thank you for the stay :)

The camping areas were well thought out, it rained during our stay and drainage was fantastic. Owners were super friendly and organised. Toilet, shower and kitchen were really clean. Cockys hideaway was in a central spot and we even saw some black cockatoos which was a real treat!! Firepits and some firewood were provided.

Beautiful outlook from campsites. Only a short walk from the campsite to the well set up camp kitchen and bathroom facilities. Walkable distance to Franklin. Had a really enjoyable stay.

Cockys Nest was an awesome place to camp ⛺️ for a few nights. Wendy and family were awesome hosts and nothing was an issue. Great little area to get in out of the weather, also toilet and shower in that space. Plenty of fire 🔥 wood 🪵 to keep you warm and we look forward to staying again soon.

This is a lovely spot, with an incredible view over the river. I sat in the evening and watched the yellow tail black cockatoos circling overhead. Lovely clean camp kitchen, toilet and shower. Wonderful hosts, couldn't have been kinder. I will be back when l come down this way again. Thankyou.

Hands down the best place I have ever camped! The most beautiful views, firewood and pit provided, so peaceful and the toilet and hot shower was the icing on the cake. Slept like a log! Wish I could stay for longer ⛺️❤️
