What a beautiful spot! Amenities were clean and abundant. Alarna and Steve were a pleasure to deal with and super accomodating. I’ll definitely be back.

We LOVED our stay at base camp Tasmania!! So much amazing wildlife, the hosts were exceptionally helpful and have us some great info about our onward travel which lead to a great trip!
Fantastic amenities (kitchen, toilets, showers) and all so well maintained. Really enjoyed it!

Hosts were super accommodating to the fact that I accidentally booked the wrong night!! As a young solo female traveler I felt so so safe! Got to meet the owner and their neighbour who were lovely, jack the wombat was good fun!!
Driveway was a little intimidating but I made it up in one piece :)
Well worth the stay, hope to come back soon! Thanks for the stay!

Alana & Steve have created the perfect get-away. Away from the crowds, elevated, space, beautiful nature in spades, awesome amenities.. everything you need for a rest. Highly recommended for at least a few days.. if not longer.

What a lovely location...way up the hill but so worth the drive! The facilities are well cared for and very environmentally sound! We will definately be back and tell all our friends about it! Thanks again Alana and Steve such a great location!

Base Camp Tas was such a great camp spot. All the facilities made it feel like luxury camping with hot showers and fully equipped kitchen. The site had some narrow spots so it was a little tricky to manoeuvre our big car in but luckily it wasn’t full so we had space available. There’s also pademelons and wallabies galore, and you might see a devil if you’re lucky. Steve and Alana were excellent hosts, very friendly and easy going. We will be back!

Flexible check in and beautiful grounds. Loved the kitchen and washroom areas. Host was very kind and helpful. Would have loved to stay longer!!

Perfectly situated and pretty remote but absolutely beautiful location.
Very kind host Steven showed us what to expect and also opportunities for travelling etc
Every evening he was interested in what we had done during the day and also treated the wallaby’s and also Jack the wombat with some food
The place is very clean and very good equipped kitchen and fridge etc
Nice place and nice host I would recommend this camping, we were travelling with only a tent and stayed 4 nights

Steve and Alana have such a beautiful site and they are fantastic hosts. The kitchen is well stocked with basics and utensils, as well as very clean. The showers and bathroom were also super clean. Steve was very helpful in recommending walks and routes to take around Tassie; clearly loves where he lives and helping others to see the best bits of it. The animal feeding in the evenings was so cute. Would definitely recommend this campsite and would love to visit again!! Can’t recommend enough!!

We.loved staying here in our roof top tent. Beautiful location (where we saw an echidna as well as pademelons) and the facilities were excellent- a great kitchen/lounge space and a toilet, shower and laundry block. Everything was spotless.
The driveway was pretty hairy tho! Best in low gear as it is very steep with some very sharp corners.

Steve & Alana are legends. They are fabulous hosts & the property itself is amazing. The facilities are great, the wildlife is abundant, & the peacefulness of the campground is truly remarkable. It was great to use as a basecamp to explore the area & also for taking a break from excursions while having the comforts of home out in the bush. Good people go here!

Perfect quiet location. Lived up to the name as “base camp”. So peaceful didn’t want to leave.
Ammenities are above anything experienced in other locations saying this I felt we were at a family getaway home and not a camp ground.
Planning the next trip but next time we will stay longer.

Alana and Steve are great hosts and their property is peaceful and beautiful. As everyone says, the entry is quite steep but was fine in our campervan, although could be challenging in the wet. Best amenities we encountered - clean, spacious and comfortable.

We loved the peaceful, beautiful ambience of Base Camp. Steve & Alana are very friendly, welcoming, sharing their space, knowledge & keeping a very clean, well stocked place. The drive in is narrow, but able to be done in a 6m campervan. Abundant wildlife, birds, flora & stars!

Although a challenge to get to in our motor home, this place is a hidden gem. Alana and Steve were great hosts and own an amazing property. They provide top quality service, are very friendly as well as other fellow campers on site. If you are in Tasmania near here, I highly recommend taking the time to stay here.

The dorm was lovely- so cosy on a cold night. Amazing facilities and location, would definitely come back just to hang around in a hammock and read.

Hands down, the best camp experience ever!!!
After extensively travelling Australia over the last 35 years by road when on holiday and camping the majority of these times, this is by far the best camping experiencing I have ever had, full stop!
The owners, Steve and Alana are welcoming, knowledgeable and very helpful...nothing is too much for them...
The facilities are impeccable and to a very high standard with Steve welcoming and embracing any feedback to improve his guests experience...
You could literally turn up with a little bit of food and have a magical camping experience as the camp kitchen has everything you might possibly need to prepare and cook your food. There is a deck attached with large bbq and bench table to sit at from which you can admire and absorb the impressive view of the neighboring mountain range through the
large surrounding Eucalypt canopy...
Two large fridge/freezers provide ample space for all your goodies to be stored at the right temperature. There is a third similar sized fridge/ freezer in the adjacent amenities with two free washing machines and dryers!!!
The variety of wildlife is abundant and the level campground, nestled amongst the towering Eucalypts is impressive. Exhilarating yet peaceful at the same time. If you sit there and listen to the wind in the canopy taking in all that nature has to offer in this magical place...she might just give you a brief glimpse of her breathing...the natural order to life...
Simply...just go...live.!

Great camping facilities. Very clean communal area and bathrooms. I've never been someone who has been turned off by a long-drop toilet. But if you are, fear not! These are the cleanest long drop and shower facilities I have ever experienced. The hosts are lovely!!! And, to top it all off, we really loved the nightly native wildlife.
