A Mixed experience
6 m travel trailer · With kids · We arrived around 10 pm, exhausted after a long drive with our two kids and dogs. Unfortunately, our arrival was complicated by unclear instructions, and we ended up driving onto the host’s personal property.
The host greeted us shortly after, and the encounter was unfriendly. Her tone was rude and dismissive, and when we explained the mistake and asked for directions, she curtly replied, “Why didn’t you follow my instructions? Good luck not hitting anything.” It was a narrow entrance, and her comment only added to our frustration. She also scolded us about keeping our dogs on leash, which, while understandable, felt unnecessarily harsh.
Despite the rocky start, we managed to find a spot after 30 minutes of driving around in the dark, relying on satellite maps due to vague instructions. A clearer map or layout would have been very helpful.
Once settled, the campsite itself was pleasant, with expansive land and ample privacy. We chose a spot with taller grass, though be aware that the area is near a noisy road. Wildlife, including kangaroos and an echidna, was a highlight.
While the host’s attitude left much to be desired, her father was much friendlier and so empathetic. He was amazing. Overall, the site has potential, but a friendlier welcome and clearer instructions would improve the experience significantly.
Maybe draw a map of the campsite. Ensure to arrive during the day to know where to park.
