If you want the pleasure of an escape from the modern world, hear the silence, experience solitude, see vast skies with unique clarity of light, Quondong is for you. Quondong is a working merino sheep station. Since 2020, after the driest year on record we took this opportunity to take a new direction, regarding our merino flock and our land management. We are no longer mulesing sheep, which is considered extremely fool hardy but with a change in the genetics to Soft Rolling Skinned merinos we hope to be vindicated. We are also the custodians of a very beautiful and fragile land, on which we must lightly step. We are therefore embracing “Ecologically Sustainable Rangelands Management” practices. Stop, look, and experience this vast wilderness. There are few places like this left in the world.

Black Oak Campsite

RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 25 m
Camp surrounded by the Black Oak Trees (Casuarina Pauper), also known as Belah, which covers 57% of Quondong. The foliage is not composed of true leaves but rather of jointed branchlets that function like leaves. The true leaves are tiny, tooth-like structures protruding from around the top of each joint. Soaking the cones of the black oak in water produces a lemony drink. Firewood is available to purchase at the homestead for $15/ wheelbarrow. Caravan friendly!

Eremophila Campsite

RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 25 m
Eremophila (Eremophila Sturtii), also known as turpentine or kerosene bush, was unloved by the early pastoralists, as stock did not eat it. The aboriginals used Eremophila branches to repel insects. Now the plant is greatly desired due to its ability to sequester carbon. There are 8 varieties of Eremophilia on Quondong, and from this campsite in spring, go exploring and find them in flower! Firewood is available to purchase at the homestead for $15/ wheelbarrow.
