Very friendly owners and great sites there is a lookout 3 quarters up the hill that would make for a beautiful camp but regardless it was very good

Site 3 - Tawny Dragon Retreat

Great green space and we had it all to ourselves. Very quiet and peaceful with a hill climb to watch the sunset. Rob came to say hello and was very friendly and approachable.

Lovely spot, lots of room and peaceful, relaxed arrangement, nice outlook, friendly hosts. We missed a bit due to a bit of weather which chased everone out overnight, big gully winds etc, and was fairly prevalent with prickles - Erodium carolinianum I think - which were tough on our long haired dogs.

This was my third trip to Gum gully and we had an absolute blast. Rob & Jo were as always very welcoming to us all. Highly recommend anyone looking to escape from.the city, get out to some lovely quiet with amazing hiking trails give them a shot :)

Feeling of space without going far

We had a beautiful drive to the camp checking the historic buildings and canola fields on the way. We arrived to a great spot - open paddocks gave a sense of space. Rocky outcrops in the area had a Flinders Ranges feel and made for some nice hiking up the hill to see the views. Highly recommend this for those looking for a getaway without having to drive far.

Rob & Jo’s property is beautiful! My partner and I decided to go on a last minute camping trip for one night at their Kookaburra campsite. The stars were gorgeous & the surrounds were lush green! It was such a peaceful time to go and spend a night beside the campfire. Would highly recommend! :)

We camped during the first week of August and were lucky to have the entire site to ourselves. The weather was perfect—sunny days with no wind—and the surrounding green paddocks were absolutely beautiful. Each campsite came with its own fire pit, and the area offered lovely walks. We also met Rob and Jo, who were incredibly warm and welcoming. It was a peaceful getaway, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet escape. Ps the Palmerston pub had lovely meals to.

Stunning Location

My friend and I had an absolute amazing time at the Kookaburra Gum site. We arrived late at night, set up our camp-site, made a fire and dinner. When we woke up in the morning, to daylight was we're in absolute awe of our surroundings. Rob and his wife have such a stunning property and we felt to lucky to have found it and that they share it with campers like us! This was my first attempt at camping in winter and I really loved it. We are already planning a group trip back to this location ! Thanks again, truly wonderful experience! Also despite us arriving very late at night, everything was super easy to find and directions were easy to follow!

Caravan Park Prices

I booked this place due to it's proximity to Monarto Safari Park. Although the place was quiet even though the camp is next to a public road that is rarely used it seems, it doesn't have enough going for it to justify the price. The host was lovely and made sure to check on me and point out the walk you can take to the top of the ridge, but for that price, there should be more. I understand why others have gone looking for facilities although it clearly states there is none. No internet either. I don't regret my choice to stay there but would not return.

A wonderful location that feels remote and secluded. We stayed at Kookaburra Gum Campsite and would recommend for a larger group. Great hosts who facilitated easy access. Please note phone reception is limited in the area so share travel details with your travel mates ahead of time. Definitely keen to return

Easy to follow directions to the site. Clearly signed and plenty of information on local walks and attractions. The sites are well spaced and provide plenty of room to setup and enjoy the campgrounds without feeling like you're on top of one another. The walking trail offers some fantastic views and was easy to spot. Rob was friendly and very welcoming. Definitely worth checking out!

Loved the peace and quiet. Perfect for us as a base to explore the region. Note that sites are quite close together (50m) and most are not level which makes setting up a challenge. Rob the host came to visit to make sure all ok which was very nice touch. 9

Site 3 - Tawny Dragon Retreat

We chose the Kookaburra Gum site because it was completely fences so perfect for small children. Our boys loved playing in the little stone circle around the old gum tree. Rob was easy to talk to and very quick to respond. The other campsites are well spread out through the neighbouring field so you can really hear each other. The slope is fairly pronounced and probably suits caravans that you can level. It levels out slightly by the old gum and firepit so we set up there (tents). The walk was beautiful and had great views over the valleys. We were hit by a large dust storm and strong winds thought the valley but the trees break up a bit of it. Many ants.

We stayed at site 2 - Echidna Place in our caravan & it was a perfectly flat spot so no levelling required. The hosts were extremely accommodating in allowing us to stay when they were actually closed. Rob dropped in for a chat & check we were good which was lovely. The walking trail provided amazing views at the top of the hill & a nice walk around their property. We had a relaxing, quiet stay & would definitely come back when in the area. Highly recommend to others with fully equipped camping, campers or caravan set ups.

Rob & Jo's spot was wonderful. Other camper's were on site but with a good distance between groups and everyone was great. Loved the walking trail on their property as well!
