Located between the Northern Flinders Ranges and the Southern Flinders Ranges, but only a quick 20 mins from full shopping and medical needs. Set with a backdrop of high mountain ranges, deep gorges and looking towards blue waters of Spencer Gulf, 'Catninga' is the perfect choice to give you a taste of the Flinders Ranges and some outback charm. We have stunning bush camping options including some powered sites; 'On Site Retro Caravan' or our 'Carriage BnB'; or 'Tiny House' (view separate listings to book these). Many hiking trails and nature walks. Our Peter Goode Gully Hike joins the Heysen Trail to take you to the top on Mt Brown. Selected farm animals to see and feed (please ask hosts before approaching any farm animals). Bush Camping Private bush campsites with no close neighbours located on the banks of a River Red Gum studded creek. Stunning scenery and beautiful sunsets. Enjoy our billion-star camping accommodation. Private long drop toilet available at each campsite. We have 'shower trees' at some bush campsites.

I was in camp 5, with only 1 other camper visible off in the distance. The space looking down towards Port Augusta is huge. Unfortunately it was 32 degrees and extremely windy, and was not comfortable at all. Loads of flies. Luckily the big old gum tree provided shade. Any walks were out of the question. Once the wind dropped and the flies disappeared it was a pleasant spot to relax in. The sunset was beautiful.

Site 1 bush camp with shower tree
Such a beautiful spot- my partner, pup and I, had the most relaxing time enjoying the stunning views and privacy of Camp 1. Would love to come back again with the family as there is so much space on each site, the long drops were clean as, and we’d like to explore the hiking further as it was quite hot by the time we peeled our bottoms of the camping chairs, and the snakes were out to play! Thanks again Heather 🙌🏽

What a great spot. Great hosts and an amazing outlook. Camp #5 is a neat bush setting and mountains in the background. Not far out of Port Augusta but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.

Helen saved me with a late check in as a national park campground nearby was unexpectedly closed. She was quick to respond with a booking request. property is easy to find. super spacious sites, heaps of room between you and others. Toilets. Property is on a rise so has a nice sunset view. And the icing on the cake, bush shower under a tree. What a treat.

A truly beautiful spot. Easy check in. Road is a bit bumpy. A fair few flies but of course this is expected around cattle. I would recommend visitors to bring a fly hat/net, it’ll be worth it :)

Absolutely stunning views, great secluded spot, lots of bird life to relax too. Wonderful hosts that went above and beyond for us. Close to Port Augusta if you need to go into a town but far enough away to for the peace! We will definitely visit again!!

Such a lovely campsite with views of the mountains and cattle in the surroundings. Trees provided shade and the dry toilet was clean. Heather was also really accommodating and helped us out with what we needed. Definitely would recommend.

Camp 4 was lovely, nice little flat spot down by the toilet block to set up swags/tents. Heather was very approachable and helpful and it was a nice and private camp-site, just how we like it. Will definitely stay again, hopefully when the weather is better!

Our 2nd stay at Catninga. Campsite 2 had a great view of the Gulf, Port Augusta’s lights and the ranges behind us. Beautiful sunsets. The Peter Good Gully walk is a fabulous hike , with phenomenal views!! Very friendly hosts. We’ll be back.

A great campsite with lovely views and so peaceful. Road in a bit rough but I just took it slowly . I was the only one there and felt safe. Brian was very knowledgeable and helpful. Heather responsive in messaging - important as I only booked that morning. Much better than staying in Port Augusta.

We loved camping here. It was so beautiful and peaceful - most of our stay it was just us, the cattle and the kangaroos.. Heather was a fantastic host. We definitely recommend this magical spot!

Unfortunately for me, my arrival was a day late due to car troubles then on arriving in lovely sunshine, it all changed. Lots of rain and way too much wind to even think of lightning the fire. Unfortunately I bought the wood and had to leave it behind ready to light with fire starters and all. The road in is not something I would want to do again in a 2wd but as my car is new to me, I'm a little more cautious. The camp site itself is certainly aimed more towards caravan or motorhome. Not so much camping. It can be done of course but quite a rocky ground to find a good spot for my tent. Very glad I had screw in stakes/pegs and my drill. That however is just an opinion on the camp site I had, not of the rest. I believe in a 4wd with a caravan in warmer, calmer weather, this would be a lovely, quiet get away.

We loved our short stay at Catninga . The camp sites are well spaced for privacy and have a long drop toilet. There are views towards the gulf and the ranges. The old gum trees are beautiful and with a welcome spot of rain the colours are amazing ! Birds, Roos, Emus and cows, all the wildlife you could wish for . We loved it and would definitely recommend. Stunning ! Heather was very welcoming and communication was great , thank you !

Magic place for an overnight (or longer). Very private and beautiful views to Port Augusta. If we stayed again would try and get the shower tree site as it has the same views but the cute outdoor shower as well.

Awesome place. We loved Catninga so much we stayed another night. The cattle roamed through the site. There were emus, roos and birds to sit back and watch. Incredibly peaceful place. The shower tree is something special too. Thank you Heather

Easy check in at the homestead. clean campsite with metal fire pit. Clean drop toilet with toilet paper. Our 2nd stay here and will be back again on way through.

This was a great stop for us. Nice big area. Views of the flinders , clean and quiet. We would definitely come back again as it’s a good spot to stay with dogs to explore the area. Heathers directions were straight forward.
