Easy to follow directions to a nice large camp area. James had fire wood and fire pit barrels ready at the sites.

Quiet peaceful and very private with only a few sites spread over a large area. Situated in a meadow with outlook to lots of Eucalyptus trees (species Eucalyptus Leucoxylon). Occasional kangaroos pass by. Great place to read and relax.

Instructions were very clear. Had no trouble finding the place. We had the place to ourselves, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Lovely out look. It was too windy for a fire, however there was plenty of firewood. Great place to get away from it all. Saw some wild life: lots of bird life and some kangaroos.

Great place. One hour from Adelaide, easy to find, peaceful, scenic, with a loo, wood for a fire, will definitely go there again.

Great spot, great views, firewood left in piles for easy use. Our spot was so level we didn’t even have to do anything with the caravan. James was really quick to reply to messages and very close to Victor Harbor which was handy. Next time we visit, we will bring friends along.

This place was wonderful, plenty of fire wood available and amazing space. Only thing to think about is if you suffer from hay fever like myself and son do be very prepared! Definitely recommend though

Perfect off-grid camping! We loved how open the space is, and how secluded we felt yet were still only 10mins from Victor Harbor. The free large firewood was a lovely touch. High recommend!

Amberfield Big Gum Camp is an absolute gem! My husband and I loved our stay here — the property is stunning, surrounded by tall Australian gum trees with a real “meadow” feel. We saw plenty of birds, and even had kangaroos wander through, which made it so special.
The campsite is peaceful and private — even when other campers were around, everyone was spread out, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. At night we enjoyed a lovely fire, and James kindly supplied the firewood, which made it extra cozy under the stars.
The location is fantastic too. Encounter Bay is just down the road, and in literally 10 minutes you can be in Victor Harbor, Port Elliot, or have access to all facilities. It’s also only about 30 minutes to Cape Jervis. We used it as a base to explore the Fleurieu Peninsula, visiting Deep Creek National Park, Rapid Bay, Morgan Beach and stretches of that breathtaking coastline.
A toilet available, which made things easy. If you’re looking for a tranquil, nature-filled escape that’s still close to everything, Amberfield Big Gum Camp is the perfect spot. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks James

We had a lovely nights stay at Amberfeld, we will definatley be back. The camp is large, tidy and there are lots of spots for you to choose from so you aren’t close to other campers. It feels remote but so close to town, shops and everything you need (or for us, home). We scrambled to book something for grand final long weekend as all the SA Parks campgrounds were booked and we are so happy we came across James’ place! We had some lovely visitors when the sun was going down and again first thing in the morning 🦘
It was lovely to sit and just listen to the birds, the fire wood provided is also a bonus and the composting toilet was clean! 100% recommend

Great place! The site's not too difficult to get to. It's close enough to Encounter Bay if you need provisioins. The site itself is quiet and peaceful. Easy to access. Clear instructions. James was very helpful.
