Hiawatha is an 800 acre cattle property situated about 10kms from Goomeri, in the South Burnett district in Queensland. It is a scenic area with Wonga Creek dissecting the property with hills on both sides of the valley. Boat Mountain, about 10kms to the west, is a striking backdrop. River Red Gums, Spotted Gum, Native Apple Trees, Narrow Leaf and Broad Leaf Ironbark are the dominant tree species.  Many native birds and animals reside at Hiawatha. Hiawatha is also a release site for native birds and animals that a local wildlife carer has cared for. For many years following European settlement, Hiawatha was a dairy farm. More recently, Hiawatha has been operated as a beef cattle, stock horses and hay business.

Very easy and very scenic
Excellent hosts, beautiful 360 degree views from the hill top camp spots and quality dry firewood. Bloody brilliant. Great location less than 10 min to Goomeri. Cheers for having us!

This spot is amazing!!!
Rob & Donna were amazing hosts. Donna greeted us with a complimentary carton of fresh eggs and was so welcoming. Donna then guided us to our camp spot on her quad bike. We towed our 21.6 caravan to the spot and it was absolutely amazing with a view in every direction, free firewood and the most beautiful sunset/sunrise. We had the whole place to ourselves and will definitely be back.

Love this spot
Wow what an amazing place to camp. The nearest campers were hundreds of metres away on another ridge. Amazing sunrises and sunsets. A bit windy in the afternoon but settled down in the evening. The eggs provided by our hosts were to die for. So much fire wood provided. Can't recommend highly enough. Our hosts were amazing. Will definitely be back.

Wonga Creek Retreat
STUNNING! What a beautiful property Rob and Donna have and how lucky that they are sharing it with hipcampers. Rob was a gem who gave us a free dozen fresh eggs and had a pile of firewood ready to go at our campsite. The view was breathtaking from the top of the hill campsite where we were. You would need 4wd to access our site, but I think there are other sites a little more tame? We managed to tow up our 13ft Offroad van easily up the Rocky hills. The stars were glorious at night and we heard different owls and animals around us. I can’t wait to go back again soon!

The best farm stay by a mile!
Stayed at Wonga Creek Retreat overnight on 29th September 2021 and booked the farm tour. Rob and Donna are amazing hosts. Their farm tour was very informative and interesting. The views from our camp site were spectacular. Can't recommend Wonga Creek Retreat highly enough. Thanks for your great hospitality Rob and Donna :) We will definitely be back.
