The Summit (High-Clearance 4WD)
Tent site · Sleeps 6PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY BEFORE MAKING A BOOKING REQUEST. We ask all campers to arrive before dark.
The Summit is spectacular. This is where you come to get away from it all. Wind down the day with your own private, uninterrupted sunset view. Camp on a completely private and flat space at the highest point in the area, nestled within towering old gum trees. Enjoy the company of koalas, goannas, wallabies, and (of course) the occasional snake. This is Australia, after all! And when it's time for breakfast, you are likely to wake up above the clouds. There is a long-drop toilet as well as non-potable water available via a gravity-fed IBC. This water is extremely difficult to replenish due to the remote nature of the site and we ask that it not be used for showers, please.
Please read this track description thoroughly and take it seriously. This site is for experienced 4wders, This is mountain driving, not for stock vehicles! All vehicles must be capable enough to reach the site, you cannot leave cars at the bottom as the cattle will most likely use them as scratching posts and remove your rear views. We get a lot of people who show up and are unable to reach the site and then request a refund after they've booked the site out for the entire weekend. Please know that if you cannot make it and the Chillin' Creek site is booked, we can't offer a refund, as it is then too late for anyone else to book the site. We make every effort to ensure that this won't happen, and so carefully vet our campers at the time of booking. Therefore, the following questions must be answered at the time of booking request. If you don't answer the questions we'll have to deny your booking. Send your answers with your booking request.
1. Vehicle Make and Model 2. Lift Height 3. tyres (size and type) Min 33" 4. Winch? 5. 4WD Experience. And remember, the beach doesn't count as 4WD experience. (Just whether or not you have proper four-wheel drive experience aside from beach driving) 6. Lastly, and I can't believe we have to ask this one but, how cold should your fire be when you leave it? This is a very serious question!
The track to this site is steep and rocky in parts and muddy in other parts and requires consideration of wheel placement. Some of the soil is clay and will quickly fill All-Terrains in wet weather. In the dry, you'll make it up on ATs but in the wet, you will require a good set of mud tyres and will probably have to spend some time winching if you have no diff lockers. One locker is very helpful. You will be required to air down to at least 25 PSI before you start your climb. There are absolutely NO TRAILERS PERMITTED at any time and there are no exceptions to this rule.
WE HAVE THREE RULES
1. PUT OUT YOUR FIRES COMPLETELY. This means your fire is cold to the touch before you leave. Yes, unfortunately, we have to ask. It's not common sense to everyone.
2. LEAVE NO TRACE. This includes the fire pits! Please do not put anything in your fire that doesn't burn. This includes cigarette butts.
3. Never approach the cattle with off-leash dogs. Sensible/well-trained dogs are included. Our cattle are trained and marketed as pet/therapy animals and any negative interaction with a dog can be incredibly damaging to their training.
