Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Our five acre property on the edge of the Great Dividing Range escarpment is just 10-15 minutes from the Toowoomba CBD. Fantastic mountain and valley views, quiet rural location but just minutes from golf, supermarkets, takeaways, pubs, restaurants, parks and Toowoomba's famous Picnic Point. Your camp spot is a flat, grassy field with fantastic views and privately located on the block next to but away from the main house. Access is just off the road and down a slight grassy slope - suitable for 4WDs and most off road caravans or camper trailers. All guests must be fully self- contained with shower, water and toilet facilities. There is a tap with fresh rainwater which can be used for boiling the kettle, washing up etc (dependent on property water levels as we are completely tank water reliant). Please take all rubbish with you. We welcome your furkids - but please keep them on leash at all times for their safety as we are close to a road and also have our own dogs who can get a bit barky when strangers approach. PLEASE NOTE: Access to our site can be weather dependent. The slope onto the site can mean that if there has been significant rain getting back up may be challenging, especially if towing a van or camper trailer. Please check with us for conditions before you arrive if you have any concerns.Pitch your tent or park your van in the shade or on the grass and enjoy the views across the Great Dividing Range to the valley below. Pull up a chair with a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset over the mountains. When the sun goes it's time for a fire, stargazing and conversation - we have a firepit and can provide a small amount of kindling but advise bringing your own wood. (Please note that fires are dependent on local conditions and advice at the time and we ask that all fires are extinguished before you head to bed). You will need to be self-sufficient and supply your own water, toilet and shower and take all waste you when you leave. We are located on a country road so you can expect to hear some cars driving by - mostly early in the morning and later afternoon. Pets are welcome but must be secured at all times. Because we live on a ridge it can be quite windy from time to time so check the forecast and secure loose items if needed. Mobile phone and wifi coverage is patchy but fine once you travel up the hill a bit towards town. PLEASE NOTE: Access to the site can be weather dependent. If there has been a lot of recent rain getting back up the slope from the campsite can be challenging, especially if towing a caravan or camper trailer. We will contact you if we believe there may be any problems. Please also check with us before you arrive if you have any concerns on the conditions.

On leash. We are pet lovers and have four of our own dogs so we welcome pets but want them to stay safe. We would hate to see your pet lost in the bush or hit by a car when they have run across the road to say hi to our neighbours' cows. Please have dogs on leash at all times and remove any pet waste. We can recommend local off leash dog parks and dog-friendly cafes.

Bring your own water, purify from tap. There is a tap however water should be boiled before drinking. Please use water sparingly as we are dependant on tank water for all of our needs.

This spot is one booking only (group or individual) which makes it very private which is perfect. Nice view, lovely flat area to set up, good fire pit… just perfect for a night or three when visiting Toowoomba or surrounding areas.

Definitely enjoyed our stay, beautiful view and lots of space, but felt as though we were super close to the hosts the whole time, house was all but watching over the camp and their dogs were barking at us and our dog the whole time meaning our dog wouldn't settle. It is also off a super busy road, so if you're looking for quiet it's not ideal. Hosts were however lovely and greeted us and were super nice.

We loved that it is so close to Toowoomba and so private. It was great to be able to visit friends who live there and see the sights and go out at night and only a 10min drive back to camp.

Rooftop camp at Whipbird Ridge was amazing. Beautiful spot. Amazing views. Was a tad windy but as to be expected on the escarpment.

Great area of flat land just off the road but still private as it’s down a slope. Rainwater available. Just 5 minutes from shops. Kerri and her family were lovely. Would stay there again.

Nice spot, shade there on hot days. The view was good and the road was close too, a lot of noisy traffic for such a small road. Hosts are friendly.

Lovely spot looking over the ridge, we made use of the fire pit that Kerri had - so nice to have a place all to ourselves so we could chill out. Close to Toowoomba if we needed to go into town. Kerri made us welcome. Thanks Kerri!

We really enjoyed Kerri’s location, beautiful spot with a nice area for a fire, conveniently placed next to the tap. So easy enough to wash hands and feet before bed. It’s very quiet in terms of the road nearby, the only noise we did hear was the dogs barking occasionally. It’s well priced for what you get, and an amazing view to wake up to in the morning.

Our Equipment: 4WD Vehicle + 17.5' off-road, s/c'd Caravan. We received a warm greeting from our hosts, Kerri & Michael. They were keen to see that settled in nicely, and to offer tips for local eats / attractions, etc. Kerrie informed us of the region's current fire restrictions, and gave clear instructions for how to safely & responsibly manage the fire-pit. We appreciate seeing hosts being honest & transparent in their listing discriptions, and Kerri & Michael are no exception to this. In particular, their listing description makes it very clear that this Hipcamp is suitable for semi-off-road vehicles only, due to the steep entry & exit (see photos). We agree with this statement, and would personally not recommend this Hipcamp for 2WD vehicles towing a heavy camper or van. The site includes access to water. Although the low-presssure of the tap available meant that we were unable to run our taps / shower directly from the outlet, this was not a problem for us, as we simply filled our tanks when needed, and continued to feed our van via its tanks. This site is both scenic & peaceful, and extremely convenient to Toowoomba city. Kerri works from home; it was a comfort knowing that she was available, in the event that we needed anything. Additional to this, the hosts' dogs were always on duty, and let us know whenever someone was coming & going from the property; an extra level of comfort for us also 😊 Thank you Kerri & Michael for allowing us to stay here!
