Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Escape to the quiet countryside at Illcarrie, a 160-acre working farm near Haden in the beautiful Queensland High Country. If you're looking for a peaceful, off-grid camping experience surrounded by nature, wildlife and wide-open spaces, Illcarrie offers the perfect rural getaway. Suitable for self-contained campers, tents, caravans and RVs, Illcarrie is an ideal base for birdwatchers, nature lovers and adventurous walkers. Explore the property's bushwalking tracks, discover hidden corners of the landscape and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Australian bush. Keep an eye out for the many bird species that call the property home. The walking trails are best suited to adventurous guests, with some sections being steep, rocky and slippery underfoot. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. As a working farm, you'll share the landscape with cattle and horses. Dogs are welcome but must be under control at all times, come when called, and remain on a leash around livestock. Please note that there are no toilets, showers or other amenities on site, so all guests must be fully self-contained. Generators are permitted for short periods of time, with consideration for fellow campers and the peaceful surroundings. Illcarrie offers a peaceful rural escape while still being close to local attractions and services: • 50 minutes to Toowoomba, Queensland's renowned "Garden City", known for its parks, gardens, cafes, markets and vibrant cultural scene. • 30 minutes to Crows Nest, where you can stock up on fuel and groceries, enjoy a great coffee, explore local art galleries, or visit nearby national parks and lakes. • 15 minutes to Goombungee, a charming historic town with beautiful jacaranda and silky oak-lined streets, excellent coffee, and the Rosalie Gallery. • Just 6 minutes to Haden, a tiny and peaceful rural township with a population of fewer than 250 people. Whether you're seeking a quiet weekend under the stars, a chance to reconnect with nature, or a base to explore the local region, Illcarrie offers a genuine farm-stay experience with plenty of room to roam.
