You’ll also find fascinating old farm equipment nearby, adding a touch of history to your stay. With access to wifi, this site provides a comfortable base for your adventure. Just remember, it's BYO firewood and there are no water or toilet facilities. All rubbish must be taken with you to leave no trace. As an added bonus, it’s a great spot for spotting native animals at night!

Mistake, this large grassy clearing is framed by sweeping mountain ranges and offers complete seclusion—perfect for campers who value space, silence, and starlit skies. Whether you’re setting up a few tents or rolling in with a 4WD camper, Grassy Flats gives you room to spread out and unwind. As the sun sets, watch the light shift across the peaks in a breathtaking display—this spot is known for its golden-hour glow and panoramic views in every direction. You’ll likely spot wallabies grazing nearby at dusk, and if you’re lucky, hear the soft rustle of night visitors. This area is home to a remarkable array of nocturnal wildlife, including gliders (multiple species), phascogales, possums, potoroos, bandicoots, and bettongs. To protect their habitat, we ask that campers avoid spotlighting—infrared or thermal viewing is welcome and low-impact. Front paddock site
Had a great 2 night stay at Thornton View Hipcamp. The Front Paddock site was easy to access with a 19'6 van in tow. The hosts were friendly and greeted us on arrival. Even though this site was close to the house we felt secluded. We enjoyed great mountain views and visits from cows and horses. Proximity to the Scenic Rim Trail was a bonus. We would definitely recommend this Hipcamp.

Beautiful camp site. All sites are very private from each other. Great place to start Scenic Rim trail. You can walk an hour uphill to see views on both sides of the valley. Gorgeous walk. Bring plenty of water though.
