**NEW AMMENITIES AND CAMP KITCHEN NOW OPERATIONAL** We're located on the banks of the Balonne River at Surat with a 10 acre fully fenced block suitable for RV, Caravans, Buses, Motorhomes, Camper Trailers and Tents. The block is flat with plenty of room for you and your friends. We have just installed a camp kitchen underneath the large covered area at the front of the property. We have provided a new BBQ, a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, saucepans, frypans, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery for you to use during your stay if needed. There is now a pool table for your enjoyment. Please put the green cover back on after use. Guests can be fully self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities or are welcome to use our new amenities block which has 3 toilets and 1 shower. These are located at the front of the property. Please turn off lights and close door after use. There are bins also located at the front of the property for your use including recycle bins for glass and plastic bottles and cans. We ask that you be considerate of other people using the space and clean up after yourself. The perfect place to get away on your own for some fishing or with a group of family and friends to have a relaxing time or be as active as you like. Pets are welcome and need to be on a leash and you are responsible for picking up after your pet. Great fishing spot with Murray Cod and Yellow Belly in the river which is accessible on the bank of our property and also from the boat ramp nearby. The block is any easy walk into town less than 1km. Bikes can also be used to access town. You can paddle boat, canoe, kayak or tinny boat and swim in the river. There are kangaroos coming into the property and a variety of birdlife. Fires are allowed but must be in a raised firepit or the communal firepit. There is some firewood around the property that can be used. Surat has 2 convenience stores, pub, coffee shop, boat ramp, petrol station, museum, public pool, Bowls Club and a hospital. Roma is 80km North and St George is 110km South. Potable water is available onsite and a dump point 200m from our driveway. Please do not empty toilet cassettes into our toilets under any circumstances. Grey water may be disposed of on the grass.

We absolutely loved our stay at Balonne River Retreat. Paulien and Shane were so welcoming to our little family and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The riverside location is beautiful and peaceful, and the new amenities and camp kitchen looks great. Our kids loved the space to explore, and we really enjoyed relaxing down under the trees! We will happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

What was advertised by Paulien & Shane is what we got. Space, shade & choice of site, fire pits and amenities. It was hot when we arrived, so we were able to select a site that had trees to provide some shade. The land is generally flat (we were camping, so important). We were impressed by the amenities, Paulien & Shane had invested in their property, something, we have found, isn’t always the case - recommended !

We absolutely loved staying at The Ballone River Retreat! Paulien and Shane are the most amazingly welcoming and friendly hosts. The communal camp kitchen, dining and social area is very well setup and has everything that you might need. We definitely recommend this place to other travellers and would stay here again

Nice property, flat and off the main road so it stays quiet, except for a neighbour that put a pretty good play list on at quite a volume. Saved me putting any music on. Owners are very friendly, facilities are clean and well cared for.

Great spot! We enjoyed 5 nights here, the facilities were clean and well maintained, everything was there if needed. It would be a great location to meet up with friends & family. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of this location and loved watching native birds and kangaroos. We will be back.

Bellone River Retreat was a fabulous place to stay. Plenty of flat sites to camp. Very quiet with close access to Surat. There is a fabulous camp kitchen with everything possible available. The three toilets and shower were very clean with hot water to shower in. Overall I would give this camp 10 out of 10.👍

Plenty of level spots available. We were the only people there on arrival with another van joining us the following day. Easy 10 minute walk into Surat. Nice communal area with a pool table etc. There was literally 100 vans at the donation camp on the main road. This was well worth the money to have some space. Only downside was that the neighbouring property owner blasted their music all day.

Overall fine but rather underwhelming given its name. The river is not visible from any of the sites - rather we felt hemmed in by local dumps and houses. It’s not even quiet given the proximity of the road and I’d hate to show up in even the best 4wd if it had reined in the last week

Beautiful peaceful place and an opportunity to have a fire for the first time on our trip. The amenities were clean and whilst we didn’t use the camp kitchen it was pristine and well decked out with cooking facilities including BBQ. We did a one night stopover and more than happy to pay for this site which was quiet, spacious and not competing with the free campers across the road.

We stayed with our camper trailer for one night. The camping area was really lovely, we chose to set up a little way from the camp kitchen and toilets because we are self sufficient but the camp kitchen facilities were excellent. Very peaceful night. Absolutely loved our stay and would return.

I loved staying there for a week, awesome camp kitchen and hot showers , 50 Mr to the river, good fishing, plenty of firewood. Close to town, peaceful and quiet spot

Lovely overnight stay. Unlucky with the fishing. Spacious sites. Amenities block clean. Great music but was a tad loud 😄
