* EDIT WE ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE WET SEASON...OPENING AGAIN 1st MAY 2026 * Caravan and RV ONLY camping on the banks of the Barron River. Large spacious bush sites with the option of fire pit. Abundant bird life, walks and swimming. This campsite suits self-contained campers equipped with drinking water supply as no potable water available. It also suits campers who enjoy the peace and quiet of the bush without loud neighbours. Of course quiet campfire banter is encouraged. BYO bike and cycle along the backroads passing through eucalypt bushland, cane fields and farming, finishing with lunch at a local coffee plantation. On the way home pop into the Mango Winery to top your day off with a delicious fruity champagne. NOTE; Dogs will be considered at the discretion of Rusty Pheasant owners. Please contact us prior to making a booking to discuss. Strict rules apply. Approval is only given if the breed, age and temperament is considered appropriate. Arriving on site without approval could mean cancelation of the booking and a direction to vacate.Caravan, RV camping on the banks of the Barron River. Great spot near the Barron river water was cool and clear. Well maintained, large sites, wood available which was handy. Hosts were so welcoming and friendly, will definitely be back.

Rusty Pheasant Farm is the perfect escape for both kids and adults! From the stunning swimming spot to the pool table and cozy indoor cinema, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The facilities are spotless, with clean toilets and showers, and the surrounding wildlife makes the experience even more magical. We always love coming here—it’s our go-to getaway for relaxation, fun, and a touch of nature

Rusty Pheasant RV Retreat
We had a lovely quiet time at Tonina's place. There's some history here, an old tobacco shed for starters ect...The camp-sites are big enough that we didn't have to unhitch our van. Each site has a firepit. There is 1 male and 1 female toilet and hot showers + 1 extra toilet and a laundry. Access to the Barron River is via a picturesque 2 minute meander down a path where we found a table and chairs and ended up spending a lot of time enjoying the views of crystal clear water flowing. Mesmerising. We'll be back for sure. 👍

Tonina met us when we arrived. Her instructions were freindly, clear and detailed. The camp spots were a great size so we were all spread apart and we could choose from a selection of sites. The facilities were clean. Loved all the shared amenities with recycled items. There were even chairs down at the river so we had a spot to sit after swimming. Highly recommend this for camping. Relaxing and peaceful.

We had an amazing stay, excellent clean amnesties, creek just a short walk away. Tonina was amazingly helpful host. A great home base to check out the tablelands with star gazing.

Rusty Pheasant RV Retreat
This is a great place to relax. Large sites, some under trees, provide plenty of room for families or couples. Barron River is a short walk, plenty of birds around to spot and the Milky Way is visible on clear nights. Will certainly go back to Rusty Pheasant.

Top spot for our 2 night stop over. Caravan site was very big, no noisy roads nearby and sites far apart. Great if you enjoy peace and quiet however plenty to do and see for day trips in the region. Tonina was most helpful and welcoming.

Wished we had stayed another night as the setup was great with plenty of room for the 5 or so other campers that were there as well. Lovely quiet spot on the Barron river with a nice setup with chairs and table to relax. We especially loved the historic touch with the cinema room and the camp kitchen. Thanks Tonia and family. Hope to come for a longer stay next time. 😊

What a beautiful weekend we had here!!!! The hosts were so welcoming and kind. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves, although if other campers were there it wouldn’t be a problem. Plenty of space between sites, fire pits at each site and a great quirky communal area. We loved our time there, would definitely recommend it and will be back.

Lovely peaceful property with sites well spaced out so you have privacy and plenty of room. Clean amenities, complementary fruit, lovely friendly hosts and a couple of horses to pat & feed. Have been before and will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommend.

Peaceful camping spot, lots of space, nicely maintained, lush grass. Shower and toilet block very clean, warm showers, fire pits throughout the grounds and firewood available for purchase. The river was flowing too fast to swim so weren't able to spend any time by the water but was a great home base to explore the tablelands.

Rusty Pheasant RV Retreat
Just had the long weekend up at Rusty Pheasant.The weather was good ,Tonina and hubby where great and helpful.The kids had a good time down at the river playing and swimming.They even had a large screen to watch footy and also put on a sausage sizzle. I’ve already told a few friends about it. Will be back .
