Escape to the heart of Outback Queensland at Royston Station — a 40,000-acre working property located near Longreach, offering an authentic outback experience surrounded by wide open spaces, abundant wildlife and unforgettable night skies. Royston Station produces premium Wagyu purebred cattle and goats for meat production, running approximately 1,200 head of Wagyu cattle and 5,000 goats. Alongside our livestock operations, we are committed to sustainable land management and caring for the natural environment for future generations. Guests can relax beside our natural artesian waterhole; the iconic Turkey’s Nest dam, and enjoy incredible birdwatching opportunities, or simply unwind and take in the peaceful outback landscape. With minimal light pollution, Royston also offers spectacular dark sky stargazing, where the Milky Way shines brightly overhead on clear nights. Whether you’re looking to reconnect with nature, experience life on a working station, photograph native wildlife, or enjoy the tranquillity of the outback, Royston Station provides a unique and memorable stay in the Queensland bush.Guests at Royston Station can enjoy plenty of space to spread out and relax in a peaceful outback setting. The camping area is located nearby our small man-made lake and rustic cottages, offering easy access while still maintaining a sense of peace and openness. The ground is flat with a slightly bumpy surface, with dirt as the main ground cover, making it suited to caravans, camper trailers and tents. Please note that the surrounding vegetation contains burrs, so we recommend dogs remain on a leash at all times for their comfort and safety. As Royston Station is a working property, there may also be machinery, livestock and working dogs operating nearby. The artesian waters of Turkey’s Nest are located approximately a 10-minute drive from this campsite, where guests can relax, enjoy birdwatching or take in the beautiful outback scenery. Stargazing, wildlife spotting and experiencing life on a working station are all easily enjoyed throughout the property.
