Sensory Bliss - there is something so
Peaceful and healing about this land. Take your shoes off and enjoy every bit of this place! A slice of paradise in the top end
Hosts- what a joy the hosts are who make you feel like family and pride themselves on safety and healing. Mooks (an elder who brings their property to life) is an absolute joy to connect with and our family is forever grateful to him for working with our children.
Location- close to Cooktown water eftpos available (bring a bunch of buckets and do your washing their too! $2 for like 270 L of water !!! ) , heaps of bins along Cooktown beach area , great cafe in Cooktown !!!
Couldn’t thank the team at rossville enough - take your family there and let the land speak to your soul

This peaceful campsite was awesome. Overlooking a small lagoon, the only sounds are natures own orchestra. Sandy informed us of their vision going forward, and we’re excited for them and wish them every success.

5 night stay for 5 stars! Great location, wonderful hosts, quick drive to Lions Den, 30 minutes to Cooktown, if you are thinking of doing the Bloomfield Track this would be an awesome spot to stop, set up camp and head to the Den for lunch / dinner and a cold beer. Close to the Mulligan Highway, it’s a perfect spot with some great scenery with Black Mountain as a background and some easy walks to sandy creeks. Level sites near the Lilly filled lagoon

Lovely grassy camping area next to a lagoon. Very friendly hosts. Close to Cooktown and an easy drive to all the great spots in the area. Great fire pits. Lions Den not far if you're hankering for a meal or a morning coffee. Extra bonus: no phone signal

Beautiful spot in amongst the trees. There is a choice of a few different types of sites. The host was very welcoming and threw us in his 4wd to take us around and show the various options available before we set up.
Very peaceful, but keep in mind it's quite remote. Take everything in that you need.
Good launching spot for doing the Bloomfield Track.

This is our second stay at Rossville Retreat and it didn't disappoint!
We stayed in such a lovely, spacious campsite a short walk to the river.
The stars under the campfire at night were just amazing.
It was a little busier this time around but you felt like at times being the only campers there as the campsites are very well spaced out. Quite a lot of shade so if you rely on solar try to get the spot around the end of the runway at the right hand side.
Really enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone in the area as it's only a stones' throw from the well known "Lions' Den Hotel", so if you don't feel like cooking you can eat there and return to a quiet camp.

We were blown away by this amazing bush retreat.
Dave & Sandy made us feel so welcome once we arrived, showing us around their beautiful property.
We really felt that we got a true Aussie bush experience, while feeling safe at the same time.
Nothing was to much for Dave & Sandy, even offering us back up power if we needed it.
Dave told us to explore there land and we were not disappointed with the amazing landscape, including the river rapids.
We had the entire site to ourselves. It was a great base for exploring this area inc Cooktown, Bloomfield Track, Cape Trib/ Daintree.
This truly is a hidden gem, and if you enjoy bush camping you will not be disappointed.

Rossville Retreat Bush Camping
We enjoyed tent camping at Rossville Retreat. Dave was very friendly and showed us around on arrival. Whilst we would have loved to have camped riverside, we understand that Dave and Sandy want to ensure that all campers have equal access to the river so the river itself is for day use or an evening fire but not camping, it was easy to drive down or walk. We took our Stand-Up Paddle Boards and it was a great spot to paddle around and jump in for a freshen up. Plenty of firewood to be found in the bush and we popped down to the Lion's Den for a bit of live music and dinner one night. Great little spot.

Fantastic night in a beautiful spot. Warmly welcomed by Dave and Sandy and offered assistance in any way. Great location - easy run to Lion’s Den for dinner and a swim. We will come back!

Great peaceful location, super friendly hosts. Away from the hustle and bustle of Airlie Beach but a short trip into town to do any activities needed.
It was only a short stop over but would camp there again for sure..many thanks

This is a little gem and I am almost reluctant to share my experience as I selfishly want to keep this magical place to only a few!
Fantastic bush, a lovely creek to swim in and the opportunity to experience, quiet, peace ,security and the most wonderful sky with its abundant stars at night.
Definitely worth a visit and we will be back

This is such a lovely, peaceful spot in the bush by the river. We had a walk and swim downstream after the rapids, we went fishing off the banks and it was so lovely to have the place to ourselves! Dave was super friendly, easy going and showed us round the property on arrival. It’s sooo much nicer than being at a busy caravan park! Thanks heaps!

couldn’t recommend this camp enough!!
Dave was super welcoming and showed us too our camp , some fishing spots and a beaut swimming hole !
So magical to be able to relax by the river with a campfire !
we will definitely be back !!

Absolute hidden gem , we stayed two nights on our way to the tip . We were given a tour of the best swimming and fishing spots and set up camp right on the river with wood already collected and stacked ready to go . The experience was great very relaxing with nobody around just the sound of the birds and the morning visit from a scrub turkey . Only minutes from lions den so we were able to go for dinner but return avoid the packed and noisy camp that comes with it . Very friendly owners that couldnt be more helpfull . We will be back

Was the best experience host sandy communicated back very quickly.on arrival was met by Dave down to earth guy nothing was a problem gave us guided tour and told us we could camp virtually anywhere we wanted. So camped right in middle of unused airstrip very well manicured one at that .went fishing in river and caught some beautiful fish very quickly.late checkout wasn’t a problem.watch this camp in future big plans.

Magic spot! Dave our host made us feel extremely welcome. Showed us around his magnificent property in his 4x4. Flowing creeks and lush rainforest. Peaceful. Lots of open space for our dog to run. And! it has its own magnificent runway!! Watch this space!
Dave delivered wood to us and offered to dig us a firepit. Checked on us in the rain. Bonus: the Lions Den Pub, iconic Aussie, is just a few kms down the road. Beth and Mark

What a gem of a place, we loved staying there! Dave & Sandy are generous and fantastic hosts, they made us feel really comfortable and safe. We camped by the river and it was peaceful private and beautiful. We will be back!
