Site 2 - The Knob
We were fortunate enough to have the knob to ourselves so didn’t see a single person all weekend. Just a quick walk to the Mary valley river for a refreshing swim then back by the fire to listen to nothing but the birds. It actually felt like camping in the middle of nowhere. We will definitely be back.

Stunning Hipcamp - Awesome Stay!

Site 1 - The Wedding or Group Spot
We had an absolutely AWESOME time at Prime Mary River Camping during our overnight stay. We booked the Group/Wedding spot and had it all to ourselves and it was sooo peaceful! I went for a walk around the sites (it was a nice walk as well in the late afternoon sun), and there are 3 great, well spaced, FLAT, grassed spots overlooking the river with HUGE fire pits and access to fish in the River. There is also a nice sheltered spots under trees that looked pretty special as well, plus a huge flat grassed area you could put 20 vans if you had a very large group. All sites were exceptionally well maintained and communication with Kaye and the directions were spot on. I've been to a few Hipcamps now over the past few years and this is easily one of the very best I have stayed at. We will be back again and I've already let other friends know about this great spot! Note: Bring a toilet, clean up after yourself, and yes there was Telstra and Optus reception if you need it.

Arguably one of the best hipcamps my wife dog and I have ever stayed at. We were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves, magic weather and the location on the Mary river is absolutely amazing. For a winter getaway it was excellent. Great fishing, super relaxing and lots to do in the area. Highly recommend.

We camped ay Platapus site 3 - ample space for our caravan, car, gazebo, and still plenty of room to run with our doggo and kid! Great access to two different river access points for fishing and kayaking. Kaye and her family were so kind and helpful to all that we needed! Definitely looking forward to going back!

Beautiful quiet spot along the Mary River 10 mins from Gympie. Working cattle farm host family are helpful and even delivered fire wood down to our camp. We had the Platypus area for three nights to ourselves. Thank you Lauren we will be back.

The views of this place are exceptional. If u want a peaceful trip then this is the place, I would recommend but there were a few problems. Contacting Lauren as the email told us to when we got there was difficult. We got lost and my husband tried phoning for directions to the camp site with no answer, we also messaged to say we were lost with no reply. We found site 1 which was on the river and assumed this was ours. We received a call from Kaye the Saturday afternoon to advise us we were in the wrong site (keep in mind we were the only ones camping in the entire camp ground) I said we tried to contact as we had trouble finding the camp sites but no one answered or replied to our message. There are no names on the sites just site 1, site 2 etc We booked the platypus but apparently we were in the weeding area. All was cleared up and the rest of the stay was amazing! I would definitely camp there again but I still couldn’t tell u where site 1 platypus is. We looked for signs on the way out and we didn’t see any. More signs a must and maybe put the names of the site under the number to help with extra confusion.

I was chipped for doing 50kph on a dirt road driving through empty paddocks. Not a house in sight. Im from the bush and understand dust...but geez. I booked a place called The Knob which ended up being deep dark cold gullywith a fire pit and no wood which i needed 4L and diff locks to get out of and i have a very capable set-up. Will not be back

Massive site, prime river frontage, lovely accomodating host. Staying with our cousins we had a fantastic time didn’t want to leave. Lucky to have a full moon, cows visit, perfect weather. This is the go to in the Mary River, must do!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property with our three children. The sites were fantastic, and the river was a perfect place for swimming, especially for our younger kids. The property itself was in excellent condition and well-maintained. The host was incredibly helpful and welcoming.

We loved our stay at site 3 The knob The camp site was a beautiful grassy spot with plenty of shade. A small walk down to a beautiful shallow creek which ran into the Mary. Deep and wide, to swim, fish and paddle.

Great hosts, beautiful land, access to creek and river, sites are very well spaced. Excellent fire pit - nothing beats watching the moonrise over a fire! Peaceful and good bird watching. Repeat guest because it’s a top spot!
