Very relaxing lovely place to stay. Pete was a friendly host. We extended our stay as it was such a lovely spot by the lake so close to Charters Towers.

Great location close to Charters Towers. Easy access with level sites close to the dam. Spectacular sunset over the water. Fire pits if you want a fire. Got a friendly welcome from Pete who is a wealth of local knowledge. Enjoyed discovering the history of the town. Well worth the stop over.

Great spot very close to Charters Towers.
The camp was so quiet and relaxing only sharing with one other family. I loved sitting by the fire as the sunset hearing the birds come to life with the sounds of whistling ducks taking off from the dam and amazed admired the many cows and horses that came in for a drink. I took many great photo's and host Pete was fabulous, more than welcoming, so accommodating, sharing so much knowledge.
Will definitely stay again! 10/10

Really nice spot not far from Charters Towers. Pete and beautiful cattle dog Pearl called in for a chat each day. We also enjoyed the walking tracks and views from the top of the escarpment. There is a large area to camp not just on the dam with nice views of the water.

Pete’s Place is a great spot to kick back and unwind.
Make sure you go for a walk to the escarpment and check out the caves. Not a difficult walk - and just follow the signs.

Pete is a fantastic host along with his gentle natured dog Pearl. The property is peaceful, making it a great place to relax and unwind or go for a hike up to the escarpment to see the caves and views over the property. It is close enough to town if you are looking for retail therapy or forgotten to pack something but far enough out to be far enough away.

We had a beautiful stay and easily located. Was clearly marked with signs where we were able to camp etc.

Such a nice little stop off when you are passing through. A lovely dam to watch some ducks and the sunrise, Peter was very welcoming and very kind. I would definitely recommend staying here for a night or two!

Pete’s place was fantastic. It was so delightful driving in to see so many birds by the water and we were pleasantly greeted by his bluey dog Pearl. She’s a sweetheart. It’s a very basic site and very peaceful. It has a very clean drop toilet and some bore water which we boiled for dishes but definitely don’t drink it. It has firepits and ton of firewood to use. We had a few ants about but they’re the small black harmless ones, just do a dance and you’re fine. Thanks again, we had a great night

Pete's Place was great! Pete was welcoming and the sites were well kept. The bush toilet with a water tank nearby for washing hands was handy and the fridge library...what a bonus!! It's these little extras that just make it. Well done, Pete - we'd love to visit again!
