Dam Crazy? You would have to be to bypass over 620 acres of scenic bushland off the beaten track for your next camping getaway or stopover on your way on the Bruce Highway. An abundance of birdlife with over 135 different species found so far including a Powerful Owl. A magnificent 400 megalitre dam that now forms part of the natural landscape of this unique property. A hidden gem in the Wide Bay/Fraser Coast area of Queensland where relaxation, peace and privacy are unavoidable as are the sunsets and shooting stars in the clear skies above. We are 20 minutes from the quaint Childers Township and 50 minutes from Bundaberg. The property is totally private and caravans cannot been seen from the road, the owners live on the property and only booked guests are to enter the property offering security and peace of mind. Whether you want to bird watch, kayak, fish (catch and release only), hike or ride one of the many trails or sit, relax and read your favourite book, we promise a warm welcome; from the wildlife and the proprietors Tracie and Jimmy. Dam Crazy is also pet friendly, dogs must be cleaned up after and may be walked off leash on the walking trails (please be mindful of other campers, farm animals and wildlife), they may also swim in the dam but must be contained or kept on leash in the campsite areas. The dam is very deep and could have snags washed down in floods, so we suggest children wear life jackets, and MUST be supervised by adults at all times around the water. Numbers are limited to ensure you have plenty of space and privacy! Campers must take all waste with them. Very good phone reception

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Dam Crazy. Peaceful, clean toilets, plenty of birdlife. We loved the walking tracks and the jetty and boat shack are a great addition.

Was perfect spot for a wind down. We stopped for 2 nights on the return to Bris after school holiday adventure from a trip north. Keep the kids guessing coming down the track in. Then it opens up to the camp ground and the whole family lit up when we arrived, lol. Quiet, open, relaxed & tidy!

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovey large sites. All with views of the Dam. Very peaceful & the Dam was great for swimming & the use of the free Kayaks was great. The toilets were very clean & the owner was lovely. Will definitely be going back . I would recommend going.

Dam crazy is an amazing spot to just relax by the beautiful dam the owner is so very accommodating and comes around most afternoons to check if you need a firewood top up the location is presine and would 1000% be back our daughter was obsessed with the geese that wonder.

Absolutely beautiful spot for camping, there are level pads for your campers or caravans, all sites have a spectacular view of the massive dam. The dam is nice and clean perfect for swimming, fishing and kayaking, we will definitely be coming back!

Dam view was an amazing camping area. Beautiful scenery surrounding, lovely and friendly hosts. When we stayed it was quiet making the area even more peaceful. Amenities were great even without shower access the toilets were some of the cleanest and nicest camp toilets I’ve ever used! Huge bonus for me. Park was animal friendly and out Boarder Collie adored his stay!

Absolutely loved camping at Dam Crazy. Stunning location, very quiet and camp sites are spread out so you are not camping on top of others. Highly recommend Dam Crazy and hope to return very soon.

What a magic campground ! This is now one of our favourites. So much to do , swimming in the dam, walks with our pooch , fishing, kayaking and sitting by the fire at night. So quiet at night. The dam is beautiful, so clean and clear. Brendan & Miranda were lovely. We will absolutely be back again soon. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Absolutely beautiful outlook over the dam. Campsites are well spaced out and private. The whole site has lovely green lawns and the bird life is amazing. The flush toilets were very clean. There are lovely walks from the camp and Brendon was an awesome host. We would highly recommend this camp as it’s one of the very best we’ve been too.

Great spot, camps are spacious and the dam is great. Sites are a little hilly on the water front and need to bring along a fire pit to have off the ground but it’s a great camp with friendly hosts

Overall was a great location, close to town, great swimming and good company. However only 1 out of the 12 sites are level and some very challenging. No fires unless in an off ground fire pit and now rubbish point. Just a few things to note

Peace and quiet around the lake. Very spacious sites and clean toilets. The building blended well into the landscape. Nice walks in the bush that we enjoyed with our dog able to run off leash. There were Kajaks to use if one wanted to go for a paddle. We enjoyed the visits and serenades of the very friendly magpies.

The property was very well maintained, Miranda & Brendan were lovely people, the campsites were very spacious and easy access. The dam was the highlight as it was looking very clean at the time.

Great spot and for us, so close to home. Very peaceful, good little walking tracks, grateful to be able to bring the dog as well. The dam is impressive. Will definitely be back for another mini-break, thanks for sharing your little paradise.

Simply, an amazingly beautiful place. Miranda and Brendon are super hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Brendon brings wood round each day for only $15 for 20kg, very good value for money. There are three walks on the property, and we did them all. Large sites with fire pits, picnic table and views of the Dam (we stayed on site 3). In summary, we cannot recommend this place enough. PS - if there are any mountain bikers out there who plan to stay at Dam Crazy, we found trails at Promised Land, which was about a 25 minute drive - excellent trails.
