Mcdonald's Farm stay is a hobby farm Nestled on 400acres with native Australian bushland. We have goats, sheep, cows' pigs and chooks plus two farm dogs, Sam and Ben, and also our resident cat Tilly. You can join us in feeding the animals the chooks and pigs, sometimes cows and sheep and goats, also egg collecting from our chooks. You can enjoy the surroundings by venturing on the historic World War 1 rifle range track. Be prepared to enjoy wandering and enjoy nature and doing nothing is acceptable too. The army used to bring the diggers out here prior to World War 1 war for practice shooting to keep their eye on the aim. In 1858 alluvial gold was discovered here, 400 miners participated in this gold rush. There are about 3 gold mine sites on this property there are plenty of dry river beads to have a go and pan. We have a couple of dams here where you can catch freshwater crayfish when the weather is warmer. Warwick is 30 minutes' drive from here if you need anything from town. We are not connected to the main power supply so we rely entirely on solar. Campers supply your own water as we have tank water. Please, feel free to collect your own firewood. We have plenty of secluded campsites near the dam and around the property. If you have a telescope the night sky is a spectacular site. Leslie dam is 20 minutes from here, you need a fishing permit. There is plenty of wildlife here plenty of kangaroos, sugar gliders, possums, bird life Yellow belly, silvered perch are a favoured fish here. Cod can be caught too.

WallaRoo Camp site
Amazing property with History
From the moment we arrived we felt right at home and were very warmly welcomed by Ange and Ken onto their property where we camped at the WallaRoo campsite next to the dam, but any of the sites would have been great and are all well maintained with firepits, toilets and plenty of open space which we love. There is so much history on this property and loved our chats with Ken and Ange who were happy to pass on lots of information about the old mine shafts, and the WW1 rifle range which was amazing to explore. Plenty of options for prospecting and fossicking and we even found some small gold panning in the creek, and also found some old relics around the rifle range including shells and projectiles that were fired over 100 yrs ago. We absolutely loved our 5 days here and will be returning again many times to experience the amazing hospitality from Ken and Ange, and to continue exploring this amazing property which has so much to offer. Thankyou for having us and see you again soon.

Fossickers Dream
Loved camping in our van at WallaRoo site next to the dam. Plenty of room with fire pits. There was a drop toilet located at the other sites. We were fully self contained so did not need to use the toilet. Ange & Ken were fantastic hosts! They have 200 acres of land and old mine shafts where you can pan for gold. Highly recommend for a very peaceful few days ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
