Spartan but charming. It would be nice to somehow keep cows and consequential patties from parking area.

A prime campsite right on the banks of the Margaret River! The hosts were wonderful, it’s 2WD accessible and we even managed to catch a couple of fish. A fantastic, hassle-free escape very close to Cairns. Tip: pack a shovel. We had to remove a few fresh cow pads to clear the ground to put our tent and ground mat.

Mulgrave River Camp
Chandell's farm stay exceeded our expectations. The sites are large, grassy and lots of shade. You camp right next to the river, plenty of Mangrove jack's we're caught on prawns which made my son very happy. Chandell and her family we're super friendly and made sure our stay was fabulous. We will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed my stay here, great camp site! I was moved to a different site not the hosts fault so I'm not sure what site I was actually on but I was very happy with the site I had. There wasn't to much traffic heading throw the creek (was a Saturday too) which was great, enjoyed the cows coming over to say hello each day and a few options for fishing spots along the river.
Host were very welcoming and lovely !

First thoughts on driving in was to turn around and leave as there were heaps of derelict cars in the first paddock and massive muddy potholes all along the long driveway, but we pushed through. Directions could have been clearer to state which camp we were allocated as we kept driving to find the camps beside the river (as stated) and ended up at the house instead. The host was shocked but nice and said we went past the best one. (Which what we could see was the only one) apparently the others were through a paddock far away from ours. The site we had was great apart from the hour before set up needing to pick up all the smelly, runny cow patties all over the site, we have stayed at many working cattle farms and have never come across this before. Maybe if we had access to sand or sawdust to omit the smell may have lightened a horrible situation as the smell was quite strong. The host turned up to make sure we had settled in and was very friendly. The stay wasn’t all bad as we did catch numerous muddies but all undersized and a couple of Mangrove Jack with one being dinner.
Not too sure I would be back, as it took a lot of cleaning to get the cow dung smell from both van and car.

Really great spot by the river, easy check in, lovely Host. We were just looking for a quiet camp away from everyone and somewhere to relax and let the boys fish,bonus was it still had reception for the teenage daughter!!! So all and all well worth the small price for the bigger pleasures of life 💕

Chandell was a friendly host. Her family have a lovely slice of tranquil land which suited us perfectly. Our last minute booking wasn’t a problem. The site was flat, roomy with enough trees. Access to the river had great visibility. We fished 🎣 , croc 🐊 spotted and enjoyed a campfire 🔥. This weary travelling family highly recommend. Thank you

we are a couple who love to feel secluded. And that we did. Unfortunately no catch for us however that did not takeaway from the fun we had trying. We stayed at the site closest to the house, it's the popular site from the photos. However if you are after the fishing and crabbing definitely ask for the site in the far corner although the opening isn't as big to the water, this will be my pick next time for the fishing and crabbing. Insaying this as there was no other camper we were free to roam anywhere we wanted. The 3 sites are far spread out and out of site from each other. With large soft grassy camps. Easy enough for any size vehicle to manover. Highly recommend bringing your own hard wood.
The hospitality was amazing and whilst friendly and happy to have a beer with us. They definitely respected our privacy.
100% Aussie geniuan family. We will be back.

Loved our stay at Chandell’s! Spent the time fishing and relaxing. Kids loved watching the cattle, pigs and sheep wander past. We were able to spot the resident croc “Dave” sunbaking down the river. Highly recommend.

Camping by the river at Mulgrave River Farm was so relaxing. We enjoyed great camp fires and the sounds of fish jumping in the river. Loved the privacy. Chandell is so welcoming and we will definitely be camping there again.

Peaceful at night, fair bit of boat traffic during the day but you get that. Beautiful views & alright fishing! We caught a couple of finger marks & one very pretty mangrove jack.

Mulgrave River Camp
Fantastic camp spot just south of Cairns. The property is easy to find and secluded. The local farm animals came over to say g'day throughout the day. Take your fishing rods and crab pots (be very cautious of the river as we saw a large croc on the bank). We were also not able to find any dry firewood at the time due to the previous rainy day but Chandell was able to drop of a few dry pieces which allowed us to have a fire by the camp which we really appreciated. Perfect location to stop off at Behana Gorge for a swim on the way home (only 15 minutes from the camp)

My husband and I arrived to the campsite at night and the host were really fast with there response when we got lost. They came out and took there time to take us to our campsite and have a little chat about the property. The morning scenery was breathtaking and loved waking up to the cows walking around.

Great spot with privacy right on the river. Beautiful views all around. Awesome one night stop for us. The only thing for people to consider is that this spot is on a cattle farm, so you'll potentially have cow poop through your camp.

We loved our 2 night stay at Mulgrave River Camp. Having the animals roam freely around us was a highlight for the kids and fishing just in front of the van was perfect for my husband. No fish caught though!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights at Mulgrave River Camp. The views over the River from our site were spectacular and everything around us was luscious and green. Chandell was a fabulous host, very informative and responsive.
Our site was enormous, secluded and quiet - blissful away from the hustle and bustle.
Regular visits from the sheep, access to water on the other side of the farm and we used their private boat ramp to put our tinny in too.
It rained during our stay so the farm roads got a little muddy, but nothing our 4WD couldn’t handle.
As with most River/farm stays, there were a few mossies. A bit of repellent and closed doors helped keep them at bay.
We fished with bait from the banks and managed to catch mangrove jack, trevally and catfish, all decent sized and a lot of fun.
We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet escape in a picturesque location.
