Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered. Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay. Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices. Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s. Large groups are welcome. There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down. Kids under 12 are free but if fossicking must be covered by a permit. Pets are welcome. My time at Sweeneys camp was quiet & peaceful, great scenery & a pleasant walk along the creek, there is plenty of Gold panning if you enjoy the hunt for Gold. I intend for another visit

We stayed only one night wish we had more time the area is very open with the cows and plenty of camp spots along the river the kids had a ball swimming in the creek and gold fossicking even managed to take some small pieces home we will be back Nev even bought down some fire wood for us

What a great spot! Neville was a friendly host who helped us find the perfect spot for our group which had a tent, camper trailer and caravan. The grounds were tidy and toilets clean. Both the kids and adults had a wonderful time exploring the creek and watching the cows. Highly recommend!

Lots of flat large camp areas. Neville is fantastic, stopping in to check on you daily, making sure everything is going well. Portable toilets spread throughout the camp grounds and large firepits. Spent 4 nights here and we will definitely return

Really nice camp with many different locations to choose from. Neville is a great host insuring the porta loos are clean and well stocked. He also makes the rounds daily offering free fire wood.

Neville is one of the nicest people, we had him come to visit each day and he even stayed for cheese platter and a beer. McSweeny Haven is very relaxing with the cows coming to visit also bringing their beautiful calf’s. We weren’t lucky enough to find gold but we are beginners so maybe next time. Thank you Neville for a very relaxing few days away. Highly recommend

A peaceful quiet camp ground perfect for the family. Great spot to get away for a few days with only the sounds of nature (when the kids were asleep). Kids loved watching the cows with their calves. Options for flat open camp spots or amongst the trees, lots of fire rings and Nev was a great host dropping off some firewood and briefly checking in with us each day. Portaloo was clean. Creek was a bit dry at the moment, and didn't have any luck finding any gold (didn't really know what I was doing). Patchy phone and internet service with optus, good for not being stuck on the phone but being able to check in when needed. Would stay again!

We had a great overnight stay, hope to return for a bit longer! Our dogs had a great time and we loved watching the cows wandering through the paddock. Thanks for sharing your beautiful piece of the world Neville.

Thank you Nevillle for a wonderful place to stay, we had good weather, the kids enjoyed fossicking and play in the creek, the supplied wood kept the camp fire a treat at night with the marshmallows, even had a crack at camp oven cooking that turned out really well, loved the cattle and bird life, Lily the dog in our group had a great time as well with so many new smells and things to see. It was a pleasure to stay here and would do it again. Neville had a wealth of information about the area.

Great campsite for winter! Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and there was only 1 other group camping there the whole time. There are plenty of port-a-loos dotted through the grounds and plenty of flat areas for groups. The owner was kind enough to drop some firewood off to us and even went the extra mile to jog up some tin to protect the firepit for the rain that was hanging around. The cows were an added bonus, with some cute calf's as well. We will definetely be back.

We had the best time! Wide open spaces for the kids to run around in. Well spread out camp sites and Neville was lovely dropping by for a chat each day. Plenty of portable toilets around. The gold fossicking was fun!

We had a great time here with the family and our friends. The property is large enough that your not cramped in and have lots of your own space. Neville was a great help showing us a good spot to set up, very helpful.
